using "what were YOU doing at the devils sacrament" to mean "yeah i made an embarrassing reference but you understood it which is also embarrassing" is very funny to me
my favorite part is that absolutely nobody says this except here. so if you use it in public, it's a dead giveaway that you spent the last ten years on tumblr. but then again, they recognized it, which means they were at the devil's sacrament
I tested this theory in the wild the other day at work. I was on a call with my department lead and a few other folks and I replied to an email the DL had sent me, thinking that, because he was on this call, he wouldn't notice when I sent it and would not catch me multitasking.
However, he replied to said email within five minutes, asking a question that required an answer. So I answered and was like "Also, I was going to apologize for answering emails during this call, but I see we're both here at the Devil's Sacrament, so I don't think an apology is necessary."
I watched him read that on screen and try not to laugh. And then at the end of the call as everyone started saying goodbye, he goes, "Hey, MJ, I meant to tell you. I like your shoelaces."
And I looked straight into my camera, stone cold serious, and said, "Thanks. I stole them from the president."
And the rest of the team was like, "What...the fuck...?" before he abruptly ended the call for everyone.
So now my DL and I know this about each other. He could be any one of us.

Remaking my last post cuz it sounded weird! And I forgot an option. So I’m writing a Zelda: Linked Universe fanfic called Dragons of Wind and Light. So. I’m trying to figure out what I want the two main main characters (Wild, the Link from BotW and TotK, and Flora, the Zelda from BotW and TotK) to have as their main ships!
So the original plan was Zelink. Safe option, all that fun stuff. But I was also thinking, based off of smth I wrote and smth I read once, Flora with a girl? I was thinking Violynne from the Stable Trotters group in TotK. That, and there’s the classic Sidlink ship- So now I’m unsure and asking tumblr for help via poll!
Also, I feel like I should mention that Wild/Link in my personal opinion has some gender fluidity. Just for the sake of knowing :)
I have an idea yall. Consider: Resident Evil and Linked Universe crossover. Since the announcement of Resident Evil: Code Veronica getting a remake, I decided to actually start working on watching the whole thing! And what did I do? make a crossover
So now!
I have an idea. Now take it with a grain of salt, I HAVE NOT watched the entire series. I’m about to start watching RE4. BUT I’ve been working on a game by game plot.
Gear up for a rant!
So Umbrella pretends to be good, but is really insanely powerful and all, right? Consider. Gods that have gone mad, in a way. We all know how Sun is Hylia reborn, Time is the Fierce Deity’s charge, Wind is chosen by the winds, all that fun stuff. Well! In Majora’s Mask, it’s established that Majora has gone mad, and tries to destroy Termina with the moon. Well, what if Majora gets the other gods in on the idea of “hey let’s destroy this world and remake it.” So then, Umbrella will be the sort of Gods’ league of people helping destroy the world. Now, I won’t spoil who’s who (yet), but I think you can tell at least who may be involved based on earlier characters mentioned.
The protagonists for the games, though, I will say. Chris Redfield will be Sky, Leon Kennedy will be Legend, and Ethan Winters will be Twilight. Of course, a couple other characters are protagonists, but those are the main ones!
So. Gods. Big thing in Zelda. So here is my backstory of the main gods, then worship stuff will be in another post. This is a huge post by the way, so um…have fun!! Let me know (kindly) if anything doesn’t make sense, or you want color coding, because this is a lot.
So it started with Null and the Golden Goddesses (abbreviated as GG). The GG represented total balance and were made from stars, while Null represented unbalance and was made from the void of space. Seeing as this was a threat to their entire existence, the GG sealed Null beneath the world. In an attempt to seal Null for as long as possible, they used a combination of their powers. Din created the Earth, Nayru the Laws, and Farore the Beings. Farore created races for each of them: Forest Spirits (Kikwi, Kokiri, etc) for her, Zora for Nayru, and Gorons for Din. She also created Humans as a bridge between all of them, but a group of women separated to worship Din, which was rewarded by protection from the desert by her, making them the distinct Gerudo. They rarely appeared to their people, rather sending their blessings without words. The Temple of Time was created to store the Triforce, and it was a highly symbolic place as many saw it as a place to pray to all three GG in times of need.
While the GG were the primary gods of the realm, the Triforce was created and placed in the Sacred Realm, which was the home of the gods. To balance this extra light from the new realm, they created four Light Spirits, being Faron, Eldin, Lanayru, and Ordona across the land, who gained power by the light from the world and the prayers of the people. When a group of interlopers attempted to gain control of it, the GG ordered the Light Spirits to ban the interlopers to a new realm void of light, called the Twilight Realm. Mirrors of the four spirits were created as Spirits of Darkness to guard the Twili, who gained power the same way their counterparts did.
The GG stayed as the only three deities for a long time until they felt that the world could stay sealed if they left. As replacements, they decided to create three gods out of the three combinations of their power. From Wisdom and Courage, Hylia was made to represent the Sun and be the Goddess of Light, Time, and Creation. From Wisdom and Power, Kishin was made to represent the Moon and be the God of Craftsmanship, War, and Destruction. From Power and Courage, Majora was made to represent the World, Mind, and Chaos.
Seeing as those three, nicknamed the Three Protectors (TP), could hold the balance of the world, the GG left, leaving the Triforce to call them back once wished upon. The TP then became the dominant three gods in the world. Whereas the GG were known for the creation of the world, the TP spread the word of their control themselves. The three gods created a race of their own to test their abilities, a race of goat-like beings called Zonai. They were raised into the sky, watched over by the TP. Though, Kishin most often watched over them.
Hylia most often appeared to the people of the world in a physical form, telling them about the Golden Mothers (GG), herself, and her brothers. She became the most famous with the people of one country in particular. Many followed her, and Hylia followed in Din’s footsteps, blessing them to better hear the call of the gods and have more affinity with magic. These people became Hylians, and due to their main population living in one country, it was named Hyrule. She created Loftwings to be the companions of her people, protecting each other and keeping each other company. A group of scholars with an affinity with magic were also blessed by Hylia, becoming the Sheikah. They learned to use magic to disguise themselves and protect Hylia with their stealthy ways and wise minds.
Kishin did not appear as often as Hylia, due to taking a similar approach as their Mothers, but he did appear every so often. He gained a quieter, but equally as devoted following. Majora, however, rarely appeared and was followed by few.
But then came Demise. While Null was trapped beneath the Earth, he knew he could not weaken his bonds himself. Out of all of the negativity he could reach, he created a god himself, Demise. Demise was sent to the surface to take the Triforce and use it to destroy the world. After some time of watching, Demise found that he could not get the Triforce, as it was protected by the TP. Instead, Demise went to Majora and convinced it of the similarities between Majora and Null. The TP did not know about Null, so Majora followed Demise to see Null.
Upon seeing Null himself, Majora went mad, killing its followers and disrupting laws. In an attempt to begin destroying the world for himself, it attempted to bring the moon down. However, Kishin noticed the change in behavior and the attempt with his domain, stopping Majora before it could bring the moon. Kishin forcefully created another dimension to lock Majora in, trapping himself and Majora inside and making it so that only one chosen by Hylia could enter. The two brothers became locked in battle over the new dimension called Termina, a world with mirrors of Hyrule’s citizens. Kishin convinced the four giants, the Terminian counterparts of Hyrule’s light spirits, to defend the Terminians while Majora corrupted the figureheads of each Terminian race into giants. Majora turned Kishin into a mask, and just before he was sealed away, he turned Majora into a mask as well. The twisted versions of Majora’s killed followers took the mask, committing rituals and creating a being of pure madness inside of the mask. The Moon was the Giants’ and Kishin’s way of seeing Termina, and the Giant Turtle kept the ocean safe for them.
Now that two of the TP were sealed away, Hylia was the only one left to guard the Triforce. She used the powerful blade that Kishin gifted her and fought alongside her people against Demise and his monsters, attempting to fulfill her brother’s role of war, but was largely unsuccessful. With the help of a companion, who sacrificed himself to help Hylia, she sent the remaining Hylians into the sky on an outcropping of land. With that land, she also sent her Goddess Sword, her Sword Spirit with messages, her Harp, and the Triforce, then created a large cloud barrier so that Demise could not get it.
She made the decision to turn herself into a mortal for a lifetime, create a hero to aid her in regaining her memories, and use the Triforce herself to seal away Demise. She created four songs, one for each Silent Realm, to test the spirit of her hero. Three songs would require artifacts in the GG’s image to uncover, and one would require gathering four pieces of a song. To defend those on the Surface and in the Sky, Hylia created four minor deities. Faron, a water dragon to protect water and forest creatures, Eldin, a fire dragon to protect earth creatures and the volcano, Lanayru, a thunder dragon to protect the robots, and Levias, a flying whale to protect the Hylians in the Sky.
With these preparations complete, she created her hero, Link, after her courageous companion, and became a mortal named Zelda. As Zelda learned who she once was, a divide between Hylia and Zelda grew. Once Link upgraded the sword, Demise placed a curse on Zelda’s bloodline and Link’s spirit, the Triforce was used, and the Kingdom of Hyrule was created, Zelda died. When she did, Zelda and Hylia became split. While Hylia’s blood continued in the royal bloodline, the first Zelda and Hylia were, and were not the same being anymore. The three dragons and the whale deity left, their duties complete. Levias produced another god, a god of dreams and the ocean. A new realm was created for them, a world where the deity held control. The deity would feed off of the people’s dreams and change form depending on them. Only the gods know of their true name. Out of the extreme surge of magic from the Triforce, some fairies grew larger and became Great Fairies, starting a lifecycle of Great Fairies being the mothers and leaders of fairies in fountains.
The Golden Goddesses returned, horrified at what happened. While Demise was stopped and the seal of the Earth was stronger than ever, two of their three children were unable to be reached and one was weaker than before. A temple called the Temple of Time had been created by a Sage of Light named Rauru to protect the Triforce. The GG decided to give Hylia time to recover, especially as the largest temple that held her power had gotten buried over the years, and take control for a time. They observed as a byproduct of Demise’s curse, a little wind mage, was taken down by a little hero in green. This boy saved his princess with a sword from forest spirits called the Picori Blade. This blade allowed him to create three extra copies of himself. His descendant (or the same hero in the case of Linked Universe) used this same blade against the wind mage, but it split him into four people rather than giving him copies. The sword was renamed to the Four Sword during this time.
Many years passed as belief shifted more to the GG again, but Hylia made an appearance to gift the royal family with a magical ocarina, one that could control time. Seeing as the GG created Hylia to have control over time when they left their children in control of the world, they found that they did not have as much control over time, themselves. While they wished to have more control, they chose to continue observation and only act if necessary.
Though, their one act was creating three protectors of the major races to aid them. Lord Jabu-Jabu, who was the protector of the Zora, the Great Deku Tree, who was the protector of the Forest Spirits, and Volvagia, who was the protector of the Gorons. Following this war, the Hylian royal family had created keys to the inner room, which held the Master Sword, of the Temple of Time. The keys were created with the other races, one for the Kokiri Spirits, one for the Zora, and one for the Gorons. These three keys were given to the races for protection. The Great Deku Tree held the Kokiri Emerald, the Zora royal family held the Zora Sapphire, and the Goron Chief held the Goron Ruby. Only with these three keys and a song made for the Temple played from the Ocarina of Time would open the doors.
When Demise’s curse reared its head again with a Gerudo male being born with a selfish heart, the Golden Goddesses debated whether to act or not. Hylia made the decision for them, creating a third hero. They all observed as a war between Hyruleans and the Gerudo people erupted and concluded, leaving a small number of Gerudo women left with the Gerudo boy as their king, and the young hero boy being entrusted into the Kokiri’s care.
The little hero got the Ocarina of Time, traveling until he could open the inner door of the Temple of Time and take the Master Sword. Unfortunately, through the wants of Hylia and the Sword, the hero could not actually take the sword out until he was 17. This allowed Ganondorf, the Gerudo man, to reach the Triforce. Due to his selfish heart, however, the Triforce was split apart. This corrupted the Sacred Realm that the Triforce was inside, leaving only the Sage’s Chamber unharmed. Volvagia created a new dragon deity, a dragon named Valoo.
The gods were forced into the main world of the mortals, and as the hero swapped between the past and the present, the world became unbalanced. New timelines were created, destroyed, and lost. Three of the timelines functioned. One where the little hero stopped Ganondorf, who was later sent to the Twilight Realm, time was turned back to before his adventure, and he went on another adventure. The second had Ganondorf stopped, but the hero continued on as an adult and Ganondorf escaped his imprisonment. Finally, in the third timeline, the hero died in his battle against Ganondorf.
In the first timeline, the young boy traveled to Termina. Majora, with his mask, had taken control over a sad Skull Kid who felt he’d been left by the Four Giants. Majora’s power did not fully give Skull Kid the powers of the gods, but it made him significantly more powerful with Majora’s reality-bending abilities. The Hero of Time unsealed each of the giants by beating the figureheads that Majora had corrupted millennia prior. The hero was able to find the Fierce Deity mask, being Kishin. Kishin formed a kinship with the young boy, helping him best Majora to give the now-silent mask to a strange salesman. He guided the boy back out into the world, where he would help in battles when his mask was worn. After the little hero’s lifetime, the mask of Kishin was lost. None of the Goddesses could find him. Another boy with the Four Sword fought Ganon and succeeded (in Linked Universe, same character as the boy with the Picori blade and the Four Sword). Later in this timeline, a new hero, the descendant of the Hero of Time, would be plagued by twilight and would use the light spirits to dispel the darkness that turned him into a beast that reflected his spirit. This boy was mentored at times by the troubled spirit of the Hero of Time.
However, in the next timeline, things were not so successful. After the hero had grown up and shattered his Triforce, choosing not to be sent back to his childhood, Ganondorf had escaped his imprisonment. The Gerudo man fled before another attempt to take over. The GG made their first act in years, flooding the world with poisonous oceans and sealing the land below. They only gave Hylia a short time to send messages to villages to move to the highest mountain peaks. These groups of Humans and Hylians changed to be island villagers, growing crops and raising animals. Lord Jabu-Jabu also created a new guardian deity, Jabun, to protect those that remained in the water. To balance the new world, the GG created elemental deities. One of these deities, the Breeze, created two physical wind deities named Zephos and Cyclos to help her control the weather.
There was one land that they created, a lush land with small groups of people and Spirits of Good watching over them. The land would be found by those truly determined. While it was plagued for a time by a great evil named Malladus, the spirits battled and sealed him away. The Lokomo was a tribe of people entrusted by the Spirits of Good to keep the seal of Spirit Tracks secure.
The Zora that did remain quickly began to evolve into new beings, unable to stay healthy or get food in the poisoned waters. Valoo hatched from the lava of Eldin Volcano, where he blessed the remaining Zora with the gift of flight. This led to the worship of both Valoo and Jabun by the Zora. The Great Deku Tree was helped by Farore to survive the flood by growing to extreme heights, taking the Kokiri with him. The Kokiri and Zora gradually evolved, with the Kokiri becoming small wooden creatures with leaf masks and high forest magic called Koroks, and Zora becoming winged and beaked humanoids called Rito. Gradually, the Rito stopped worshipping Jabun, as there was no longer a need for water-related blessings.
Levias’ child, the God of Dreams, noticed the change in the world. He changed his own world into a large ocean with islands to match, and retracted his wings to stay in the ocean. He called himself the Ocean King, and would explore his world in the form of an old human man named Oshus. He created six golden frogs and a chief, Cylos, to have a version of Zephos and Cyclos in his world.
Ganondorf rose again, killing the two sages that held his seal and powered the Master Sword. He still had his fragment of the Triforce, so he knew that Courage and Wisdom were out there too. He began his search for the Zelda of this era, sending out a monster to find her. The GG, after being kicked from the Sacred Realm and less powerful than they once were, could not seal him again. They believed that this timeline and the last could not be saved, and focused on the first timeline. The Breeze sent Zephos and Cyclos messages to watch the new hero, a boy with an affinity with the wind. During his journey, he got the fragments of the Triforce of Courage and went through the Tower of the Gods, demanding that the Goddesses recognize him. He called the GG and Hylia, who permitted him entry into the Kingdom of Hyrule, finding him worthy despite not being created by Hylia and taking the role by force.
The boy killed Ganondorf, only to fall into the Ocean King’s world a year later. An evil monster named Bellum had sapped the deity’s life force and sealed away two of the three spirits that guarded the Ocean King. The Hero of Wind befriended the amnesiac third fairy, who’d split her form to save herself. He gathered the three spirits, gathered materials for a magical sword that could stop time, and defeated Bellum. He left the Ocean King’s world and, years later, found the land of the Lokomo. Another little hero later would work with the Lokomo to seal Malladus after he was freed once again.
It was a shock to the GG that the third timeline survived. When the Hero of Time died in battle, the Princess Zelda of that time and the sages that the hero had gotten sealed Ganon, turned into a beast named Ganon, into the Sacred Realm. It corrupted the Sacred Realm further, becoming a mirror of Hyrule that turned those that fell in into animals that reflected their soul. Ganon, now a mindless beast after being trapped in a corrupted realm for so long, managed to escape and steal the entire Triforce for himself. He was quickly sealed away before he could act on it, however.
The GG did not have enough power to destroy the timeline or fix it themselves, and Hylia could not be in the timeline for long due to the effect of the unbalance and corruption going against her nature. Din blessed four Great Fairies to be the Season Spirits, taking another burden off of the weak goddesses. Levias’ child took the magic they could get from the main world, however limited, and retreated to their world. They created an island named Koholint, called themself the Wind Fish, and fell into a deep sleep, building on their island as they slept. The Zora evolved into two different kinds of Zora due to environmental and societal differences.
Oddly enough, with the main deities of the land disappearing from the world, at least from the population’s view, a new religion arose. Only small groups worshipped, but these groups were scattered across the world. These people worshipped one major god, one that had three major roles and three different names for each role. While the religion was not quite named in this world, it often featured a cross and a man who was fully mortal and fully this one god at the same time. This was not a widespread belief, due to the very different and rather radical ideas.
Hylia created yet another hero to help dispel the evil in the world, and traveled throughout the world. First, he defeated Ganon, regained the Triforce, and fixed the land. Second, he was in a shipwreck, only being saved by falling into the Wind Fish’s dream world. He traveled across Koholint, learning of the nature of the island and gathering instruments to wake them, eventually doing so. Finally, he went to two other countries (Holodrum and Labrynna) and met with two Maku Trees, the guardians of those countries. He fought through the two to free the Oracles of Seasons and Ages, servants of Din and Nayru respectively. He then became blessed by Din and Nayru (oracles), and was watched over by the GG as a “reward” for this blessing and his help.
Then came another hero (or the same hero as before, for Linked Universe). He helped save Hyrule first from yet another iteration of Ganon, but partnered by a powerful sorcerer, but also helped another mirror of Hyrule, Lorule. In doing so, he was recognized by Hylia and Lolia after restoring Lorule’s Triforce with his own. This was then followed by a rather entertaining fashion adventure. Though, some time later, Null attempted to escape his imprisonment and helped Ganon’s power surge. Ganon kidnapped the princess, but another created hero stopped him. Rifts in the Earth opened, Null finding a time to escape, and the princess had to undertake the adventure. She traveled with a little light being to help close the rifts and save her hero. When the two could join together, they pushed Null back beneath the Earth and sealed him once again.
In the time between heroes, this timeline fell further apart. While the Triforce of Hyrule was restored, a cult began to bring back Ganon, and there was yet another war as magical abilities and resources dwindled, causing fights and desperation. This caused the water to become poisoned, damaging the land. Certain plants still grew, but were often poisonous. Many plants turned brown despite being entirely healthy, while others all became a bright green that made it difficult to tell which plants were poison and which were fine. The GG and Hylia could no longer touch the land outside of granting wishes of the Triforce, as the world was too corrupted to save.
During this time of decay and difficulty, many people in Hyrule were lost and believed that their old gods had abandoned them, moving to the once-bizarre religion that featured only one perfect god. Hyrule was blocked off from trade, as it was seen as rotten and cursed. This led many more to die off, leaving few villages scattered across the country, but many empty lands. The royal family also faced turmoil, as the Triforce was split apart and hidden. The half brother of Zelda demanded to know where the Courage piece of the Triforce was, as their late father had told only her before he passed, but she denied. She was put into a magical sleep by a powerful mage, which were incredibly rare in this time. Unfortunately for the family, though, the mage died before the spell could be undone. In a panic, the brother continued the family line and Hylia’s blood in the family by injecting his wife with the blood of his sister, killing her but letting the baby girl continue the line.
Eventually, after 100 years of the kingdom’s gradual ruin into a reclusive family, Hylia was able to create one last hero for this timeline. She knew he had to be strong against Ganon’s incredible strength, so she made him a half fairy son of a Great Fairy and a Hylian man. The Zelda of this era, who had broken the Triforce of Wisdom into pieces, was kidnapped by an escaped Ganon. This hero regained the pieces and saved her, only to be given another quest when this Zelda told him of her sleeping ancestor. He traveled across Hyrule until he found the temple that contained the Triforce of Courage. He fought a twisted version of himself, but gained the entire Triforce at the end. With a wish to repair the world, the GG and Hylia were able to return and help restore some of the land.
This restoration was done by merging the three timelines. The gods from the flooded timeline fell away, seeing no need for their power. The light spirits of the world fell into slumber, keeping the light balanced but no longer being active. A powerful sorceress of time was chosen by the GG to watch over the Triforce to keep it from any more harm. They gave her near-omniscience, allowing her to gain the knowledge of the past and present, along with all of the heroes and princesses. She felt captivated by the Hero’s Spirit, the very thing that Hylia imbued her heroes with to give them the courage and determination they would need. Sensing that there would be need for another hero, she created another. As she cycled through her new memories, she began to feel bitter that she could not ever reach the hero, and that he was always destined to be with another. While Ganon’s spirit had been sealed in several different eras, Ganondorf still managed to speak to her. His evil crawled into her heart, splitting her in two: Lana as the good sorceress, and Cia as the evil sorceress. Cia merged eras in a war she began for the Hero’s Spirit and the new hero of that era, causing people from all eras to fall into the war. Like the Hero of Time’s adventure, this split in time could not be solved by the GG nor Hylia, who had not yet healed enough. It began as a war to stop Cia, but she died expending her life force to fuel her dark magic. The war then shifted to battle Ganondorf, who had reunited pieces of his spirit once again. The defeat of Ganondorf, followed by another adventure in reviving Cia, led to the two sorceresses returning to guard the Triforce now that both knew that they could not have the hero. They would continue to guard the Triforce in safety for the rest of eternity. Though due to this war and his part in it, Levias saw it fit that he turn mortal and end his life, seeing as his journey was over. Due to the combination of each timeline, there were now two children of his, rather than the one he originally created. They followed in their father’s actions, ending their lives. These three bodies became massive leviathan skeletons.
The world healed, restoring balance by itself. The GG became more present, while Hylia went about creating a new deity to watch over nature when the GG were absent or preoccupied. This deity was settled on Satori Mountain, keeping watch over the magical spirits in the land. Fittingly named, the deity was called Satori. Though, sometimes, it was called the Lord of the Mountain by the rare individuals that saw it. A strange Great Fairy-like deity was created by Farore, a horse god by the name of Malanya that could revive horses, which were not treated well in the previous war. Speaking of deities, a new one arose that used dark magic to switch people’s health and stamina, despite that very much being unnatural. She sealed it in a statue, moving it around as it continued to find ways to get around her. The world was in peace for 100 years, recovering from all that happened before and allowing natural magic to grow. However, a group of Sheikah, who had all been ordered to stop their creation of mechanics for fear of their power, believed that the kingdom and Hylia had greatly failed them and left them all to deal with their messes, choosing to follow Ganon’s power, rather than Hylia’s. These people became the Yiga, using their abilities against their tribe and the royal family. They attempted to take down the kingdom, leading the royal family to flee and change their names. For their protection, Hylia changed the power of her blood in the family to time power, so that they would not be easily recognized by the Yiga. The family changed their names, fading into the background.
Meanwhile, the Zonai had upgraded their society quite a lot in their time alone, as their lifespans were long and their minds genius. Hylia granted them the power of light, as she knew they would keep it safe. A thousand years later, with Hylia’s permission, they descended on the land. The world was barren and overgrown, but not in a decayed way. The land was lush and untouched by humans, save for small villages and ruins of large buildings. The people who saw these Zonai come down believed them to be gods created by the Goddesses above, worshipping them. Hylia allowed this. The Zonai created a new civilization across Hyrule, spreading their population across it. With advice from Hylia, along with the rare tips from the GG, they primarily settled in three places to make divine springs of the Triforce and took inspiration from their surroundings for the colors of their clothing. The south with inspiration from Farore and lightning, the northeast with inspiration from Din and fire, and the northwest with inspiration from Nayru and ice. Four groups split apart into the Lomei people, three of which creating complex labyrinths and one creating monuments for the ancient Thunder Dragon, told to them by Farore herself. The Faron Lomei and the South Zonai created an alliance, with a monument of the Thunder Dragon’s head to protect the Spring of Courage. Hylia’s largest temple was rediscovered, and the process of uncovering it began.
The GG, in accordance with Hylia, created three great stones called Sacred Stones and gifted them to three priestesses of the GG. The GG told each of their priestesses to go to their spring and swallow the Sacred Stone so that they could eternally be messengers of them. The priestesses followed through, becoming eternally living dragons of their goddesses. They were renamed for the goddesses, becoming Farosh, Dinraal, and Naydra. The act became forbidden, though the Zonai added horns of the dragons to their ceremonial garbs. These dragons became deities to worm or bless the people of Hyrule. The Lomei migrated into the Depths, save for the Faron ones, and the Depths were sealed by Hylia, as the Depths were the home of darkness and could be too easily used as a beacon for evil. The majority of the Lomei died off, and the Zonai dwindled until there was just two remaining. Hylia and her mothers created seven more Sacred Stones for reasons that Hylia did not know. The new castle was placed on the Great Plateau, with the addition of a Temple of Time.
One of these Zonai, Rauru, was pushed to the last of the old royal line by Hylia, a priestess named Sonia. Rauru took the throne and began a family, two children a mix of Zonai and Hylian, and having both the powers of time and light from both lines. Hylia convinced her mothers to aid her in strengthening each of the children, in case of any disaster. They agreed, and Hylia contacted the child with more magical prowess. The other girl would follow in her aunt Mineru’s footsteps, a girl of science. The first girl prayed to each of the three GG, along with a prayer every night to Hylia, and her power flourished. Rauru, Sonia, and Mineru took three of the Sacred Stones, as directed from the GG. A man was born to the Gerardo once more. Then, through time power from the future, a girl named Zelda fell through time. She came from the distant future, a future where Ganondorf became the Demon King. The girl was brimming with magic, her light magic dim from an incident that even Hylia could not see. If the GG knew, they would not tell her. She had a Sacred Stone from the future, brimming with time magic.
The girl, Princess Zelda, helped Rauru and Mineru after Ganondorf stole the Sacred Stone from Sonia after killing her. Hylia blessed four sages, determined and powerful people from each of the four main races, and named Rauru the King of Light. In a dream, she told him his title and she told him of each of the sages that would help him. These six sages and Rauru, all with Sacred Stones battled against Ganondorf, but through some means, this iteration of Ganondorf had wickedness in his heart straight from Demise, and he was too strong. Rauru sealed him with his own magic, as Ganondorf’s evil magic and Rauru’s light magic directly cancelled each other out. A new castle began to be built on top of the seal. Zelda was at her wit’s end for what to do to return to her time, and Hylia messaged her in a dream to undergo Draconification, the act that had been long forbidden. Despite a dislike that Hylia could not place, the girl prepared to undergo this act. A shattered version of the Master Sword was sent through time, which the girl took, before becoming a dragon of light. This would allow the broken sword to heal as she waited to return to her own time. The Zonai civilizations were sent into the skies by Mineru, and a new Temple of Time, similar to the original, was made on the Great Plateau.
One hundred years later, a manifestation of Ganondorf’s hatred rose in a massive beast. The two daughters of Rauru and Sonia still lived, as they had a longer lifespan than Hylians due to their Zonai lineage. The daughter of science helped reach the Depths, from which a Lomei hero came, a surprising hero but quickly blessed by Hylia and Farore with courage. That hero took the Master Sword of that time, as the other was healing with Zelda, and the other daughter of magic joined with him to defeat the evil, named Calamity Ganon. This monster was defeated with the power of Hylia’s blade and magic, but also an army of Guardian robots and four mechanical giants, named Divine Beasts created by the Sheikah. Like the four sages of Ganondorf’s battle, each of these Divine Beasts were given a champion. Vah Ruta, a trunked beast with a Zora champion and abilities of water. Vah Medoh, a winged beast with a Rito champion and abilities of wind. Vah Rudania, a reptilian beast with a Goron champion and abilities of lava. Vah Naboris, a humped beast with a Gerudo champion and abilities of lightning. With the immediate action of the princess, the hero, and the four champions, Calamity Ganon was sealed away. The Sheikah created shrines for the hero, along with a shrine of resurrection.
10,000 years later, it was a story passed down that every 100 years, Calamity Ganon would be reborn and a group of four champions, a hero chosen by Hylia, and the princess of Hyrule with the power of light. Many worshipped Hylia again, Hylian or otherwise due to the light magic that was needed to stop Calamity Ganon. Unfortunately, while this era had four champions, a hero, and a princess, it was a doomed fight. While the balance of time and light had helped each girl of the royal family, they required more time to grow their abilities. The champions were doing well, but the hero and the princess were not. Hylia watched in despair as the hero sealed himself away, while Zelda, the very same Zelda that had fought in her future but Hyrule’s past, could not awaken her abilities. She struggled with her patience, and her mind was guarded. She was not able to speak to this daughter, yet, due to the guards Zelda had in her mind. She despised her hero, as jealousy clouded her. It wasn’t until she was saved from Yiga by him that she began to let him in. While she lowered her guard and her mind opened, Hylia found that she did not have time to speak to her, as she had to try to help Zelda’s power come out herself. Hylia now knew when Calamity Ganon would reawaken, and she fought to help Zelda.
But Calamity Ganon awoke before Zelda could get her powers. The champions all fled to their beasts, and the Guardians were deployed, but Hylia felt growing despair as the princess and the hero ran to the castle. The group was unprepared, and Calamity Ganon took control of each and every Guardian and Divine Beast, taking control over them. His power grew, destroying everything. The champions fought powerful monsters that Calamity Ganon created to stop them from controlling their beasts, while Link and Zelda were forced to dodge rogue Guardians and gleeful Yiga. At one time, Zelda collapsed in tears, realizing that they would not win, and Hylia wailed with her. The GG stood back and observed, knowing better than to intervene. Link and Zelda continued, but were stopped by Guardians. Link attempted to fight them, but was too weak, and it aimed to kill. In pure desperation, Zelda lunged forward, dropped her guard, and Hylia filled her with as much power as she could in the moment. The power of Hylia erupted from Zelda, freezing the Guardians nearby where they stood. Link collapsed, his life depleting. Hylia begged for Farore to keep the hero alive, just as a sobbing Zelda told a Sheikah footsoldier to take Link to the Shrine of Resurrection. Farore imbued the hero of her Triforce with life, keeping him stable until he was placed in the shrine. Hylia followed Zelda to the castle, where she put herself in a seal with Calamity Ganon. For the next 100 years, Hylia pushed her power into Zelda so that the seal could be held without killing the girl.
She lived for a century longer, until Link awoke and traveled to each of the Divine Beasts, feeing them from Calamity Ganon’s control. Farore watched over the hero, helping him until he could slay Calamity Ganon with a weaker Master Sword. He, with the Bow of Light that Zelda was able to give him, defeated the beast, and Zelda was released. They lived in peace until the ancient Ganondorf began to come out of his seal. Zelda and her hero went below the castle, which had been build as a way to hide Ganondorf’s tomb below the ground, and found the mummified body and Rauru’s arm. Hylia finally saw as Zelda took Rauru’s Sacred Stone, the Master Sword was broken, the hero lost his arm, and Zelda fell through time. Hylia was able to see the hero wake up and begin his journey to regain his life, seeing the Light Dragon and not knowing who she really was. She watched him stop each beast that Ganondorf threw at him, each puppet that Ganondorf hurt him with, and each obstacle that Ganondorf set for him. With the help of Hylia and the GG, he stayed strong enough to continue his journey until he could fight Ganondorf. He gained vision of the Light Dragon’s memories and took the Master Sword, now stronger than ever, and used everything he could against the Demon King. Even when the Demon King turned himself into a massive dragon, Zelda still helped the hero fight until the end. Rauru and Sonia, with the help of Hylia behind them, turned Zelda back into her Hylian form.
Since then, the GG and Hylia stayed in the heavens, watching over the world to ensure its safety. Hylia was still more interactive with the world, whereas the GG used their dragons to keep their blessings intact.

All of this is me pulling together my own ideas based on canon, as well as having fun. Do not take all of this is truth
Some of this may accidentally go against canon. Please do not flame me for it, there’s so much information and I used what I remembered. If anything, please kindly correct me and I’ll see if I can fit it in the chaos
In my personal opinion, souls and spirits are different! Souls are like the inner feelings and barest selves, where the spirits are their passion and inner strength. That’s why the Dark World turns Link into a bunny, but the Shadow Crystal turns Link into a wolf! Kind heart, protective streak

Indeed, Anon! I do, in fact, have this crossover being made. She’s a work in progress, and more information will come out soon!! First, I’m making a big post that, while not immediately obvious, will be very important to the plot of this crossover!
Let’s just say for now that we’re going to be getting a mix of good and evil from some famously good characters across the franchise ;)
I hope you’ll enjoy it once the information comes out! Have a lovely day/night, Anon, and thank you for the ask!!
every time i listen to “you’re a mean one mr. grinch” i can’t help but sit there and think “what did the grinch do to hurt you?” because dude just stands there for 2 minutes and 58 seconds and drags the grinch into the dirt
you know what if someone told me i was a three-decker sauerkraut and toadstool sandwich with arsenic sauce i’d probably be bitter enough to steal christmas too
Interestingly, though The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is narrated by Boris Karloff, the big musical number is sung by the late Thurl Ravenscroft - an American voice actor better known as the voice of Tony the Tiger.
My headcanon is that the Grinch and Tony the Tiger had a bad breakup, and “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” is the resulting breakup song.
You’re not bothered?? I’m not only not bothered, I’m freaking invested. I’m having actual empathetic sadness for The Grinch. I want them to go into couple’s counseling. I want the “ten years later” when Tony visits Whoville on business and meets the reformed Grinch whose heart has grown 3 times its usual size. I want them to reminisce over a shared dinner of roast beast and wine, then spend a drunken night together, then realize that maybe things are different and people really do change. I want a 3-act story where there’s a long dark night of soul searching and the realization that maybe we’ve all got a little bit of bad banana with greasy black peel inside us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make a damned fine banana bread if someone will give us a chance.

Because, Derek is essentially saying "How can you die for someone you don't even know? How can you die for a stranger?"
And while it may seem like Derek is being a bit of a hypocrite---considering he only met Avery a few hours ago, he really isn't.
Because Avery isn't a stranger to him.
He knows Avery. Infinite knowledge let him showed him who Avery was. He knew Avery's name. He probably knew Avery's favorite color and his favorite food. He could literally identify a fake (seemingly identical) Avery.
