calliope-warrenâ:
A smile quickly made its way to her lips at the sight of Lenore. Cal wasnât even sure how many generations of women separated the two of them, but since she was little sheâd always thought of the vampire -once a witch- with such admiration and respect. âI promise I havenât gotten into any trouble yetâ she said with a playful smile. She could understand that Lenore might want to keep an eye on her but Calliope was in no way as much of a rascal these days as sheâd been when she was a kid. âIâm behaving, auntâ she reassured her.
Lenore let an easy smile fall on her face as she glanced back at Calliope. She was glad that the past didnât mess up every generation that came after her and the woman standing in front of her was proof it flourished. âI didnât come in here for that kind of check up, I promiseâ Lenore chuckled waving off the potential for concern. â I was going to ask how well you were adjusting to being here. It can be a little weird at first. Or maybe that was just meâ She chuckled

Why would anyone hire someone without experience was beyond her, but the witch didnât question it because she needed the job. So here she was, the newest bartender at Terranceâs. Her absolute lack of knowledge on how to mix drinks had progressed into a mere relative lack of knowledge over the past weeks. Not so much because anyone had bothered to teach her the ropes but because Cal had been doing some online research and trying a few things at home. âWhat can I get you?â she asked as a client slid into a stool by the bar.
Lenore liked to keeo in touch with people she knew. It was a way for her to keep everything in order in her very long life and a way to have a record of people and time. It was why she had entered the bar and noted the familiar face in the distance. In all her years she tried to keep track of family even if it had taken many different branches in different directions. She always at least wanted to be available. â Itâs okay, Iâm not drinking tonight. â Lenore smiled as she took a seat.Â

Given that Javier Morales had started working on a non-profit organization to help those struggling and in pain in Lethe, Landon wanted to help. So, with the disaster that had erupted on New Years, he had set up free grief counseling for anybody who had seen the spirit of a loved one or just seen something or someone that they hadnât wanted to see.Â
He heard someone approach him as he sat with his coffee and looked up, expecting it to be someone looking for counseling as he had posted that heâd be here. âAfternoon. Do you want to take a seat?â
Lenore had for the most part avoided the pain of New Years. She was with her family trying to stay safe and indoors. It didnât mean she didnât want them to see her past invade the peace they had created. She knew she had made an honorable decision all those years ago but it didnât mean the path to getting there made her a saint. It was something he just had to cope with and on the days where her descendant was in school it was far more amplified. She was often lost in thought and it lead her to not realize she had drawn someoneâs attention. â Oh, oh my God, I didnât even realize I was hovering. Sure, it doesnât seem like there are a lot of empty spots here todayâ

âThis is meant to be sword fighting?â he asks, incredulous, watching the two people fight out to the encouragement from the onlookers. Its a sanctioned fight, Faolan figures, or the police officers patrolling around would be leaping on everyone without pause. âHorrible weapons, they arenât blunted or sharpened. Did we pry them off someoneâs wall? I did better on my first weapons, and that was when we still used sharpened sticks.â His arms cross, eyes narrowed critically, talking mostly to himself, but also to the person standing nearest him. It wasnât his choice to come here, but he had lost Gabriel and Etienne several booths back, and the clinking of weapons had drawn his eyes. It was two vampires in the middle, each garbed in a separate color, and he wasnât entirely sure what they were promoting here. Not good weapons, nor good fighting. âI really hope this isnât supposed to be a promotion for sword fighting classes. Itâs sad.â
Lenore had seen her share of weapons growing up. She had grown up in a time where swords were still the only primary weapon in existence. She didnât like to judge, Far from it. She tried not to be that kind of person anymore, but she couldnât find a flaw in his argument. They were kind of awful. â Itâs possible they donât want anyone to get hurt. however that seems so silly considering the kind of town we live in. â She admitted acknowledging hi comments finally. â Okay they are kind of awful. I think the prospect of sword fighting has diminished over the years and now people have no idea what theyâre doingâThe vampire commented

âMum wasnât kidding when she said this place was quietâŚâ Ryo thought out loud as he walked through the heart of the small town; it was decidedly less busy than London ever could be. Finding the help he needed wasnât going to be as easy as he thought. As he once again became absorbed in thought about where to head next, a familiar smell came his way. The scent of death.Â
Looking up, his eyes narrowed at a raccoon laying unceremoniously on the pavement up ahead â roadkill. Rather than avoid it like some other passerby, he crouched down to examine the animal closer and was able to determine it was beyond preserving. âAh, a damn shameâŚâ Ryo muttered before getting back up. âRaccoons are quite cute little things, too. They just get a bad rap for being resourceful. Canât blame âem when weâre all just out here trying to live, right?â
âIf you ignore the occasional drama there is a Hallmark quiet town dreaminess to it allâ Lenore replied giving him a half smile. She wasnât the most social people, but she remembered faces and knew she had never talked to him before. Still, he vampire approached everyone like they were a potential friend. However the pungent scent caught her off guard as soon as he mentioned it.Â
â Thatâs so unfortunate. Poor thingâ She replied taking a step back. She had seen a lot but animals always seemed to affect her still. Despite it all her heart was still such a gentle thing. â People dislike them? Theyâre quite cute and the bandit face is my favoriteâ

It was going to be the first Christmas she had ever gotten to have with Eden. The first Christmas actively being a mother. Which meant, of course, that she had to be incredible. Nolyn kept telling her that she should worry less, but that was highly unlikely. Rod suggested something interactive.Â
That was how she had ended up with a used, beautiful Karaoke machine that she was fixing up. She had just been testing it out in her garage of the house she shared with Vik and Luke when she heard something outside and looked out the open door with a grin. She set down the microphone and jogged over. âGood afternoon, may I help you?â
Lenore had the day off due to the holidays coming off and as a result she was spending it walking from their place further into town with her several times great granddaughter. The little girl seemed to be on the move the minute she heard something in the distance. It wasnât normal to chase the young girl be she seemed fairly distracted and the vampire had to chase her as soon as she wandered into the yard of the source of the noise to knock on the door. She really needed to have a conversation with her about running towards strange noises. Lenore felt a little sheepish as soon as she saw the other woman. â I am so sorry. We were passing through but she heard the noise and was curious. âÂ
francisca-cavalcanteâ:
Francisca subtly let out a sigh of relief. The woman she bumped into assisted her with the items she stole, but not once did she question the integrity of whether it belonged to her or not. For once the lamia can catch a break and easily play it off. Humming in agreement, Frankie chuckled as she retrieved the supplies from her and tossed it back into her bag. âYou know how easy that would have been if there was one? Ugh, thereâs barely anything here.â She then faked a smile as soon as the other understood where she was coming from. Oh good, she has heart, Frankie can definitely feed off of that. âAbsolutely.â agreed the lamia. âAh, really? Iâm assuming youâre some sort of immortal?â She then did a double take on herself as she glanced down at her body. So far, no injuries spotted. Francisca even did a turn for good measure. âLooks like Iâm good to go.â
Lenore had no reason to doubt what the woman was doing with the supplies. In her opinion she just always assumed the best in others, because her youth had been spent hating a man who ended up being a close friend in the end. â Blame it on the small town vibe. Itâs cozy and comfy but it doesnât have everything we need here. I still have to go out of town for supplies for my classes. â Lenore explained before shrugging. â Didnât start out that way, but yes I am. â She added. Despite not having been a witch in a long time, she still felt a connection to who she was before. Especially since she was raising her many times great grand daughter. â Not bad. You donât have a long way to go do you?â
fcrcstâ:
âI, I dunno, I⌠Is anything broken?â he asked the person. The shelf was still on the floor but the bookcase was standing upright thanks to some helpers. Books were strewn all over the floor around them. âMaybe itâs a concussion, Iâm not a doctor. Whatââ he sniffed loudly, but couldnât tell which scent was hers and the people around her. He smelled werewolf and vampire the strongest, but that very well couldâve been his own scent for all he knew. âWhat are you, hon?â he asked. âWerewolf,â the woman replied, trying to stand up. âIt mustâve been shock?â he asked her, and she nodded, now on her knees, rubbing the back of her head. He helped the woman stand up, steadying her weight. âI know it was an accident,â he whispered. âPick something out for free. Iâll help you when youâre ready.â He turned to the woman who tried to help. âThank you for stepping up. Even if youâre not a fae. It makes you feel helpless yâknow? Like youâre not a, well, werewolf. I sincerely wish I could heal others rather than myself, that special touch yâknow?â He looked down at his hands and shrugged.
Lenore had been alive for a while. Sheâd seen a lot out there but it still made her stomach turn at seeing people hurt. Sure she was a vampire, but it didnât mean she liked ever seeing anyone hurt. She really had come such a long way from before she was turned. She watched off to the side, making sure he didnât need any other help. She was around kids and young adults a lot of the time so she had seen her share of injuries over the years that happened out of nowhere. â I get it. Sometimes you just need someone there to make sure the crowds donât get too crazy. We just gotta make sure they donât fall asleep and wait for actual medical assistance.â Lenore nodded before glancing back at him. â The way of healing that happens with me usually requires giving up what you were previously, so I try not to implement that one especially when not necessaryâÂ
francisca-cavalcanteâ:
location: outside a secluded area by lethe hospital time:Â 5:55am
Francisca knew that sheâd eventually have to rely on vendors and the establishments for her supplies. Of course that would all happen once sheâs settled and developed close knit relations. However, with such short notice, she was going to have to rely with what she had and that was wellâŚnothing. Money wasnât the issue, it was just accessibility and despite it being the crack of dawn, she needed the resources now. To say she lingered the halls of Lethe Hospital as a fake doctor was fact, but she might as well make her territory known to make things easier for emergency runs. Taking a couple of supplies, while fucking around with life forces here and there, she was all stocked up and filled with energy to take on the day.Â
âThat was until she bumped into someone in the middle of her departure, which made her drop everything, revealing all sorts of medical supplies that one shouldnât posses from outside the hospital. âAh fuck.â whined Francisca as she bent down to pick up the items and dumping it into her reusable bag. It was time to put her best face on as she faked an apologetic look to the other being. âMornings am I right? Ugh, our admin assistant at the nursing home fucked up our supplies order and so of course, I had to make an emergency run. Gotta preserve the non-immortal elderly yâknow?â Cue in the look of concern. âAre you alright though?âÂ
It wasnât a bad day out and that was usually all it took for Lenore to make the decision to go out for a morning run. It out of doing it for her health, but just that she liked to keep busy. Immortality meant there was always something to do if you made the effort and aside from raising the two kids that were part of her family line and teaching she had to find other ways to pass the time. This just happened to be the easiest. It also didnât hurt that Lethe was so easy on the eyes it made even the most mundane of task seem cozy. There was an ill feeling in the air after the parade but like with everything else in life Lenore knew it would all take time.Â
She took a break stopping in what she thought was a fairly quiet area outside the hospital to check her phone. One of the kids had messaged her asking where she was, and she felt it was probably a good idea to start heading back until someone had bumped into her. Lenore looked at the other woman surprised that it had happened, but not at all upset. Everyone had off days. She bent down to help her with her things not thinking anything of the supplies. âI guess we donât have a wholesale place in town. It is pretty small around here sometimes. â Lenore nodded as she stood to her feet. â Yeah everyone deserves care. â She added smiling. â I promise Iâm fine. It takes a lot to mess me up. I swear. Youâre okay though right?â

Location: TriBeCa Book Store
The last couple of days had been haywire with the reports of casualties, injured folks, and repercussions of the disaster that enriched the finale of the parade. Forest had been on the outskirts most of the time, had smelled the fire, but hadnât investigated it. Instead, heâd called up his friends to ensure their safety. Milo and Jack were okay, who were his coworkers at TriBeCaâJack took care of the music, Milo the book store, and Forest the cafe area.
They had yet to gain a big employee list, so it was rather hectic in the beginning with just a handful of people walking around on the floor. However, today it was still and quiet, so Forest was hanging out with Milo near the books. As his friend went to the bathroom to relieve himself, Forest took over the section and welcomed in a customer. âLet me know if I can help you with anythingâŚâ
Suddenly, a whole section of books fell on somebody and Forest ran to help them. As a werewolf, he could push the bookcase back to its standing position but that didnât help the bump on the otherâs head from growing from all the books and shelves that came tumbling onto the floor around them. Forest knelt in front of the person, moving his head to get every angle of their wound without touching it. âAre you alright?! Okay, dumb question. How can I help? Do we have a fae around here?â he called out, looking around the room. âOne day of peace since I came here, thatâs all I ask for,â he swore under his breath.
Lenore was not a Fae, she was however a witness to what was happening. She was taking a break after classes in the updated store before heading home and figuring out what the kids wanted to eat. This was not how she expected the break to go. The vampire stood up in a hurry as she ran over She couldnât help in the same way he had asked, but she was around injuries often, she could at least do something. âOh jeez how did this happen?â Lenore replied with wide surprised eyes. âIâm not a fae but is there anything I could do?â
rafinovaâ:
Rafi was delivering a manâs food when this woman asked him a question on his way back inside. Delicately, he leaned over her to peer down at the list. âYou should add The Jungle. Upton Sinclair, I believe? Bitch made me go vegetarian for almost a year. Worst year of my life, thinking of all those dead cows and germs and⌠ack. I hate that son of a bitch.â He didnât really, for it was an important story that showed the wrongs of capitalism at its core, of working its people to the bone and taking advantage of the less fortunate, specifically immigrants. Though in the book they were white, as a family of Puerto Ricans, he could sympathize. Still, that book made him shiver visibly.Â
It was rather slow today, so he gestured to the chair opposite the woman. âIâve been here about five years and havenât seen you about. âM Rafi, I run this joint. If you ever want to request recipes or dishes or anything, we have a jar for recommendations. Sorry, didnât mean to shit-talk food when youâre moments away from eating.â He noticed that her food hadnât been served yet. âWhatâre you waiting on? I can get it for you now.âÂ
Lenore was grateful so many people were open to give their suggestions. She wanted a list that wasnât just her opinions cause that never helped anyone to learn. She looked up at him, giving a half smile before writing his suggestion on a separate list, âThe Jungle. I completely forgot about that one. You ever completely forget something great just cause there are too many other things in your head?â She chuckled.Â
âOh Iâm completely new. I moved recentlyâ Lenore replied before holding out her hand to introduce herself appropriately. â Lenore Leclaire. Itâs why Iâm a little nervous about the classes. I donât know how the schools are done around here.âShe admitted before before waving a hand that it wasnât a problem. âNo itâs okay. I didnât think anything of it. I actually havenât ordered anything yetâ She added, considering her eating habits werenât particularly normal
hcleavciâ:
The Sweet Spot has become one of Haleâs favourite places. Hale didnât need to eat and she didnât get cravings for regular human food anymore, but that didnât mean she was unable to enjoy the taste. Besides, it helped her be reminded of a relatively normal time in her life when she went to bakeries with her mother as a way to get her out of the house. Finishing the last of her ginger snap cookie, a womanâs voice that was directed to her caught her attention. Hale looks over her shoulder, then turns her body and gets out of her own seat to take a look at the number of lists. âIf youâre worried itâs too advanced, then maybe your students shouldnât be in your class. Isnât the point to push students, anyway?â She asks, arching a brow in question, looking at the teacher quickly. âThat being said, thank fucking God Iâm not in your class.â Hale laughs a bit before her eyes are trained on the lists once again. At least, Hale doesnât think sheâs in this womanâs class. She canât remember which electives sheâs taken. Shit. âI like this list.â Hale declares, slipping it up to the top of the pile to show Lenore. âBetween how masculinity and femininity are portrayed in society, thereâs a lot of room to open up about discussions and debates, which is healthy. You can also weed out whoâs a misogynistic asshole. If you had The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, you should be good to go - Or, whatever.â Hale moves back a few steps, crossing her arms over her chest.Â
Lenore handled criticism well. She was open to any sort of debate about anything because she had a couple hundred years of experience to cope and improve. She was ready for anything, but she realized most of her comments she got were fairly positive. â Thatâs a fair point but I wouldnât want to single anyone out as not being able to keep up as a result. â She replied shrugging. â Itâs actually a pretty fun class thoughâ She joked before glancing back at the list. â Oh completely. There are a lot of male authors out there that are pretty problematic underneath it all. I was gonna do an entire module of female authors and their success in the gothic horror genre. Iâll always consider Plath thoughâ She smiled, giving her a thankful nod
holdenshephardâ:
âOh, absolutely. Are you a teacher?â Holden took the list and looked it over carefully, a small smile pulling at her lips. This was good, familiar, something that she knew well and had been good at. A pang of longing shot through her heart as she handed it back. âI think itâs great, but what grade do you teach? I think asking them for input will be wonderful. Not enough adults ask for the input of the kids they take care of, it will mean a lot to them I think.â
âYes, I am. I probably should have started off with that, because Iâm sure that sounded a little crazy without contextâ Lenore replied with a smile glancing towards the other woman. She looked at her list for a moment wondering if they were the right decisions. â Well right now, High school. Iâve been teaching a while, but I always go back to teenage years for some reason. When you get to college age it becomes almost battle at times. I thought so too. I want them to enjoy the class especially since no one wants to pick up physical copies of books and read themâ

Lenore was sitting outside the bakery as she went through several lists that she was trying to cut down. She was still relatively new in town and due to a past of leaving a bad impression she was trying to get off to a good start in Lethe. Even if the positive feedback she got came from her students. â Can you look at this real quick? Itâs the reading list for the year. Iâm worried itâs a little too advanced, but then again I could always give them the option to pick some books they want to read this year too? I might be nice to give them the chance to read something that is their decisionâ

His back leaned against the tree as he stared down at the notebook leaning against his thighs with a frown. The worst part of his job, he had decided a long time ago, was trying to figure out crafts. It was the after-school crafts that were hard, of course; preschoolers only needed paper and crayons and they were pretty happy. That might be understating it (in fact, he knew it was), but their crafts were still much simpler than the older kids required.Â
Emmett groaned and tilted his head back against the bark, his eyes catching on somebody nearby. âAny suggestions for crafts? For bigger kids. Under 12 or so, but older than 5. I am all out of ideas.â
Lenore had sort of have been lost in her thoughts. She had a list of thingâs that needed to be done before her own classes, but perhaps the distraction was what she needed, considering how she had a tendency to stress herself out if she was planning things for too long. â Iâm sorry what?â She asked as she turned around to see if she had heard right. â It depends really. What have you done so far?â Lenore asked. She was often around kids even if her students were older. She still was in charge of the lives of a few of her descendants.Â
