Ok I love the marvel films and Loki is a great character but idk how you can justify calling him chaotic neutral. The fangirls/fanboys of tumblr have turned him into an imagined combo of Tom Hiddleston and what-the-fuck-ever theyāve poured into the fan fiction about him and somewhere along the way forgot that he killed a fuck-ton of people. He literally wanted to turn the inhabitants of earth into slaves. He ruined peoplesā lives I mean ik the first Avengers movie was a long time ago but seriously. ?
I love the assumption that I have no idea what Iām talking about here at toomanylokifeels, where Iāve been blogging about Loki for 5+ years.Ā
Thatās right, Iāve watched all the movies and most of the cartoons heās featured in. Iāve also read most of the comics heās featured in. Multiple times.Ā
Iāve read up on parts of the prose and poetic eddas, including the lokasenna to get a better understanding on inspiration for his characterā¦
ā¦but Iām just a fan obsessed with Tom Hiddleston with no grasp of the character who indulges on fanfiction that romanticizes Loki.Ā Ā
Listen, I can justify calling Loki chaotic neutral very easily. See below:
The thing about Loki that you have to understand is that he does follow his own whim, which lends to him being both a villain and ally to Asgard:

He is himself first and last. An individual, who wont be controlled by fate or by others.Ā
He values his freedom and resents any restrictions put on him. Heās literally made deals with Hela to cheat death itself because he values his own freedom. Even in the MCU, who knows all the unofficial ways in and out of Asgard? Loki. Because he values his freedom to roam where he wants to.Ā
Knowing Lokiās love of life without restriction, Odin has canonically imprisoned him in some of the most restrictive ways to drive him mad. Trapped in a tree. Tied to a rock, venom dripping above him. Locked in a dungeon for plunging Midgard into chaosā¦Ā
ā¦which, by the way, demonstrates his lack of concern re: the rights of others, and itās kind of funny that you would bring up the whole Avengers situation b/c Loki literally accuses Odin of doing the same thing. Of going to other lands and conquering their people to rule over themā¦
Lokiās actions were meant to mock and shame Odin.
He gets back from his time on Midgard and taunts Odin while in chains. He compares himself ruling Midgard to Odin ruling other realms. Loki, who has already accused Odin of being knee-deep in Jotun blood before taking him for who knows what reason.Ā
ā¦but somehow, Iām supposed to ignore literally everything that makes Loki a chaotic neutral character at his default because you think I donāt know he committed terrible acts on Midgard. You think I donāt know that.
Why yes, I completely forgot all that during Ragnarok when Loki defaulted to caring about himself, doing what he wanted, and living without restriction, even ignoring his duties asĀ ākingā to enjoy himself like he usually does, fitting the role of a chaotic neutral characterā¦
ā I forgot that your interpretation of that movie supersedes any canonical evidence that Loki might be chaotic neutral. I mean, itās not like chaotic neutral characters can kill people, amiright? They gotta be good and ideologically pure? Oh wait, wrong alignment.Ā
Loki is default chaotic neutral unless you want to get into the nitty gritty of his descent into villainy. He didnāt destroy Asgard because EVIL CHAOS in Ragnarok. He did it because it benefited his people and in turn benefited himself and his own freedomā¦ and because he fucking loves chaos.
Weāve literally had two Thor movies since Avengers where Loki is a trickster who orchestrates events to give himself the best outcome but Joss Whedonās 2012 Avengers is the end all be all to Lokiās characterization.Ā

Were his actions villainistic? Sure. That doesnāt mean he canāt be chaotic neutral. For fuckās sake, donāt treat me like an idiot just because Loki happens to be my favorite character. I know what the fuck Iām talking about.Ā

I love when shitty gatekeeper nerds try to be so specific about their requests that they reveal just how little they themselves know about what they claim to be fans of.
The fact that this guy arbitrarily used a 24 episode cutoff (presumably to cut out long form āmainstreamā stuff like naruto) tells me not only has he not seen very many anime but that heās only gotten into it recently. If you look back at older anime, and by older I mean, like 90s up to the mid 2000s, the standard half season/full season/long season runs for like your regular non-ongoing anime were 13, 26, and 52 episodes. 12/24/48 episode length only became common for more recent anime. By setting the cutoff at 24 and not 26 or even 52, heās cutting out a good chunk of the classics that any longtime hardcore fan would have on their list. Not to mention cutting out almost every show with more than one season. This guy probably hasnāt watched anything made before 2006.
Heās just like that one guy at Kroger several years back who tried to say I was a fake PC gamer because I didnāt play fuckin league of legends or call of duty, and dismissed me as a casual after he asked my favorites and I told him they were Baldurās Gate and Morrowind, because heād never heard of them so clearly I was full of it.
