i noticed obimaul isn’t in the “one killed the other” category in your sapphic au character sheet! does obi-wan not kill maul in this au? :0 (btw you’re doing god’s work)
Nope ! I really like Maul's canon death, but alas I love Obimaul so the bitch can stay around a bit longer :)
Didn't really refined the details, but the broad idea is Maul came to tatooine to kill Obi wan but couldn't bring herself to do it, and Obi wan could 't do it either.
Maul after losing everything and years of loneliness not being able to bring herself to kill Obi wan, the most important person in her life.
And Obi wan alone on tatooine, having lost everything and everyone she ever knew can't bring herself to refuse Maul's company. The jedis are dead, and Maul might be a dark side force user but not really a sith lord, why refuse the company of the only one left from her previous life.
Two sad touch starved old ladies living together in the desert <3 oh nooo Obi wan's shack only has one teeny tiny bed, guess we *have* to sleep on top of each other.... Wdym in the 15 years we lived together we could have bought another one >:( shut up
Very much "you are my greatest ennemy my hatred for you kept me alive long enough to realise you are literally the woman of my life" vs "the one night stand that killed my dad and I bisected 20 years ago came back to haunt me. I don't have it in me to keep you away and I've seen enough people I've known die so you can stay. Also if I have you under my roof that's one less potential threat to the skywalker shaped child living 30 minutes away, you did try to run little Anakin over with your shitty little bike once. Keep your loved ones close and your ennemy closer am I right- wait"
By the time the original trilogy rolls around, Maul passed away tho. Peacefully in her sleep, of an anevrism, falling down some stairs idc she just isn't around for Luke Skywalker and co bullshit
(hehehe thank you <3<3)
it's a well-known fact in the textile crafting community that "making objects from textiles" is an entirely separate hobby from "having a collection of materials to make things with."
crafters often refer to this collection as a "stash" or a "hoard."
it's normal to have, but sometimes comes with a certain awkwardness.
the problem is that it takes a very long time to make things from textiles - and it is extremely quick, fun and easy to get more materials.
Presents, impulse purchases, leftovers from other projects, things you bought FULLY intending to make something that you changed your mind about...
Another problem is that you genuinely DO have a plan for the materials! your intentions and desires are THERE!
and admitting that it isn't going to happen - or that your mind has changed, or you're no longer able to do them - can be really painful!
it's incredibly hard to say: "we are not the people who can do these things. we are not the people who WILL do these things."
but sometimes you need to.
it's a natural part of life. it might feel painful to let go of things that you really want to use, but won't. But clearing them out - and the attached guilt and shame - will make room for a lot more things in your life. Room for things you'll use. Room for the projects you'll do.
Room and space - not for hanging on to the shades of the ambitions and intentions and people you aren't - not being held for lives you don't have - but room and space for who you are today, and who you'll be tomorrow, and for the things you'll do.
Room and space to grow.

Tumblr Sexyman Contest 2026 Round 1 Part 6
Mayor Jerry (Hoppers)
V (V for Vendetta)
The great critic Barbara McClay has written about the "politics creep" in every corner of human life, though really of bourgeois Anglophone human life, where every act from reading a novel to lighting a scented candle can be justified - and in fact, self-consciously needs to be justified in advance - as a bold act of resistance. Pretending that self-care is a brave political act detracts from actual political acts, and it sucks the life out of life itself: turning every moment into a performance for an audience, for an imagined crowd of other people on social media. This is other people not as fellow complicated human beings, but as fearful object, whose inner lives are imaginable only insofar as they might be watching and comparing and judging us for whether we've done enough, whether we're wasting our time. And books and movies and TV shows and every other form of fiction will always be, to some extent, a waste of time, as having friends will be a waste of time, as being in love is a waste of time, as every possible action or thought you may have could be considered a waste of time if every second of your life has to prove its value, and has to get a job.

[guy who has never let anything go in his life voice] the most annoying part of the bill cipher gjinka phenomenon is that no one has ever actually captured what that character would look like as a human person fully devoid of supernatural qualities. white blond besuited bills are out of vogue now but people keep the same spirit alive by drawing him young and short and usually with some degree of hashtag genderfuckery because that's what They're into personally but if you look at his canonical characterization we're talking about someone 1. old as balls 2. who acted as a mentor for someone in his 30's 3. with the most pathological defensive measures against criticism known to man 4. and an annoying, disruptive sense of humor that mostly revolves around making people uncomfortable.
that isn't a fashionable transmasc in his 20's. that's a postgraduate professor who got his teaching license taken away for getting a little too into new age occultism and selling coke to students. come on now
go buy a lottery ticket because I'm never doing some shit like this again

I always know its getting toasty out in the world because girls start reblogging this post like crazy
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

in service of my favorite pastime, taking a joke feminist analysis of a joke post too far to be a joke anymore:
not only is the house hers too. but does SHE even really want the chintz? or is the chintz part of her duty as a wife, a design choice made for the approval of in-laws and houseguests, part of keeping the home as it's expected to be? is "he" actually having his Primal Masculinity restricted by his wife's Feminine Sensibilities, or is she an easy scapegoat now that he's consciously experiencing the effects of the restrictive society that she's been dealing with the whole time?
ooh interesting reply from @kitewithfish :
the fact that it's chintz specifically reinforces your reading! The fabric is associated with cheap british imitations of fine quality printed cottons made in India, like this woman's life and home have become cheap imitations of a promised intimacy - keeping up expectations but fundamentally missing the value of the authentic thing (and maybe cheapening the value of the authentic thing in the process?)
this makes a lot of sense with the contexts in which I've heard "chintz" used, literally and metaphorically. my cursory search (mostly this article, which kinda has my head spinning with all the historical context) tells me that the term also refers to the actual indian fabrics as well, but, via the versions that began to be produced in europe as an important element of the industrial revolution, came to be most associated with the cheap imitations.
[nodding] now let's add colonization analysis to the tumblr reply poem....even the "real thing," in this context, would have been acquired by violent exploitation. so, if we (probably belaboring the point, but y'know) continue the comparison, the intimacy that was promised still would have a cost if it were present. if we take the man's point of view, the type of authenticity he might have hoped for would still be built on an exploitative relationship—one that he (as the beneficiary) might not notice, but that would exist nonetheless.
Shout out to the (many) times I got called an elitist gatekeeper for saying that the only real way to fully understand a work of fiction is to experience it firsthand and that summaries and reviews are not a replacement for that
Me, reading the first 80% of the post: What do you mean, "experience it firsthand"? How am I supposed to join the Hunger Games or go the Odyssey?
Me, reading the final clause of the post: Oh, you literally meant that people have to read the book/listen to the audiobook in order to fully understand it. And people got mad. Oh dear.
And this doesn't mean you need to read / watch / listen to absolutely everything! (not that that's remotely possible)
It's perfectly reasonable that I have decided, based on ambient cultural information, that Ready Player One will not be my jam and I'm not going to read it. What that means, though, is that I have very little information about Ready Player One. I am not an authority on Ready Player One. If there's a discussion of the character development or worldbuilding or plot structure in Ready Player One, I can listen, but I can't really contribute, because I have not read it and thus am missing quite a lot of information about it.
There are more things in the world that I am not an authority on than there are things that I am an authority on, and that's okay! I should just be honest with myself and others about it.
