honestly i think the reason why it’s so common for kids to have the “it’s not a phase, mom” argument in their adolescence is less because they genuinely plan for their current state of being to remain utterly unchanged forever and more because they’re tired of having their interests/self expression/beliefs/etc dismissed as foolish due to being probably temporary

i know that when i was that age i certainly wasn’t thinking about whether or not i’d be into whatever shit i was into then when i was 80, all i knew was that i was sick of feeling like the adults in my life were just rolling their eyes and waiting out everything that was important to me at that moment

Our town has an independent journalist and we are lucky to have him, but I wish he was a touch braver about criticism.

He stopped covering the No Kings protests because conservatives were calling him 'woke' just for posting that a thing happened (neutral.) When he interviewed conservatives about them and showed 'both sides' the conservatives still called bias. Again, for reporting that a thing happened (neutral.)

He does not report on pride because thats not what his readers want to see. He still goes. He takes photos. He does not report.

If I am busking while repping the queer advocacy group, he puts his camera down. Because im very rainbows.

He caters very closely to this neutral-conservative image, but for what even? The conservatives are still hounding him about his liberal bias for not covering their pet conspiracy theory of the moment.

He's free to do what he wants, but girl stop censoring yourself for these ungrateful bastages.
