T shirt that says “I ❤️ getting laid” & then on the back it says “to REST” with a photo of a coffin + the name & phone number for a local cemetery. Please follow for more advertising ideas
vampire sucking blood from the inner thigh can be something so erotic and more vampire media needs to get on this train
look at this post with your eyes if you agree
they're executing the count from sesame street for violating the masquerade
Okay, here's the thing. Count von Count is absolutely a vampire, we know this. However, he's on a children's show. A very popular one. One that we all, collectively as a society, firmly believe is 100% real.
But we all, again as a society, accept at some point that it's secretly not real. It's a fiction for children that we all say is real but actually isn't. Count von Count is a real vampire, and at the same time he cannot be a vampire, because he's on a show for children that is only pretend real. We all want him to be real, but we all know at a certain point that he isn't.
He is the Camarilla's long con, their best psyop. He is the only vampire allowed to publicly breach the Masquerade every day, because by doing so, he is making the Masquerade that much more believable. People who claim that vampires are real have to deal with others saying "What, like the Count on Sesame Street? Suuuuee, buddy, vampires are real...and they count things..."
If Count von Count was an actual threat to the Masquerade, he would have been blood hunted decades ago. And Jim Henson and Sesame Street would have been quietly disappeared. But the Justicars know that he's doing his part to ensure that the Camarilla's Masquerade is doing what it needs to.
saw a post about how a universal queer reading of vampires in all art falls very short, which it does, but figured I disagree with enough of the specifics that I should probably not reblog it with a wall of text in the tags. anyway vampires can represent many things in different texts and any sort of blanket “vampires represent x” statement is going to simply be untrue!
with queer readings, what tends to frustrate me is the refusal to pick up on the homophobia inherent to the queer subtext in a lot of vampire classics. being unable to separate that a dynamic is like personally fun and sexy to you vs what the actual text is doing is… well not going to have any major repercussions but it will annoy me. I don’t really subscribe to the representation framework— I don’t think minority characters should have to represent anything— but like the way people will genuinely point to Carmilla as a positive example of queerness in classic fiction is insane to me! or like Dracula’s preying on Jonathan isn’t sexualized because yay bisexuality (lol!) it’s just another facet of how the character is meant to be perceived as a deviant, corrupting foreigner
the other problem with forced positive readings is that it often means people will just refuse to talk about the inherent predatory angle of these dynamics. and there is of course always the clean splitting of sexual violence vs positive romance. so a good and positive queer reading means that the romance must be wholly uncomplicated and only about repressed desire which means that there can be no elements of sexual violence or predation— no matter how textually explicit that may be
and well the moral of this story is that art can be about many things and include all of these things at once rather than a single reading or metaphor pushing everything else out. but try telling the internet that

*hitting ttrpg fan with a stick* not everything fantasy is about D&D!
*hitting vtm fan with a stick* I have nothing against you, but I kind of assume you're into this!
*hitting Changeling: the Lost fan with a stick* this is crucial to establish your backstory
*hitting LARP fan with a stick* this is how you play the game!!
reading through the werewolf: the apocalypse handbook after reading through & playing vampire: the masquerade is so funny because the politics between these two societies is literally just this

Hmmm in light of some current "drama" going around...
Just a reminder that Two-Spirit identities are closed cultural practices. Non-Natives cannot be 2S.
Being Two-Spirit is not just a matter of gender/sexuality - there is an important cultural, and often spiritual responsibility. You can't just on a whim decide to call yourself 2S because you like the term.
obsessed. also makes sense when you remember than butterflies drink blood
I love the lore for the World of Darkness (sometimes, though half of it is also Big Yikes), but sometimes I just get frustrated with the system. It can feel very clunky and weird.
I don't know.
Maybe it's because I'm used to other Tabletop Systems (was raised on Dungeons and Dragons, been loving FATE and Pathfinder).
Sometimes it makes me just want to switch/convert it to a different system (probably FATE since that one fits my gaming/DM style of heavy narrative focus and easier to remember mechanics).
Am I the only thinking this or do other people also have similar frustrations with the system of the World of Darkness?
Note; This also includes the Chronicles of Darkness, in case that wasn't clear. Mostly because they very much are related/constantly compared/are a sorta spiritual successor type thing in my head.
so last week I had the horrible idea to put every single playable thing you can be in WoD into a wheel, with the purpose being to roll and then make a guy for whatever you land on.
(Mummy isn't on here though bc thats not real to me)
i don't know how well this'll work since im combining some 5th and 20th stuff but! here it is if you wanna give it a spin or something ☆
Too many rich people buying medieval castles and then renovating the interior to look like a completely normal 21st century house. Sorry but if you're going to live in a castle you need to commit to the bit. If I lived in a castle I would restore it just enough to be barely liveable and pretend I was a poor but prideful nobleman in his crumbling estate, still clinging to the last vestiges of his family's fading name.

more vampires with multigenerational adopted human offspring. they wake up, get the tykes ready for pre-school, beg their preteen not to get caught on their phone in class again (caught being the emphasis, they're a realist), venmo their college kid for "textbook money" (as if they don't teach all their kids how to pirate that shit), have a lunch meeting with their 49-year-old-realtor-kid to discuss the possibility of quietly buying another local warehouse that would absolutely not be used for tax evasion/illegal artifact storage purposes, then spend the afternoon in a bloodthirsty mahjong battle at their eldest kid's (82) snazzy new retirement community
Oh I like this. I even know where I could write it.
Hmmmmmm....
I love VTM but I think my least favorite thing about the way they do the embrace is that the banes and all the bad things are supposed to take hold immediately. These are vampires. Theyre immortal. Let it take time, and it will be so much more horrifying.
Let the new Nosferatu scratch their head two nights in and a chunk of hair falls out. They look in the mirror three nights later and realize how much thinner their skin has gotten, and they touch their jaw carefully, and a strip of skin peels away to reveal the jaw underneath.
Let the new Malkavian be so so so paranoid because they KNOW whats coming, but by a month in, nothing seems to have happened. And theyre so worried, but theyre hoping against the universe that please, maybe they'll be the exception. Maybe they wont fall to the voices. And then they get home and talk to their friend about their worries, and after a little while, they feel relieved. The friend helps, so they keep talking to them. A few months go by and they are happy that they were worried over nothing, and they never even realize theyve been talking to the walls this whole time.
Let the new Ventrue have to figure out their blood limitation themselves. Their first few nights or weeks, they can drink whatever, but slowly the curse sets in. They drink some blood and immediately puke it up. They drink another type and break out in hives. Another sends them into torpor. But they HAVE to keep going. They have to find what they CAN drink, because until they do, they'll feel nothing but hunger and pain and rage and suffering. And the longer it takes to find it, the worse the wrong ones will be
Let the banes take time to take hold! I think thats significantly more interesting than everything just happening all at once all in one night, especially since these are immortal beings we're talking about. The horror of the vampire is supposed to be that all of the suffering is eternal. Let this take some time too.
