Reading the (officially preserved) DC Showcase issues due to the handful of now-iconic characters that were introduced within it, and I just find it funny that Bob Kanigher and John Broome were out here doing meta humour back in 1956

"Why would anyone care about comics characters other than Batman? Tumblr users only care about Batman so comics posters should only talk about Batman"

I don't want the Trickster in the current Flash run to be Axel because Axel has had ENOUGH alright comics in the last decade while James hasn't had a good comic since 2008 and was actively brought back to life so he could be ruined so I think James and James's fans (me) deserve a fun comic a little more, but the thought of the James and Wally relationship being boiled down to "I have a soft spot for the Trickster. The guy just tries so hard!" makes me want to scream.
