I still believe that to an extent, but this one ā the frightened, trapped, quiet one that only serves as background for the other personas ā is the most raw, honest side of Jax; the part of Jax that, had he not let herself succumb to his fear and self-hatred, would have ultimately saved her from abstraction. Even after it was essentially all over, she still tried, offering Pomni a way to reach her as soon as he had the chance.
Jax wanted to reach out, wanted to ask for help, but his ego, dysphoria, internalized misogyny, and self-hatred continued to hold her back until the very end.

Yeah I shouldāve clarified (pun intended). They had glass in the ancient world especially in Rome and Egypt but it was basically super heated sand and color additives put in a mold and often looked opaque and kinda lumpy. Even if it was blown like it was in some regions it wouldnāt have looked like modern glass.
Clear blown glass like youād see a modern scented candle contained in wasnāt invented until the late Middle Ages and certainly wasnāt mass produced until the 1500s and even then places like Venice that had knowledge of these techniques literally forbid their glassmakers from leaving their city or region so other people couldnāt make it, forcing artificial scarcity and making it a very expensive material.
So if you showed a yankee candle to an Ancient Greek, especially one from a city or something, theyād be like burning scented wax okay not something Iād do but it makes sense. Also how the fuck is that glass transparent.
Like imagine if someone brought you something weird but understandable contained in a material that they said was made out of wood and you could tell that itās clearly made out of wood theyāre not lying about that but it was also completely transparent and see through with no visible flaws. Thatās about the level of weird weāre talking about here.

The way all the 2020s have done so far have been making me categorically against every new generation of tech that comes out is insane. Like I'm from a technological boom generation, saw the first portable phones, nokias & blackberries & flipphones etc, and the first smartphones, and the first ipods & ipads & tablets in general while still having cassettes & DVD & MP3 players around so I know how all of it work, I had computer classes in high school, I did the transition between home desktop computers to laptops and back to gaming computers. But then they started to put internet in your printer & microwave, everything has ads & AI now and every update is worst than the last. I literally loved technology and they ruined it
Crazy about when people tell me how tiny my phone is just because I refuse to upgrade to something without a home button. Guys, new doesnāt always mean better. I donāt need a cell phone thatās the same size as my head, that was kind of the whole point of them being portable in the first place
Antisemitism has always existed but itās never felt this fucking exhausting to be Jewish in all my 21 years of life. Five years ago my non Jewish friends were empathetic when I told them about antisemitism I experienced and now I know I canāt even discuss it with them five years ago I could draw fan art of fictional characters celebrating Hanukkah without getting death threats five years ago I could hang out in niche hobby spaces without seeing someone crochet a Star of David with a slash through it five years ago there werenāt posts on my cityās subreddit minimizing and denying the Holocaust and saying it doesnāt need to be taught in schools five years ago I could wear my Magen David necklace without being spat on five years ago I assumed I could have friendships with people who arenāt Jewish and now I feel like Iām constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop or for them to āfind outā my āsecretā like fuck man. When am I allowed to feel afraid?
This is so real though. The level of guardedness I have to walk through my day to day with is absurd. I canāt talk about my sister, about my weekend, about my lunch, because theyāre all giveaways that Iām āone of them.ā When people like me I want to scream from the rooftops that Iām representing all Jews. When people dislike me I want to remove myself from my identity entirely to protect everyone else. I constantly gear myself up to defend from an attack because I know people who are being attacked on the street and Iāve had to stop posting on Instagram because I get to choose between getting people to follow me so I can get a job or being open about my identity. I have a very Jewish name so thereās really no hiding it, but when people say āwow thatās a unique name, where does it come from?ā I physically brace myself before saying itās Hebrew, just in case. Itās scary.
And when we ask for help, when we point it out, when we say weāre afraid, the only people willing to help us are us. And thatās where this differs from other communities. Because I will always speak out for marginalized communities that Iām not a part of. But they most certainly cannot say the same for us.
