Al Capone was the first American to make $100 million, and he had to do âsomethingâ fof his money too.
Al Capone actually cared about poor people, though. He came from a family of immigrants and took care of his own, donating to charities and even running a soup kitchen (x, there are better sources but Iâm lazy). Some people even characterized him as a kind of modern Robin Hood.
Let me be clear: Iâm not saying Al Capone was a good guy. Iâm saying he mightâve been a better guy than Jeff Bezos.
And Iâm saying that while Al Capone wasnât a great guy, he was DEFINITELY A better guy than Jeff Bez-ass. This is on mobile, so I canât do resources right now, Iâll add them later.
Capone, even though he didnât fire the bullet, once paid for the hospital bills of a woman that had been caught in the crossfire of a scuffle. And while he was there, after paying her medical bills and giving her over $100 of flowers to cheer her up, he paid off all the bills of the children in the hospital. Which he did regularly. He sent flowers to the families of his dead enemies. HE IS THE REASON MILK HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE! His son (or nephew or something) died from complications from bad milk. And he got to work and made the milk and dairy industry hold to a much tighter standard, with included sell by dates and expiration dates. Not because it was family that got sick (or died), but because he found out that a lot of kids were getting sick off of bad milk products.
Capone was always a gentleman, he paid his workers well, treated his women good, and protected his own. If one of his workers got hurt or died, he would pay the bills and expenses, and help out their families.
He wasnât a good guy, but the dude had a moral standard that Jeff Bez-ass doesnât even pretend to have.
Oh, and Capone also heavily supported local shops, went to baseball games with his kids, funded his workersâ children to go to school, and was the kind of guy that wouldnât sucker punch ya unless it was absolutely necessary.
How many rich assholes do we know of that does that kind of stuff?

This man has two bakeneko following him. two cats that were well cared for and lived long lives, who now watch over him.

I really appreciate how it was formatted as âthis is a common problem, here is a solution to try in your own workâ and not âoh god, donât do that!â without any extra help. And I extra appreciated the âdonât rely on adverbsâ bit, because they do have their place but they arenât the only way actions can be emphasized.

itâs actually really fascinating to me that
roses originally grew almost sideways, their thorns intended to be used as hooks to expand and spread, their petals were limited to five and their fragrance was overpowering. they attracted wildlife, creatures, birds, anything to them. their intent was to propagate like an idea.
humans then bred them to have more petals, to grow upright and therefore require excessive pruning just to remain upright, and then the thorns became largely superfluous
then, when those newly bred roses needed plucking and pruning, and humans pricked their fingers on the thorns, guess what happened?
the rose became this dual figure of bloom enticing and thorn rejecting, it became an idea of things that donât add up, that bring you closer and cut you
when in reality, humans did this to themselves and in doing so, did this to the rose
Today I learned that Van Halen have that rider in their contract about âa bowl of M&Ms with all the brown ones removedâ in order to know at a glance if the promoter read the entire contract. And the reason they do THAT is because they once had a stage collapse because a promoter hadnât read the proper way to set up all the specific technical stuff.
So if the band goes in the dressing room or catering and sees brown M&Ms, they know they have to double-check the stage setup for safety.

For those of you learning Japanese who watch anime thereâs an awesome website called Animelon.
Itâs basically a website where you can watch anime with Japanese + English subtitles at the same time, and you can highlight words to learn the meaning of them. You can see all the words youâve looked up and get tested on it too. The subtitles are pretty customisable; you can add hiragana/katakana only subtitles, remove the romaji ones, etc.
Unfortunately some of the words are a bit shifty and itâs (as far as I know) only available in English, but regardless, Itâs an excellent website!!
