planned parenthood offering laser hair removal which is a really necessary gender aligning procedure for many trans women!
it being introduced alongside botox and fillers and multiple of their clinics suddenly saying that they won't perform abortions on anyone above a certain BMI even though it's against their own internal standards
beyond the reinforcement of beauty standards and body fascism like, idk how many people realize Botox is a specific brand name, and that brand in question has donated over $135,000 USD to Republican politicians in the past year alone. yknow the people that regularly vote to defund planned parenthood.
and another thing but like this is also why all feminists need to be pro fat liberation cuz shit like this puts pregnant fat people's lives at risk, even when they do access abortions they are often referred out to a hospital with a longer wait and a steeper bill, and often denied pain management. these stories coming out from fat women lately tryna access care alongside PP now selling the beauty standard to women feels interconnected and predatory.
A small number (although they are aiming to expand access) of Planned parenthood locations are offering Botox and similar services, explicitly as a stopgap to cover a 100 million dollar shortfall caused by the federal government. (Link to WSJ article from March, 2026)
That article doesnât mention laser hair removal, although that does seem in line with what theyâre doing. They do talk about also offering laughing gas for IUD insertions/removals as part of this, and Iâll take any W we can get at this point. Them offering Botox is awful and a sign of how bad shit has gotten, but itâs better than them having to shut down completely.
I cannot find any source on Planned Parenthood denying abortions due to BMI. When I looked it up all I found was info about a woman being denied an abortion at a different clinic who was eventually able to get one at a Planned Parenthood. (Link to Planned Parenthood Action Fund press release, February 2026). OP did mention that the BMI-based denials were against their own internal standards, so me not finding a source there doesnât mean it isnât happening, just that I havenât been able to confirm it.
OPs broader point still stands, though! Planned Parenthood deciding to offer Botox is bad, and the fact that they were put in the position to make that decision is worse.
