Im not sure how aware people outside the fandom by now, but the game Love and Deepspace recently announced a new character, only to cancel him entirely just a week later. Just because a small group of players were very loudly harassing the game company.
Right now, we're 8 days past the announcement of Valko being canceled, and just one and a half days away from when he was supposed to debut in the game. And Infold, the game company who also produces the Nikki franchise, has been dead quiet since.
Fans worldwide are boycotting and petitioning for Valko's return.
If you have any sort of online presence that interacts with gaming space, you might have seen him mentioned around, maybe commented on an otherwise unrelated livestream.
To me, this is a big deal, because the next few days are important to the future of not just Love and Deepspace, but also for games everywhere. If we as a community allow Infold to bend to the demands of hateful fans, it sends a message to all gamers; that if you complain loudly and aggressively enough, you will be heard and your demands met.
