i’m going to be really honest with you guys i think the tendency to read the absolute worst possible intentions into every action you don’t agree with is getting too automatic and it’s eating you from the inside out

i spent basically a year weaning myself of the thought process of imagining conflict. like pure imagination of arguments and conflicts with strangers over every possible day-to-day situation. it got my heart rate up, kept me up at night, and it was just such a natural thing for me that i had to consciously stop myself from doing it. i've never actually tended to read bad intentions on other people, and this wasn't really transferring into real life interactions, but at some point it might have, as conflict was what i was internally modelling. and also, it made me feel bad. my mind would just continuously and frequently lead me through these harrowing stressful scenarios, and when i realized it it still took some time and effort to catch myself doing it and force myself to think about something else.

Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Many authors of papers are on ResearchGate! You can ask for papers there, if they don’t just post a copy to download. If they’re associated with a college, you can usually find their email addresses in the department directory, also.

also, if you can't find it and the author is kinda dismissive or unavailable for sharing it with you it probably means the research was iffy at best or total bullshit at worse. try and find it in the references of other papers and see what reviews say about it (yes you should always try and find the original article/study/experiment, but if all you got is multiple reliable sources disproving its claims and pointing out errors in methods then they're probably right)
