Erin leaving and Courtney immediately returns to directing videos isn’t surprising to me in hindsight. I don’t think they got along. Courtney went from directing a ton through 2020-2023 on the main channel mostly and then Ian and Anthony buy back the company and give Erin the director/producer job for their sketches and then Bit City. Courtney does Anthony’s funeral 6 months after Ian and Anthony bought the company. Directing not only the trailer but the live show as well which was a massive success. Then they don’t really direct anything past a few trailers after that? That just seems odd when Courtney talked about how much they love directing.
Wouldn’t be shocked to find out Courtney was a little pissed Erin, who didn’t really have any experience got more opportunities directing after that.
Courtney also rarely appeared on Bit City for a full time cast member. They had Tommy(?) directing sketches. I feel like if they did get along Courtney would have been doing those. It does seem like it was Courtney not liking Erin, mostly because Courtney immediately unfollowed Erin when she left Smosh and didn’t (I don’t think) leave a message on Erin’s goodbye Smosh post
I did find it weird that Erin didn’t at least try being a cast member seeing what she is doing on her YouTube channel now and Smosh recently expanding the cast but maybe she asked and Courtney wasn’t having it. Who knows.
All of this is just late night speculation on my part but a lot of the pieces to seem to fit together.
smosh is a work place after all and not everyone is going to be buddy, buddy all the time.
