Crossover of my favorite novels :D Inspired by @/dakynai 's orv and svsss crossover. Thank you Dani for being an inspiration!
there's a really funny 3d printing controversy going on btw.
if you don't know, there's a very popular 3d printing model out there called "benchy". this is used for benchmarking your 3d printer because it's a difficult print and will help test it out.
this is so widely used that people make their own little versions of it, remixing the 3d model to make benchy look cooler and stuff. however, a new company owns the benchy license. they are sending copyright takedowns to all those who wrongfully uploaded the benchy model.
of course, this is pissing off the 3d printing community greatly. everyone loved benchy and have used it for years. so someone on reddit decided to make a new model that is designed as a 3d printing stress test. one that works a lot like benchy, and people are freely able to edit it as they please. you know what they called it?
boaty.
“i also choose this guy’s dead wife” was easily the #1 funniest thing to ever be written on the internet.
you can know the punchline but you can’t stop it from punching you.
i do also feel the need to add that phil8248 really liked the joke. he said his wife had always had a dark sense of humour, even about her illness and death, and seeing the joke made him feel like he was laughing with her one last time.

That's kind of why they exist actually
This is the ONLY reason they exist!!
I think a Negative Kudos button is really pointless first off (ao3 is an archive not a social media site! we don't need upvotes/downvotes to drive some nonexistent algorithm) but also it feels cowardly. like, there already is a way to share your dislike of a fic with the author. it's called commenting 'your fic is bad and I didn't like it.' but then you might look like an ass, and people might say hey that's mean, and you might have to defend your position of unkindness + consider why you feel the need to be rude to a stranger on the internet writing for fun and for free. a quick, impersonal, site-sanctioned Mean Kudos is really just a weenie move
I don't believe in christian babies. I believe in babies, i believe in christians, but a baby doesn't have the agency and cognitive abilities required to chose and/or live a faith. There's babies of christian parents, of course, as well as babies that have been introduced into the system that is the christian church, but that does not make them christian yet.
Long story short, i did not hit a christian baby into the stratosphere, officer.
I know this might make people mad, but absolutely refusing to even attempt to treat your mental illness, and instead just endlessly inflicting your unmitigated episodes on the people around you, is abusive. Your loved ones are not stress toys that you can just squeeze every time you feel bad. It is bad if someone says your repeated behavior is hurting them, and you take no steps to change. I know damn well that you can’t always help how your brain acts, but I’ve also spent a lot of years trying to stop my spiraling brain in its tracks, work on strategies to calm down, and consider the impact I’m having on others, because I grew up in a household with people who have the attitude of, “I have the right to consume all the attention in the house and drain your energy every single day because I feel miserable, and you’re the bad guy if you say that I’m making you feel bad and that I need to get help. I can treat you however I want because of my anxiety.”
Your mental health is not your fault, but it is your responsibility.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you for saying this
Really wish we'd, on the left, stop laughing and assuming this is ACTUALLY about strippers. I'd be willing to bet this ISN'T about some one with the actual job of stripper being somehow hired and sent to a school, that indeed DOESN'T happen - instead it will be used to target any female teacher who, like, wears a bikini on social media one time. She'll be called a "danger" to children and fired, as a cover for the fact that she's pro-queer or too far left or doesn't support ICE enough on that same social media. The bikini pic will just be the legal tool used to ruin her life
A friend helped me out by looking up the actual bill and YUP, it's to target queer people and sex education. NOT. STRIPPERS. STOP MAKING IT ABOUT THE FUCKING "STRIPPERS".
Anyone who thinks ladyshinga might be off track, here's the breakdown.
Actual bill name: Stop the Sexualization of Children Act.
Purported purpose: "to protect children from being exposed to explicit material in the classroom".
How it's sold in the press: "Ban strippers and porn from classrooms!"
Actual text of the bill: Expands the meaning of "sexually explicit content" to include the words "or involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism".
Not and. Or. Meaning "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" is in and of itself enough to be classified as sexually explicit.
Actual result: Illegal to mention the existence of trans people or admit to being trans in a classroom under threat of being prosecuted as a child sex offender.
This is HR7661—also known as the Federal Book Banning Bill. It would remove books by, about, or including trans people.
If you want to fight:
We made it easy to take these four actions to fight against HR 7661 and stand up for your right to read!

I feel like I need to explain this about the Hungarian election: Tisza won without any presence in the mainstream media, and barely anything you could call a "political ad." And it's not just that they couldn't afford it: they couldn't access certain types of publicity even if they had the money. Over the last sixteen years, Fidesz has come to dominate our national media infrastructure. We don't have hardline censorship, it's just that all of the means to speak and be heard belong to Orbán.
An opposition party can no longer place full-size billboards anywhere in Hungary: the private companies renting out billboard spaces are also under Fidesz control. Fidesz can fill the city with billboards, on walls, next to roads, in every bus stop, etc etc, Tisza had none, except for smaller cardboard ones ziptied to traffic signs.
There are free, state-run TV and radio channels that lots of people use to get their news, and those are 100% Fidesz propaganda. Free newspapers are handed out: Fidesz propaganda. Private, for-profit media exists, but a lot of it is owned by Fidesz puppets and echoes the party line, a lot of it is technically free but self-censors to avoid trouble, and the remainders of truly free media remains struggled to have the same reach as the media propped up by the whole state infrastructure. Fidesz used financial and political means to break multiple dissenting newspapers and online news sites, replacing them with zombie propaganda creatures. Some things no longer appear in mainstream media, for example, opposition politicians do not appear in mainstream media. There could be no televised debate between candidates because that would have meant giving free air time to enemies of Fidesz.
The opposition has access to social media, and they have access to crowdfunded alternative news/journalism sites, which also disseminate information via social media, and that's basically it, while Fidesz also pushes their own agenda via the same social networks. Shoutout to gen Z and A for being online in the right way and amplifying true information, shoutout to some surprisingly ethical influencers, shoutout to Tisza for being good at maintaining an engaging social media presence that could rival state-funded television, but an especially huge and humbled shoutout to the investigative and documentary journalists who did not stop, and who spent the last decade uncovering the scandals that finally brought the regime down. But that still would not have been enough, because not everyone is on the internet, and not everyone on the internet is already reading the same four independent investigative outlets.
It is only in retrospect that I understand how much of this campaign was won the old, low-tech way, on foot, door to door, face to face. Telling people what was going on, and asking them what they wanted. I used to think it was just a silly gimmick that Péter Magyar walked from Budapest to Nagyvárad (ca. 300 km), but if a guy can't get on television, he has to go to fifty different villages and convey the news like a town crier. And of course it wasn't just him, Tisza candidates and volunteers have put in a truly impressive amount of footwork.
The party having a TWO-THIRD SUPERMAJORITY was basically silent and invisible in any mainstream outlet. They didn't need that shit, and apparently their voters didn't either. This is incredibly impressive.
incredible stuff happening out there
There's gotta be someone more qualified. I'm fucking begging you.
@evilwizard
don’t involve me in this…
@theshitpostcalligrapher ?
@ddua--
No, I shan't. This is a job for @were--ralph
As I've said before, we have tumblr personalities. People who share interesting stories or observations that get a decent amount of engagement. @prokopetz, @gallusrostromegalus, @hellenhighwater, and @kaity--did, among others.
People whose musings and antics we're invested in.
But they're not influencers. They're not celebrities.
And, more importantly, and actually reaching the broader scope of the redditor's question, tumblr is a site where you control your own engagement. You have to actively find the content you want, it's not going to be spoonfed to you by an algorithm.
And that's just how we like it.
Penny says "no tanks no fanks no thanks" 🙂↔️ 😂
@gallusrostromegalus?
If OP wants a celebrity we have uh... Former US Secretary of Labor @robertreich?
Parallels(?) lol
Ao3 does not need an algorithm, you're just lazy
Ao3 does not need a 1-5 star rating system, you just want to bring down authors writing for FREE
Ao3 does not need automatic censorship, it is an archive, therefore anything can be posted
Writing or reading about something illegal does not mean the author nor the reader condones it, if that were true, you could never read a story involving anything negative
Purity culture is ruining fan culture and you all are fucking annoying
made a part two of this! Keep thinking twiguy!

Saw this on Twitter and wanted to share.
A whole lot of military films will be coming out soon. You'll see older ones showing up on streaming service and new ones soon to follow. Sure, a few are, in fact, very good movies. But here's the caution:
Any film featuring the US military is paid for by the US military. They have the final word on what comes out. These films are recruitment tools. Same applies to TV shows, and doubtless many will soon be showing up.
Do not be fooled by these films and shows. They are designed to bring in new recruits. When these are released, there is a surge in new people enlisting in the military. These recruits swiftly discover they were fed bullshit, but now they're stuck due to a contract. Going AWOL, away without leave, is desertion. You will be caught and put on trial for desertion, and they are not light with the sentencing.
Please, for the love of fuck, do not enlist with the military. You are cannon fodder. They do not care about you.
Recruiters are told to lie. To do whatever it fucking takes to enlist new people. Do not fucking fall for it.
These films and shows are recruitment tools paid for by the military. It's why they're so big, glamorous, and quickly made. Enjoy what you see, but don't sign up. It's a fucking lie.
if you have signed up, you have a year to quit due to "failure to adapt" with minimal consequences to you ("it's not you it's me")
if you want to quit, no matter how long you've been in, these folks may be able to help you https://girightshotline.org/
