Harry getting effusive praise for the Meltdown performance from so many sources has me very emotional today. I’m so proud of him and so grateful he shares his gifts with us.
At his most musically vulnerable.
And he sounded, arguably, the best he ever has.

This Twitter account always has the most beautiful articulation of Harry and Louis’ music and love story. @apparentlybychance sent this link to me this morning and made me cry.

The words here sound gracious and kind but there's an undercurrent I notice a lot in fandom spaces — a quiet hierarchy where loving an artist the 'right' way becomes a form of exclusion, even when it's dressed up as generosity. The 'I feel sad for people who don't get him' framing is a good example. It sounds like patience but it positions the writer above everyone else by default. I don't think you're doing this consciously, which is maybe worth sitting with.
I’m entertaining this because I’m curious if you understand what we’re talking about when we say we’re loving Harry ‘the right way’. You can criticize internal hierarchy in fandom all you want, but do you know why there is hierarchy in this particular fandom? Why there is a level of exclusion?
It’s not because we believe that being a fan is some tiered experience you earn over time that only long-term ‘true’ fans can give you access to. It’s not because we’re here to gatekeep (God, half of us can’t stop yelling it into the void just to see if it takes.)
It’s because Harry’s closeted, love. And knowing that single nuance does change the way you interact with him and his art entirely. There is a right way to love him: you first have to actually see him. There is a right lens with which to view his art (a queer, closeted lens), a right way to read his queer signaling (not queerbaiting), a right way to understand that his PR stunts are not solely to keep him in the public eye but also to control him and, depending on how far you believe, control his partner.
When people don’t love Harry this way, they exclude themselves because it changes his motivation for everything. Dramatically. His love songs become markers for his numerous flings — a discography of fuck boy lyrics. His signaling gets twisted into something he does to be ‘mysterious and interesting’. His pap walk and stunts are to keep him top of mind, because he has too much of an ego to let himself disappear.
So, yeah, you read my tone correctly, so let me be clear: I do position myself as above the people who don’t understand, and even more so those that don’t want to understand. Ten toes down. Understanding Harry has made me better — a better consumer, a better creative, a better friend, a better fan of him specifically, if not in general, better at understanding myself, better at media literacy, the list goes on.
But like I said in my third point, that’s not because I’m smarter or different. It’s because the fandom allowed me time to figure it out — which is what I asked people to be generous about. I’m not here to gatekeep, but I’m also not here to recruit. I believe people who want to love him, who have a genuine interest in his person, will eventually get there without my help.
Which begs the question: why were you so affected by my thoughts and my tone that you had to leave me a pseudo-benevolent message you didn’t feel brave enough to put your name on? Did the hit dog holler? I don’t think you’re doing this consciously, which is maybe worth sitting with.

Ugh. I hate looking at videos where they clearly want to connect with each other but can't.

Louis liked perrie's ig post and that makes me think thoughts about perrie shit talking zayn recently🤣 and I have no evidence but I just know they shared TEA and possibly unleashed some suppressed shared frustration about zayn
That's such a lovely photo. And sweet that Louis noticed it. I don't know if he's still speaking with Perrie, but if they are, I'm sure they have plenty to talk about where Zayn is concerned.

He’s such a lovely person

He's truly so compassionate and thoughtful.

She didn't confirm the relationship who is saying that. She was talking about things from the DWD time in very general broad terms and there was so much happening then. When she talked about dispelling rumors to the public she could have been talking about her fighting with Jason or the Shiah and Florence drama or any publicly she got because of Harry like she as the director slept with him on set. And here's how I know she's under a very strict NDA where she can't even mention Harry's name. She talked about how Jason would be on holidays with his girlfriend and no one would care but when it was his time to have kids and she would be "somewhere" the public would attack her for being a bad mother. The somewhere is Harry's concerts and she can't talk about specifics like that.
Thank you for clarifying it all. Like I said, I didn't listen. And don't intend to. But this sounds much more realistic to me in terms of how I believe her contract to be written.
I think the fan that said he was a bit ill on Monday was right. I have never seen Harry drinking so much water during a concert. And he was a bit anxious and stressed and so relieved after he hit all the notes in Bridge over troubled water - his thank god gesture said it all. It was a fantastic evening. So raw and emotional. I am very thankful for the streamer. I think during fine line she cried a bit, the camera was a bit shaky but she did it as quiet as possible which was so endearing. I was emotional as well watching Harry doing such a special concert, I am still in awe about it.
And I hope we will get a few more videos, maybe even an official one.
Harry said he was at a few gigs of Meltdown and I think that was what he got for Gemma stepping up and being nice with ZK. I fear he will have to start trodding her around soon again.
My fingers are crossed that he is getting better, but tonight he can lean on the fans singing which was not possible yesterday. And that is why it this Meltdown concert will be my No1 Performance for a long time. Harrys voice and the symphony orchestra was pure magic.
It truly was magical. And yeah, I do think he's battling some sort of illness/cold. I'm sure the stress his owners team is putting on him is not helping at all.
It was an absolutely brilliant performance. I'm so happy for him that his voice held up. And god bless Gemma for being the best big sister.
So true! I’m ashamed as a European that we actually shared about her.

Hi, this is going to sound like a rant, so sorry in advance. Maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but I just find it so sad that yesterday Harry gave one of his best performances as a solo artist — and honestly one of the best performances compared to other artists imo — yet all of that is being overshadowed by Olivia’s interview, even when what she said was so vague.
It bothers me seeing how people literally use Harry’s name to get attention and choose the worst possible moments to do it. I’m not saying Harry is a victim before people say I’m “victimizing” him or something. I know that at this point he understands the price of having a career like this, but that doesn’t make it any less unfair or frustrating.
You literally have people from every direction trying to get a piece of him: the label, managers, pr girlfriends fighting for attention, people in the music industry using his name, etc.
I know that the freedom he has and the feeling of being accepted on stage, through his self-expression and all of that, doesn’t come for free. And I think that’s enough for Harry and allows him to balance the pros and cons. But as someone who has been a fan for years, sometimes I’m not completely sure.
I know he’s in a much better place mentally now, but based on what he communicates through his art, I’d say there’s this kind of melancholic acceptance that seems to follow him.
No notes.
Someone needs to tell OW that she wasn’t dating Harry, she was dating Jack from DWD 😂
LOL! She wasn't even doing that. She was being a fucking coattail-riding loser who broke up her family and sabotaged her own career in the hopes that a gay man would fall in love with her and she could live out her A-list celebrity dreams.
Hi Gina! I was at Harry’s meltdown show last night and just wanted to comment quickly on ‘influencers getting the tickets’ pov. I’m in my 40s, my lovely friend is in her 50s and neither of us are big on social media. She got our tickets because she went to the pop up last week and was offered them by a lady with a clipboard who gave out 75 pairs of tickets to Amex card holders, so freebie tickets were definitely not just given out to young, pretty things who have a big following. We were so unbelievably lucky and were still expecting it not to be real right up until she was emailed the tickets just after 4:00pm.
We had the best night, and honestly didn’t see any influencer types there. We were both expecting it to be wall to wall celeb types but it wasn’t at all - it was a special night for the lack of influencers, celebrities, felt like real fans, real music lovers and real people made it into the room.
There were Harry fans there, obvs, but there were a lot of people who were more ‘royal festival hall, enjoy a good orchestral arrangement’ type. It was so refreshing to attend a show like that - like, not people who have fandom clout but people who have an appreciation of all types of music. It was so good to see Harry celebrated by ‘proper’ music fans, like he can hold his own in that crowd (we all know he can, but for that kind of music lover to see him in that light as well was amazing).
I didn’t really see the lady in the row in front of us film much, but she did film the cello soloist, rather than Harry. It’s really cool he’s tapping into a new audience by doing things like that. I know that might upset some fans, that people who aren’t already big fans shouldn’t have been there, they don’t have the ‘right’ or something, but we thought it was brilliant.
I’m not super aware of his team, but as we were leaving, my friend clocked these two (gorgeous) girls and said she thought they were his dancers. We kind of hovered near them and made eye contact and they said ‘hi’, we had a really lovely chat (it was the dancer with the shaved head and the one with the long hair), we joked and said he must be an awful boss to make them come to this on their day off, they laughed and were like ‘this is the best job we’ve ever had, he so nice and such a great person to work with’. Like, we knew that must be the case, but it was cool to hear it first hand, you know?! They asked if we were going to anymore gigs, I told them I’m super excited to take my kids tonight, and they were like ‘oh they’ll love it, it’s such a cool show for kids to see’. They were lovely and even took a selfie with us.
It was such a great way to end the most amazing night!
Hope you have a great day and enjoy the shows you’re going to ❤️
Hi darling! This is such a beautiful report. I'm so happy that, overall, it felt like a show for people who appreciate music, rather than the usual overzealous fans and/or people who only care about clout. And I completely agree that it's brilliant that at least SOME tickets went to Southbank Center season ticket holders, who are just real music fans. It allows Harry's audience to grow and for his legacy as an artist to reach beyond a pop audience.
And thank you so much for sharing what Harry's dancers had to say. I'm honestly not surprised, but it's so sweet to hear it again. ❤️
Hi I am really sorry if this has been asked. I have just caught up on all of Harry’s meltdown videos after work. I am in complete awe.
I don’t know L’s schedule… is it possible he could have been there last night 🥹 what a magical performance.
I doubt he was able to. He had a show on the 14th. But if the pics we got yesterday were taken a different day, technically he could have been there. Whether he was there or not, he was definitely watching. ❤️
And its pretty telling reading between the lines ... OW said in the interveiw she wanted to hit back and come out and say im none of these things and actually this is the realtionship between me and harry but she was told no she cant do that lmao and it will just make things worse so I guess they do have a tight lid on the pr gf of what they can say to the media while stunting with him.
Oh, 100%. Can you even imagine how far someone like her would take it if there weren’t legal boundaries she’s afraid to cross?

People are freaking out because Olivia "confirmed" the relationship in that podcast...well if you need someone to find holes in contracts, she's the best.
I haven’t listened. And I don’t care. She’s so pathetic that she would still be talking about a PR relationship that ended four years ago. But it just shows that she’s got no sense of morality and less than zero relevance without attaching herself to Harry. Just like all of these other talentless hacks around him.
heyyy gina!! do u know if the meltdown orchestra thing will be uploaded on youtube ?
I don’t know anything. I didn’t see any cameras (besides Pham scurrying around). The full audio was uploaded by a fan here.
