Only about 2,000 people actually stayed behind in Pompeii to get pyroclasted into a grim posterity, out of around 20,000. And the beauty of these horrendously ludicrous dipshit data center projects is that they are entirely preventable, it’s not some inevitable natural disaster, it’s merely a foolish push by developers and speculators. We heard this same crap about it “just being an early step” from Rep. Rob Bresnahan about the big boondoggle bill and cutting medicaid. He said voting for cutting medicaid was “just a procedural step” but of course first steps lead to other steps, and they led to a big bill full of Medicaid cuts, and now he’s trying to claim he’ll fight the cuts, when he could’ve just not voted for the beautiful boondoggle in the first place. Most people have heard that “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” so there’s no excuse for saying this as if early steps don’t lead anywhere.

Of course Curt Camoni is not just the Council Vice President in Jessup, he’s also the Executive Director of the Lackawanna County Convention & Visitors Bureau and on the board of directors of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce. Seems like a conflict of interest to me, and at a minimum that it’s likely he spends a hell of a lot more time at shindigs rubbing elbows with business people, developers, and speculative investors, than he does with the average joes he’s supposed to represent being on the Jessup Borough Council.

\We don’t minimize “panic” when people are running out of a burning building. Wearing a life jacket when you’re out on the water makes sense. Anyone telling you anything different is putting you at risk. It’s the elites who are panicking, it’s elite panic, as usual, the only people actually panicking are the people in charge.

but now that a handful of women have gained enough natural rights to be sexually selective themselves, and an even smaller number of them actually have a preference when it comes to something like male height, men think they are about to go extinct or some shit. like women by any metric or measurement still AREN'T particularly strict with their preferences (and they would have all the right to be, even out of mere spite!), but men are still becoming school shooters, incels and MRAs about it.

like you have all your rights, dude. you have everything you could ever need, and then some. women are not taking anything away from you by deciding that you are not their type because you were never entitled to their company in the first place.

women themselves understand this principle perfectly well, even when your sexual expectations toward them have been downright impossible to satisfy. like yeah, some of you dudes are going to be too short for some women, that's sad, but try being told that you need to look like an anime character that has a waist so tiny it cannot physically exist in real life, tits the sizes of gym balls and a sexually mature body of a 12-year-old, and then we can talk. because even after all that ridiculousness, women still manage to understand that there's no point in trying to chase after a dude who just doesn't like the way they look, no matter why he thinks that. women understand that the actual focus should be on how they get treated otherwise, not whether a random dude invites them to his bed or not.

and to be perfectly honest, i don't even believe in this whole idea that women collectively reject short men. like it's not even a real preference. many women might like the idea of dating men that are taller than them, but that's almost always going to be the case anyway. most women are way shorter than most men, and if there is a particularly short man somewhere, then he only has to find a woman who's even shorter, and that's far from being difficult. like. this is not a real issue in the first place.

It never occurred to me to fire back, “Why do you think that having a vagina is the only thing that makes me female?”

The female body is an intricately complex system that impacts our health and our lives every day, and the vagina is not the defining trait of the female sex but a statistically reliable indicator of it. What TRAs refuse to accept is that having a vagina means your body is supposed to have other components of the female reproductive system. This is not transphobic. This is not intersexist.

My body is both intelligent and messy and beautiful and gross and impressive. Every cell, every hormone, every muscle is why I am alive and strong. My uterus isn't there just to make babies. There are studies showing that it affects cognitive function and plays a role in memory. And my ovaries don't just make eggs. In actuality, the ovaries create hormones that impact bone density, cholesterol levels, heart health, and mood. There are things about my female body that work right, and there are things that don't work right. There are advantages I have over a typical male body, but there are also disadvantages I have compared to the male body. There is nothing about this that I have to be ashamed of.

To tell us that the female body, as a complex and holistic system, simply does not exist is how they can gaslight young girls into thinking that their bodies have not been taken advantage of by males in nearly every society since the dawn of time. It is how you squash any discussion of medical misogyny and doom millions of girls to a future of suffering with endometriosis, PCOS, and countless other disorders. It is how you convince a young girl who doesn't like her breasts because she doesn't like that boys ogle and grope them that it is because her breasts are the problem that must be removed instead of the men who raised these boys to believe that sexual access to her body without concern for her humanity was their birth right. It is how they convince a young girl that if she is poor and left to suffer by a society that does not care for her safety and well-being, that she can simply make an OnlyFans so that all men have access to her body which was never really hers to begin with, so there's no reason why this should be traumatic in the first place.

So when we try to argue that being female does not make us feminine, subservient baby factories, and that we don’t have to alter our bodies in order to deserve rights and dignity, we can hardly get the words out before they’re buried in a chorus of “You’re trying to force me to have babies and wear makeup!! TERFs are conservatives! TERFs are misogynistic bioessentialists!!”

I think it’s incredibly telling that the tras in the notes and comments are so intellectually divorced from the actual meaning of their own rhetoric and ideology that they literally don’t even recognize it when it’s presented to them.

Because what OP is describing is absolutely their ideology, not verbatim but very neatly and succinctly paraphrased

every time you see someone saying not to talk about an issue your group is facing because "what if people that hate us see it" it is a sign that you should be louder. being committed solely to optics at the cost of victims of abuse is something that happens in quite literally every group and movement because victims (whom are majority women and therefore seen as disposable) are not seen as important and addressing abusers' wrongdoings is seen as a great risk to The Cause. and you wouldn't want The Cause to fail and the people who hate you to win, would you?
