Making something gruesome for day 2 will become a tradition at this point :'
Day 2 ready! A Giant Oarfish merman washed upon the shore... A bad omen, some may say.
This tapestry, designed by Justus van Egmont (1601–1674), re-creates one of the strangest tales involving Julius Caesar's flamboyant henchman, Publius Clodius Pulcher. For more info on the art and history, read more HERE.
This would be really funny if it weren’t an email from my bank.
You can actually predict bubbles, especially ones this obvious. Everyone who wants to know how should read A Short History of Financial Euphoria by John Kenneth Galbraith.
Yes, it’s dry.
Yes, it’s 30 years old.
But it gives a tidy little checklist of “is this a bubble?” and AI has been checking every one off like a to do list. Just like NFTs and ponzicoin did before it.
You can also read This Time Is Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly by Carmen Reinhart and Kenneth Rogoff. It's on bookshop.org and, of course, on the Evil Empire website. It's all in the title, which is an ironic quoting of people who say what bubble-istas always say - what AI people are saying right now.

the following events ensued:
1. predictable lively discussion on the preparation of Wienerschnitzel, in which natives and wurstaboos are pro-puff and everybody else is like *confused dog head tilt* why wouldn’t you want the crust to stay ~attached to the thing you put it on? as with other fried foods?
2. thirty “Bad Schnitzel is my band name” jokes
3. thirty “Bad Schnitzel is my stripper name” jokes
4. one “ah yes, Bad Schnitzel! a lovely spa town” joke
5. this absolute masterpiece:
what is with the cop hate??
Oh sorry for the confusion. It’s because I hate cops

the thing about media literacy is that understanding why the author chose to specify that the curtains are blue is the same skill set as understanding that the way the author characterizes all black characters as angry or all chinese characters as meek and silent is racist. it is the same skill set as being able to identify when a news source is biased or when someone is feeding you propaganda. the ability to ask "why did this person choose to present this premise in this specific way?" is a critical skill in a world full of misinformation. why are the curtains blue? maybe it's a characterization detail. maybe it's extraneous worldbuilding. why is this character written as being right all the time? maybe you're intended to disagree with them. maybe it doesn't matter. maybe you should still ask why.
