It’s my birthday today!! I’m officially 22 :D and my gift to y’all is a drawing of my favorite DC boy <3 <3

I would imagine the batfam members mainly having "useless" quirks as that makes the most sense. None of them were born into this (except Damian). Plus their non-combatant quirks make it easier to hide their identities as people will speculate their quirks have something to do with their hero persona. Which they don't.

They are all able to fight without quirks. So they are not susceptible to quirk-cuffs/containment cells. Or other things like that.

Bruce: Dazzle. Can create a "Dazzle" affect around himself that leave people often starstruck. Literal little stars around him when he does this. Great for his Brucie Wayne persona. Nobody would ever think Batman's quirk is to sparkle.

Kate: Reduction. Is able to reduce another person's quirks down to 10-50%> Depending on her own energy levels. Lasts as long as she has the energy to hold. (Her twin sister has amplification abilities.)

Barbara: Bullet Vest. When adrenaline levels are high, her body hardens her skin to protect vital organs, creating essentially a bullet proof vest. Unfortunately for her, her adrenaline was not high when she answered the door as she was in a relaxing environment with her father.

Dick: Cheer. Creates a burst of happiness/excitement in people, that makes them physically cheer. Actively used when in the circus, not so much now.

Cass: Volume Control. Can mute self or others for a few minutes at a time (only up to two people at a time, including herself) Does help with stealth operations. Also helps when her siblings are annoying her.

Jason: Previously presumed quirkless. Revealed to have a resurrection quirk. Unsure if his quirk has a limit. He supposes he'll find out one day.

Stephanie: Color picker, ability to change the color of things. Usually only lasts an hour or two. Loves making things purple. Curious what would happen if she touched a lantern ring, but has yet to have the chance.

Tim: Product of a quirk marriage. Quirkless.

Duke: Canon abilities, publicly only admits to "flash bangs" as to not lead back to his hero persona.

Damian: Dazzle & energy sword. This brat would inherit from both parents. Only admits to Dazzle to the public. (Damian gets a combat quirk because of his maternal side of the family). He hates his dazzle quirk and thinks it's stupid.

Ra's Al Ghul & Talia: Energy swords. Ability to create a sword out of their own energy. Usually only used as a last defense. They are physically never left without a weapon.

I have other characters written out with their quirks too, and a lot more in my head. I just need to make them not sound like excited gibberish first.

I 100% agree with Tim being quirkless but I also def think he would’ve faked a quirk. Something like “hyper-thought” the ability to process information x-times faster than normal people. When it became obvious that he wasn’t going to manifest a quirk he made something similar to izuku’s quirk notebook where he figured out every way he could to mimic other people’s quirks using tech and then chose a quirk he thought could fly completely under the radar.

And since he was already developing methods to mimic quirks his experimental support tools would’ve made Robin extremely versatile and impossible to guess who he was via his quirk or lack thereof. Post a death in the family Bruce would’ve never allowed a quirkness child into the mask and bc of Alfred’s military background I think he would’ve been of a similar stance despite the quirkist connotations of discriminating against Tim’s ability and potential due to lack of a quirk. I imagine that he probably would’ve been able to get away with “hyper-thought” until honestly some interaction with an ancient being like Ra’s, Klarion, or Mister Mxyzptlk (all three of those examples would’ve kept quiet anyways since it’d be more entertaining to see where Tim’s ability to bluff led him) who are more experienced and understand the ins and outs of quirks better than a teenager could ever cover for.

Tim is very prepared and paranoid so he’d be able to hide himself very well- the clench? How could anyone have predicted catching that. RH titans tower? C’mon Bruce, I think faster- I don’t move faster I was overpowered. RR ‘09 beginning - Dick. Why don’t you believe me, I know shit, I know THIS. YJ ‘98 - OF COURSE I can understand Bart, he’s fast but my brain is faster (Tim has figured out how to use the approximate shape of Bart’s mouth at top speed and the cadence of words to guess what he’s saying with about 80% accuracy. Plus Bart might/probably already knows Tim is quirkless but doesn’t care and assumes everyone else knows too so he just never brings it up. Besides, everyone mishears sometimes.)

There’s no tech method to verify if someone has a quirk or not with the exception of nullification (like Aizawa or quirk suppressant technology) but even then Tim could argue that his quirk isn’t an emitter quirk (as nothing has been emitted) but a mutation that physically changes the chemistry of his brain (of course not detectable by X-rays and MRIs, gotta try harder than that.) I also imagine that if Tim was from a quirk marriage and he had the extra bone that the bone would have been surgically removed very early on in his life under the misguided assumption that it was the presence of the bone that caused quirklessness in developing children. Stems the power flow of the quirk-meridian or something like that, pseudo science and old wives tales. Tim also bases a lot of his worth on ability and how useful he can be so he’d hate to disappoint and hate even more to be looked down upon.

Not a fan of how the story from issues 6 to 7 jump and I'm left missing so so much context but the fight in issue 7 was just aaaughhhhhh <3 <3, Tim Drake I love you so so much <3 <3 <3 that's my booooy!!!! Also very much NOT a fan of when artists draw Jason's mouth through his helmet, ewugh. BIG fan of Damian just saying "Amateur" over and over again, lol- wanna maybe try and expand your insult roster buddy?

Riko, my darling I love you, you’re so cool. I wish she was more talked about bc I hadn’t heard of her at all b4 reading We Are Robin.

Love that Duke called out Alfred at the end for being the one behind The Nest, cute ending where all the remaining ROBINs came back together to help one of their own. Wish Shug had had more screen time bc she was cool too. Not sure how popular this was when it originally came out but if I had read it in 2015/2016 it def would’ve gotten me to read rebirth for more ROBINs content.

One silly little thing that did irk me is throughout the series in the gc all the teens used ^ to mean up. Up is SUCH a short word, man 😭😭 it takes 3 clicks to write ^ instead of the two to just write the word up and it’s 20-freaking-16, there is NO reason to try and abbreviate such a small word bc of a character limit those literally don’t exist anymore in texting. And like?? They hardly used any other abbreviations. Next time I hope they used an actual teenager to cross reference bc it’s small things like this that make it clear these scripts are being written by gen-x-ers lol

Final verdict, We Are Robin 9/10, good pacing, good story, good characters.

I especially loved Izzy’s relationship with her parents. Not being able to live up to her big brother even after he became literally the worst ever and died BECAUSE he was the worst ever. I need to actually find out what happened to that guy who killed him bc he never gets mentioned again in this miniseries lol. Big fan of the show don’t tell approach to introducing all the characters home lives- works especially well due to the ROBINs ages.
