I am so un-opinionated so this might be a cold take lol

hm…a few things, actually. I think all around, they’re much more compelling than adrienette (get rid of that idiotic SA attempt from felix, which I’m still upset even exists, and I’d say they’d have been more interesting main characters for the second arc of the show).

they both have an edge to them, almost. capable of great emotion, often made to silence it. they’re both quiet, calm, both carrying the weight of their families’ legacies when they really don’t want to. they were both created out of love, only to be manipulated and used by one parent later on (we’re not talking about amelie, she’s great). adorably awkward introverts with default grumpy personalities who’re very soft for the people they love is also just a personal favorite trope of mine. it’s great seeing the two of them connect with each other and make more friends because of that.

and they connect so much stronger to the themes of the show, imo. they carry narrative importance. I think one reason I don’t care much for marinette as our protagonist is that she has zero to do with anything going on, she’s only here because she’s ladybug. adrien’s dad and felix’s uncle was the main villain for ten years, kagami’s mother worked alongside him. they’re all connected to the plot to bring emelie back, so feligami would’ve been a more interesting ship to see as the main focus because the two of them are caught in the throes of the gabriel’s schemes.
