Take my uquiz to find out which RWBY character you are :)
My result got an approving hum out of me.
But if given the choice, Pilot Boi and that one Atlas Airship captain in the part of v3 where Neo's making sport of the air fleet are pretty close to what I want to be.
I belong in the skies. Simple as that.
But Atlas's air fleet... it just looks and seems wrong to me. That is not how aircraft I know are, and my rejection of them is visceral.
It's like I'm staring at a raisin cookie, knowing full well that it's not the chocolate chip it vaguely appears to be. And I am left feeling that it's still just wrong.
This was a nice quiz!
Don't tell Happles what happened to its yacht.
Very normal Sunless Sea shenanigans, tbqh
Neat idea. What if crocea mors was revered as a legendary blade able to break any lesser weapons or armor with ease. But in reality it's just that it's made out of stuff like s7 tool steel and most weapons used by huntsmen are made of cheap low carbon steel since metallurgy isn't as advanced in remnant.
Most weapons are protected by the aura of the person using them, hence why they're considered extensions of the self.
Does having a +3 sword and shield help jaune keep up with his friends? (His armor is made of the standard low carbon steel)
So... I'm not an expert on metallurgy or things like that, so let me see if I have a firm grasp on the subject you're asking.
First and foremost, S7 Tool Steel is shock-resistant general-purpose air-hardening tool steel. The "shock-resistant" refers to its ability to absorb shock from impact, making it stronger and tougher than other steels. Its ability to resist softening at higher temperatures also means it can be used in hot work that does not exceed 1000dF/538dC. However, it should be noted that it's not as resistant as S5 steel, though it's place as S7 means it is great for general purpose use.
However, Low Carbon Steel, also known as "mild steel", is a type of steel with low carbon content, ranging between 0.05 to 0.3% carbon. This low carbon content makes it more malleable and ductile than most other steels. It's the most common produced steel on Earth and is also less prone to corrosion that other steels.
Based on this information, I think I can see how weapon production would work based on these two metals. Modern day weapons require constant upkeep, capable of acquiring upgrades, and shift around to accommodate different modes of combat. This way, weapons like Magnhild and Crescent Rose would be made of LCS for weapon modification. Older weapons, however, such as those in the Color War, would likely be made of S7 material for sturdier one-and-done tasking. This would make them hardier and require less upkeep, but also limits their ability to change shape beyond sword to different kind of sword.
So... Yeah.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Good bot.
Yang: Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee~!
Oscar: (Jellyfish!Faunus) Got it.
Ren: Empty your mind. Be like water; formless, shapeless.
Oscar: ...I don't think it's possible for me to be anymore like water or any less empty minded.
Inspo:
Because of this video, I can only imagine Ren proceeding to become a constantly-grinning lean-built funny dude when he passes forty.
After this much time, he's just done with people's things and spends less time on being patient.
Don't believe in styles. Styles separate man. There's a process of continual growth. You have to keep training. You have to keep your reflexes sharp - so when you want it, it's there. - Lie Ren, 93 AGW
Ridiculous feats I'd write if I got my hands on RWBY
Ruby: aim is so accurate, she can snipe down someone's weapons out of their hands from a whole kingdom of distance, using gravity rounds so the bullets than clear the distance.
Weiss: as long as she has enough Dust at hand, she can summon a whole army of Grimm, each one empowered by her own Glyph designs, like time dilation or steel from mixing earth and fire Dust.
Blake: dodging bullets and hits pint blank, leaving behind her a trail of Shadow clones until the enemy realizes they're surrounded and Blake goes full Raging Demon and unleashes a thousand shadows hitting her enemy from all angles.
Yang: diving headfirst into lava to fight a Grimm, then coming back perfectly unharmed, and glowing from how much heat she's irradiating. Enough to just melt the next Grimm in her reach.
Jeanne: Aura Amplification working as an area of effect and keeping her entire team running on, and on, and on for days. The Grimm may be endless, but she's immovable.
Nora: lifting a whole battleship above her head so it can better aim, then tossing it as a giant projectile.
Pyrrha: instead of becoming stronger with Polarity, she has such a finese with it, she can curve bullets, Dust rounds or her own weapons mid-air to always hit their targets. Targets she can find also using Polarity as if she was a living compass.
Ren: using Calm Emotions to its logical conclusion of handling the power of Nothingness, a state of being where Ren can fight 1.000 enemies by himself. And win.
Jaune: (At the vending machine) Maudite sois-tu! Que Dieu te damne et t'envoie en Enfer! Je ne te supporterai plus, et je ne te laisserai plus souffrir!
Blake: Is he... speaking broken Valian?
Yang: I guess? He's also apparently not taking any shit.
Blake: That's to be expected. He's Valian.
Pour la Royaume Vallée! Pour la Ville de Lumiere!
Valais. The language and the people are Valais. x) The spoken word is sometimes referred to as Old Valais, given that Vale speaks Vytalian instead of the language of its own origin.
I really liked the narrative setup I had in my head, that mimicked the Pope's address to the crowd in Latin, where the only one who was able to translate to English was the Pope's own reporter.
Vale (before the Fall, obviously) was a kingdom in decline if the ruined industrial and shipping sections of the city were anything to go by. "Vale's dying industrial heart" is a setting design concept I do not have it in me to refuse to play with.
So, someone seizing on grand cultural unrest in Vale for personal political gain would pretty easily net themselves a big base of support. You need to have this sort of thing ongoing, in a setting, if you want to be able to say the setting really has things going on in it.
And in the shadow of the valley, there was light in the darkness. In darkness there grew a kingdom, and from it grew the city of lights.

How Dark Souls is RWBY?
Using the Zero Punctuation metric~!
AKA, HowlingDay made some screenshot from ZP and really, REALLY wants to use them.
0/10 - Oh, precious cinnamon bun, too beautiful for this world, too pure
One character. Name ONE character in this series who looks ugly. Like, I'm giving you something easy and you're already failing!
Ruby Rose is a 14/15-year-old girl and she looks cute as a button~!
Weiss Schnee has a scar on her face, but compared to everyone else with scars, she got off pretty easy!
Blake Belladonna canonically has FOUR ears and she's still arguably one of the prettiest.
Yang Xiao Long, the brawling blonde kick boxer is a literal BOMBSHELL despite her amputation.
I know I'm sounding gross and shallow but that's only because the show isn't being gross and shallow! ...Well, they're not being gross, at least. The titular bitualars are the literal definition of "your scars are beautiful"!
----------
5/10 - It's not that deep
V3 Finale to V4 Finale was miserable gut punch after miserable gut punch, yet despite all the misery and gut punches, RWBY still finds time to crack a joke and show the good guys getting a win. Even if they repeat themselves later on, the show still holds on to one of its core messages about hope; even in our bleakest and darkest moments, we can still find the strength to continue on. And that's beautiful...
But compared to the Grimdarkness of other franchises that go so hard they make even WH40K blush, RWBY definitely comes up short. Hell, Mafia is more GrimDark than RWBY, and it's 2/3 a racing game! Except for III, which was a racist game.
----------
7/10 - Gains, bro. Gains.
Question: What is the difference between a Beowolf and a Cenitaur? One is an easy mob and the other is noted on the wiki as "being so skilled, it could keep up with Blake Belladonna".
Question: What is the difference between an Ursa and a Jabberwalker? One got killed by one huntsman (Jaune being .5 a huntsman and Pyrrha assisting with .5 makes 1 whole, fuck off) and the other became the crux of an ecological nightmare after Neopolitan got an upgrade and curb-stomped it so hard, even 20+ year veteran Jaune struggled to keep up.
Question: What is the difference between Roman Torchwick and Salem? One is the leader of a criminal underworld dedicated to spreading misery and chaos for their own selfish whims while the other isn't wearing a bowler hat. BUT Salem is also immortal and leads a literal army of literal monsters while Roman Torchwick became the first real casualty of the series by being eaten by them.
As the series goes on, the difficulty cranks up, albeit at a sort of leisurely pace... until V8 kicked in and cranked the nemesis system so high that you have to fucking squint to find a single win for the good guys. Seriously, at least Goku was able to destroy Cell and save the Earth, what the fuck do RWBY have that is actually, with no strings attached, going their way? I'll leave you all to fight in the comments on that one.
----------
Starting off immediately because I already know my audience and you're already champing at the bit to tear this faux "analysis" to pieces with my poor understanding of TWO source materials at once, we have our first metric, which I'm gonna spoil right now, is a fucking F-0, and not the Falcoln Punch Kind...
8/10 - There's two things I can't stand in this world; people who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch!
I hope you were listening when watching "The World of Remnant" because, like I said before, this is going to be on the test. And lo and behold, here is your test!
The world is certainly detailed, especially since it was made from a ketchup stain, and RWBY have been exploring... I wanna say 70% of it, and that's not even including the extra-dimensional shenanigannery found in V9 and the crossovers.
Patch Island, Vale City, Beacon, Forever Fall, Emerald Forest, Mountain Glenn, Xion, Oniyuri, Kuro Yuri, Haven, Kuo Kuana, Argus, Mantle, Atlas, Shade- and there's still enough room to explore and make up your own without anything feeling out of place!
You can also see the differences in cultures if you bother opening up the books and reading them, assuming CRWBY still have them available after RT shutdown and pulled them from the shelves, you fucks!
And overall, it's the differences that really serve as the key element in the final battle between RWBY and Salem (whenever that happens). Can humanity stand united under one banner despite being made up of racists, darwinists, gangsters, isolationists, and candy-ass diplomatics? I'll let you figure out who is who in that regard. Of course, you'd know all this if you studied for the fucking test!
----------
20/40 - You boys get an F... Minus!
F-Minus? Can he do that?
Is RWBY Dark Souls? On the contrary, I feel like RWBY stands as a stark contrast to the very concept of GrimDark.
Yes, the world is literally in pieces after a god-like tantrum from the biggest pissy-babies in the entire series, both size and emotion-wise, leaving a Remnant of their works to be squandered while they play new games with their new toys in new worlds, leaving humanity to clean up after them like a role-reversal abusive home.
However, despite everything, RWBY is still about one core message: HOPE, and it is that hope that keeps RWBY from falling into the same pitfalls as Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, and Hollow Knight, and even Blue Fire (Oho! Wasn't expecting THAT cameo, were you~?): the good guys still win, humanity will triumph over evil, and victory will be found in the simple soul.
There's no alien elder gods to swoop from the heavens to consume and devour reality. There's no continuation of a cycle of abuse disguised as something as natural, or the alternative of letting everyone be soaked in barbecue sauce and ringing a Pavlovian bell. And there will be no ambiguity as to whether or not a person and their friends can put an end to an ancient evil with little more than the power of teamwork and diplomacy... or, at least, I hope.

"The Future's Out To Get You"
Say hello to the main cast of COLORIS, a Cyberpunk genre project inspired by Devil May Cry, No More Heroes, Persona, Danganronpa and more!
Set in 2097, the story focuses on a college student named Axel, who wishes for a quiet life. Things become complicated when one day he narrowly escapes with his life after coming face to face with a serial killer thought to be an urban legend.
When Axel discovers his would-be killer unconscious and hanging off of his apartment balcony, he is soon drawn into events that will change him for better and worse...
Left to right: Hiro Cameron, Lucia Arvalho, Axel Winters, Rain Kira, Celene Ruedi
I hope you'll stick around to meet each of my FIFTY characters created for this project: from tall and (mostly) kind humanoid aliens and advanced cyborgs to sword-wielding shirtless androids and even twink pirates.
Each of the main heroes (Pictured) will be posted throughout next week, with information, quirks, reference art and backstories. Please give me a follow, like or repost if you enjoy what you see or if you want to help support an indie artist. Thank you.
Additional Note: The final product will be 2D, and all designs may be subject to tweaks, upgrades, downgrades, and such.
It will be just damn strange to see the final product when you're done. I keep on living and breathing thinking it was just yesterday you dropped the prototype music tracks.
Say my name like a warning Say my name like a curse
Ruby: Hey, Jaune, what's your sports team name?
Jaune: What's yours?
Ruby: We're still deciding, but we're thinking "RWBY & The Thorns of Victory". We'll wait until we hear yours first, though.
Jaune: Hm... That's really cool. Guys, what should be our team name?
Cinder: The Thorns of Victory.
Jaune: That's stealing.
Cinder: They never finalized it.
Jaune: ...Hey, Ruby! Our team name is gonna be "JNPR & The Thorns of Victory"!
Ruby: JAUNE, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!
RUBY ROSE & THE THORNS OF VICTORY
VS
JAUNE ARC & THE THORNS OF VICTORY
... you mentioned sports and I know for Remnant that means non-Aura trained civilians, but still;
I'm now imagining an AU where Cinder got teams RWBY and JNPR fawning over her to the point of squabbling over the pecking order of people in line for being the ones associated with her.
It's like an evil version of Gilded Rose. Knightfall and Lancaster and Burning Rose all at the same time...?
Emerald's overwhelmed. She may have once been Cinder's strongest (siiiiimp lol) soldier but two teams that can't hold themselves back from her is too much.
Also more accurately to their characters would be just the two teams poking funny at each other over (what seems like) a random foreign exchange student, while taking the excuse to keep sparring with each other some more.
... I've got it! The divergence point of this AU from canon must be that Magic Souls (and the maiden powers by extension) must be attractive on a subconscious level, to (modern) humanity!
We already know Jaune doesn't pay his taxes, but does Ren?
Does Ren pay taxes?
Yes
No
Unsure
I can't figure out why Huntsmen would pay taxes. More specifically, why taxes on Huntsman missions wouldn't be instead paid by the office/establishment/individual giving official missions to the Huntsmen, rather than the Huntsmen being paid to take missions.
It's a terrifying and insanely hazardous occupation; making it unappealing is the opposite of smart, and with govt and paperwork and HR is how something becomes unappealing.
Hell, I even reckon there is, straight up, a two-tier set of laws for Huntsmen and not-so. Jail isn't the sort of thing that it's smart to put a Huntsman into. A jury of normal people aren't going to be able to understand for which reason a Huntsman would choose one thing instead of another.
Depressingly, the only course of action that seems to make sense is for Huntsmen to police themselves.
Example at random: Carmine Esclados. Would she really be judged fairly by normal people, who have no idea just what could drive a lady to think anti-kingdom Royalists are a good thing to join?
Being a Huntsman means essentially forsaking a normal life, as far as I can tell. When you have the ability to contribute meaningfully to a police investigation seems to be around the point you don't get the same consideration a normal innocent civilian gets.
