During the slaughterhouse shutdown in a Victorian slaughterhouse in Australia, when 4 activists chained themselves inside the gas chamber of Diamond Valley Pork in Laverton where pigs are painfully gassed with carbon dioxide. As a result the slaughterhouse was shut down for hours, meanwhile about 50 activists outside the slaughterhouse continued the demonstration blocking the transport trucks and showing footage of the pigs being gassed in that slaughterhouse. Their reaction is clear. Here, the pigs are jabbed with electrically charged rods, even anally, to force them into the gas chambers. The pigs loose consciousness through agonising asphyxiation. When high levels of carbon dioxide reacts with moisture it forms carbonic acid. Immediately the pigs' eyes, nose, throat and lungs become acidic. They are literally burning to death from the inside out. A horrific way to die. The pigs that haven't been killed by the gas then have their throats slit. This is standard practice in Australia and a lot of other countries. In the UK, the pigs that end up on shelves at Lidl, the Co-op, Waitrose, Sainsbury's and ASDA are all stunned or killed by carbon dioxide gassing. By 2018, all of Tesco's stores will also be using this method. Morrisons electrocutes pigs before slitting their throats. No other word for it but torture. Don't pay for this.
