yeah yeah rainbow capitalism is bad and whatever but like. when I was a child, being pro gay was not the popular or lucrative choice. I'm happy that times have changed.

I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.

I saw a poll on here in passing recently about where people first learned about the concept of lesbians, and the possible responses were all like "knew one", "taught about them", "saw them on TV". girl I learned about lesbians because when I was four I got obsessed with a girl in my class and kept imagining elaborate arthurian scenarios where one or other of us was revealed to secretly be a (male) knight in disguise, but after a while I got so frustrated that I couldn't progress the situation beyond that fantasy that I went to my parents and asked "are girls allowed to marry girls" and they went well. not yet. sit down, kid.

Realistically I know “let’s all kill ourselves” is just as bad or maybe worse than “im going to kill myself” but in my head it’s like. ok but im establishing a sense of community and proposing a group activity? like are we really going to get mad about that

being a kid and hearing adults say stuff like "woah 2011 was 4 years ago haha" didn't really convey the fucking horror of a youtube video crossing my recommended labelled "9 years ago" and it's from 2017. that's not true. 9 years ago is 2010 or something. don't lie.
