right now were dealing with "transmisandry isnt real" folks. before that there were people acting like it was a crime to self identify as a bi-lesbian. before that was the rampant acephobia. and that's not even getting into how yall treat anyone who isnt white. people on this website pretend to be progressive while readily and happily bowing their heads to some of the most hateful rhetoric imaginable. you cant expect to seriously consider yourself a good person if your main concern is excluding and invalidating people purely on the basis of their identity. thats terf shit. yallre acting like terfs.
like for real guys can we stop treating the humanity of other people like fucking team sports? for one second???? i think we have more pressing matters going on. for once in your life shut your goddamn mouth and actually self-reflect instead of doubling down on every little hateful thought you have. we all need to understand when were doing the wrong thing at all points in our lives, thats just what being an adult is, especially if were born into privilege. it never ends. get used to it.
to everyone caught up in these pointless rhetorical battles, getting into arguments over what people want to call themselves, or acting like liking or disliking certain media defines a person, or feels the need to argue whenever its pointed out that white people like you have privilege, or obsessed with documenting and doling out punishment to people you feel are bad (yes even if they have done legitimately bad things!), for your sake and everyone elses please just shut up and listen to someone who disagrees with you for once without finding a way to prescribe them as ontologically evil
I have followed you for awhile, so I'm gonna give you the benefits of the doubt that you've been mislead by what's going on with the "transmisandry" conversation. Maybe you will be more willing to listen to me since I am a black woman.
Misandry is not real, it is a completely made up force in the same way "anti-white racism" is a completely made up force, this is feminism 101.
A bunch of trans mascs saw the term Transmisogyny, a term that is decades old and about the specific intersection of transphobia and misogyny (in the same way misogynior is the intersection of anti-blackness and misogyny), and got confused and went "why do the woman get a special word, we want one too".
This movement then was almost immediately taken over by crypto terfs and downright violent misogynists (the coiner of the term Transandrophobia openly posts about wanting to rape lesbians and how much he hates women), and ever since has basically become near identical to the Men's Rights Activists that plagued the Internet around the time of gamergate.
Now the "Transmisandry" discourse has poisoned the well of talking about feminism online. Men have more privilege in our society than women, fullstop. Black men have more privilege over black women, gay men have more privilege over gay women, and yes, trans men have more privilege over trans women. To deny this is to basically forcibly misgender either trans men or trans women.
If you need a word to describe the specific ways transphobia effects trans men, you can just call it transphobia, because that's what it is. Outside of the actions of individuals, this is entirely what's going on.
I know you have probably seen posts talking about how trans men are being silenced for speaking on their issues, or individual cases of trans men that were abused by trans women, and that's why Transmisandry is necessary as a term. I am desperately begging you to see these are the equivalent of when people were saying gamergate was about ethics in game journalism.
I want to call out these tags actually, because this is a fantastic example of exactly the sorts of bullshit that MRAs keep trying to pull any time women talk about their issues.
"misandry as a term has plenty of baggage" is an interesting way to say "misandry is not real and is a tool used to enforce the patriarchy and silence feminists". You are intentionally obscuring the discussion by hiding the part of it that reflects badly on you behind the vague idea of "baggage". It is in the interest of your argument to limit how much people understand what you are talking about, because you KNOW that saying "men actually are oppressed for being men" is obviously wrong.
Nobody is saying that trans men aren't the target of systemic bigotry. It's called "transphobia" and it is in fact a system of oppression that all trans people face, not just trans men. You are deliberately misconstruing what is being said, and you are constructing your argument in a way that intrinsically labels anyone who disagrees with you as a terf, simply because you said so.
And then, of course, we finish it off with textbook transmisogyny, acting like the aforementioned "problems" (which we have already established are made up) should be blamed on trans women exclusively.
This is all straight out of the MRA/anti-feminist playbook, and it is exactly how fascists approach other arguments, such as race, too.
First you obscure your own argument with vague phrasing that makes it look like you're agreeing with the feminist interpretation and just have a polite personal peeve, when what you're actually doing is undermining the entire progressive talking point right from the start.
Second, you invalidate the opposing argument by exaggerating, misconstruing, and straight up lying about what is being argued. Now everyone who would argue against you has to clear out the shit you've piled up before they can even start to disagree with you.
Third, you imply or outright state that anyone who disagrees with you is The Problem ("terf" being the accusation here), shutting down anyone who might try to call you out on your bad faith arguments.
Lastly, you generalize the whole group you're targeting as being The Problem and place them directly in opposition to your argument. This means that now anyone of the targeted group (trans women in this case) is inherently being labeled as The Problem without you ever actually having to directly make an accusation.
In doing all this, you have undermined feminism as a concept, lied about what the goals of feminism are, called all feminists terfs, and then thrown trans women under the bus because we're easier for you to scapegoat than cis women. The implication is, of course that all trans women would disagree with you, and this means that all trans women are therefore terfs. The best part is that if you get called out on it, you can fall back on it by saying I'm putting words in your mouth, or by calling me a terf, or even just by saying "see? look! She hates me for telling The Truth!". You don't even have to bother arguing in good faith because the entire foundation of your argument was made in bad faith.
