Dani Moonstar in one of those "Big Auntie Energy" shirts
every year small towns and indigenous communities across canada are burnt to nothing by horrific wildfires and americans go on the internet to complain about it and blame us bc the smoke has spread to their state. i’m so tired.
go yell at mark carney or your own local politicians about climate change and urge them to do more to stop it. the namaygoosisagagun first nation had their community destroyed today. you can find a link to donate to them here. donate to your local food bank. go to the beach next week when the smoke clears and you don’t have to think about it anymore while the people who’s lives have been destroyed will have to pick up the pieces and try to move forward when we are already in a huge cost of living crisis across the country.
rbing with other places you can donate to to support those impacted by the fires!
true north aid (an organization aimed at providing support to remote/northern indigenous people in canada)
canadian red cross wildfire fund
ontario spca and humane society (links to their donate page specifically aimed at supporting pets and animals in areas impacted by the fires)
and the anishinabek nation’s page where you can donate to support the namaygoosisagagun nation who had their land destroyed by the fires is still accepting donations
Insurance for my Long Term Disability is having me take a 10 week rehab program. I looked up the program online and I'm already getting some red flags... The homepage literally says it's about (direct quote) "preventing needless disability".
I also of course got hit with a "you're so young" comment on the call to set this up. 😩
why is the two wolves meme anti-indiginous?
It’s based on a story that is falsely attributed to Natives, usually but not always the Cherokee. It’s a settlers’ approximation of how we talk and what we believe. To parrot that phrasing uncritically is pretty anti-indigenous, and the fact that it’s so commonplace is indicative of how little thought it given to the mockery of Indigenous spirituality and how frequently it’s appropriated

Been getting a lot of people throwing up Indigenous folks at me like shields to excuse antiblackness and it's like. Knock it off. We both out here going through shit and should be allies. And you- likely not an Indigenous person yourself- are throwing them up as if to say I can't talk about anything because "well what about" yes well you see numerous things happen all at once in this so called life.
I hate it when people do this, and its so disingenuous because like. There's racism towards every ethnicity within every ethnicity. There's a LOT of antiblackness in Native communities, and there's Native targeted racism within Black communities. Neither is acceptable. Some (SOME!) Black people being racist towards Indigenous people doesn't suddenly make antiblackness okay. You cannot base your anti racist ideology on "well I can/should be able to do THIS because there's racism targeting x people in that community" because that's not antiracism and if you do this, you don't actually care about racism. And people using Indigenous people as some kind of "gotcha" do not care about racism. Indigenous people can fucking see what you're doing, and we can tell you don't actually give a shit about us, so don't pretend like you do. And outside of that, Black Americans are Indigenous too!
The 19th annual North Preston Day parade rolled past the community centre on Saturday, bringing residents together to celebrate their histor
When Vivian Cain founded North Preston Day in 2007, the parade had just 10 cars. But the joy it brought to local children meant everything to her. “We don't have a swimming place where they can swim," Cain said. "We don't have a skating place where they can skate. We don't have none of that stuff. “They look forward to [the parade] and a chance to get all together as one big community that lives in pride and unity.” Nearly two decades later, the event has grown to feature dozens of colourful floats, ATVs, vibrant costumes, bouncy castles, live music and local food. The annual tradition celebrates the culture of historic North Preston, which is the largest Black community in Nova Scotia. The 19th annual parade kicked off Saturday on Simmons Road, passing the community centre before winding through the neighbourhood. Some residents set up lawn chairs on their properties to watch the procession, while others danced and sang along behind the moving floats. “What we're trying to do right now is to bring families together,” Cain said.
Literally the only bright spot of that entire Avengers Doomsday trailer was Gambit and Shang-Chi. Which is probably a scene that will last about as long as it was in the trailer because this fucking film is gonna be such a shitshow with a bloated cast.
What the fuck is Namor wearing???? He's fully clothed and yet feels way more naked
The Russos really said sorry this character can't be overtly Indigenous in our film
I still haven't started The Vampire Lestat yet. I've just been absorbing it second-hand through Tumblr... and honestly, I feel as though I'm getting as much as I want to through this method anyway. Because at least this way I can keep up with the characters I actually give a shit about, without having to put up with Lestat askdfljasldfkhsahgj
Yeah. So. Having been spoiled (thank god) for the last episode. I am not watching that shit.
At least we got IWTV season 1 and 2 and they were pretty damn good. But that's enough for me because it sounds like TVL just actively betrayed all the good that was there.

The Amnesty International report that JK Rowling is trying to censor through legal threats.
It can also be found on Google Drive here and on Bluesky here.
Please save and share this info where possible. This report has since been removed by Amnesty International due to legal threats of libel from JK Rowling. This information is no longer easily accessible.
Just woke up to more harassment spam so anonymous asks are going off for a while.
God I am dreading Tuesday tbh. I have two health appointments and also a call with my former manager about an internal info hub I set up when I was there that they need help with. I'm gonna be so drained.
Dani Moonstar Jumping In Points
My girlfriend asked about where to start reading comics with Dani Moonstar - specifically, what would be good places to jump in. This list is for anyone else also curious about dipping their toes into Dani but is perhaps intimidated by her wiki page.
(This is not a full reading list! I have a full reading list here organized by my own personal recommendations.)
Option 1: Classic Comics
If you are okay with reading classic comics from the 80's, then the best place to start reading Dani is, in my opinion, the original New Mutants.
This series actually begins with a graphic novel, and then intertwines with other stories and specials throughout. The easiest thing to do would be to search for the New Mutants Classic Volume TPBs, as they collect all the relevant stories in order for you. (Yes, you can find the TPBs on piracy websites too.)
Option 2: Modern Comics
New Mutants Vol 3 (2009) is the next chronological decent jumping in point for reading comics with Dani. Keep in mind though that I am using the word decent and not good, for a reason. The art in this series is often horrendously whitewashing multiple characters, for one thing.
It should also be noted that this series is post M-Day, and Dani does not have her mutant powers at this time. She is still shown to be an effective superhero, though.
Option 3: Recent Comics
If you want to cut right into the more recent comics, then New Mutants Vol 4 (2020) is perfect for you. This series started with the Krakoa age of X-Men, so a) everyone is back to life who was previously dead and b) everyone who lost their powers has them back by now. All the Krakoa comics were designed with potential new readers in mind, and I personally think this volume is a better option to start with than volume 3, actually, for that reason.
"Can I just start with the current Moonstar volume?"
I mean yeah, you can... There's nothing stopping you from just picking up Moonstar #1. But you would definitely be missing out on a lot of homage and references to her character's history, especially from the classic comics. So I really would stress that the classics are worth checking out too, unless you're the type of person who just really can't look past the datedness of the 80's.
First Nations chiefs countrywide are expressing concern about the lack of engagement after two pipelines were announced in Alberta, B.C. and
First Nations leaders from western British Columbia to southern Ontario are expressing concern at governments' lack of consultation with them before two recent high-profile pipeline announcements. Chiefs in three provinces told CBC Indigenous there was no consultation at all before the plans were unveiled. The head of the Anishinabek Nation, which advocates for 39 communities in Ontario, is urging the province to apologize and take a step back after announcing a plan to build an oil pipeline from Hardisty, Alta., to Sarnia, Ont. "It was blindsiding, but at the same time it's not surprising considering the behaviour of both levels of government," said Grand Council Chief Linda Debassige.

I actually really like the term genderqueer, because the only thing it specifies about your gender is that it's queer in some way. Does that mean you're nonbinary? Binary trans? Cis with some freaky cool gender presentation stuff going on? None of those or all of those? It doesn't matter and I think that's beautiful.
How much do you wanna bet this is all just from one pathetic person spamming me
