Rewatching A Series of Unfortunate Events and like. Count Olaf isn't an idiot. I know the show plays up a bunch of jokes about him being stupid but he cannot possibly be that dumb and also have been a) part of VFD and b) figure out a bunch of legal loopholes to get the Baudelaires fortune. Were his plans eccentric and kinda ridiculous? Yes of course, he's a theater kid, what do you expect. But they're not stupid plans, if the Baudelaires weren't smart and talented and had people around them who were also incredibly unique and powerful every single one of his plans would have worked.
