Since there is not nearly enough baby Arafinweans, I present a newly minted big brother Ingoldo and baby Angaráto.

I've seen a lot of Finrod and Galadriel, and Finrod and Aegnor and Finrod and Turgon or Maedhros and Maglor or Fingon so its Angrod's turn. And baby elves are adorable. (In other news, I still can't draw clothes).

Have a very sketchy Nargothrond front hall, complete with waterfalls, a lot of stalactites, an underground river, stone trees and some very badly sketched guard statues.

I’ve actually been struggling a lot with the color version. His face shape and his nose and the lighting are slowly driving me insane.

Oh…and the armor, because I hyper fixate on details like elves not wearing full plate…would they wear chainmail as is suggested by Bilbo’s mithril coat? Would Finrod wear scale mail as it feels more Telerin?

Sketch for painting WIP…it’s a bit rough especially around fingers and folds in the fabric, mostly because I don’t feel like dealing with them in the sketch and the painting.

Apparently I’m big on the symbolism behind kings with broken swords.

That time I drew a Finrod-inspired shirt because I’m too poor to order $30+ t-shirts and too critical to like most of the Tolkien designs anyways...

Second piece in this series

For better or for worse I both loved and hated this scene. It was brutal and shocking and awful and I still don’t get why the film makers didn’t bring the story full circle back to NY and everything before it. Loki is the catalyst for so much that happens in the mcu so why not use that? And seriously he’s already died for Thor once…it would have been nice to see Thor living up to all his talk of brotherhood and actually being able to protect his brother for once.

Turns out I have really been missing out on all the perks of virtual charcoal. No smudged fingers or charcoal dust on my floor and the highlights are practically effortless.

I’ve been trying to add more emotion to my pieces and well besides being one of my favorite Marvel characters, Loki is such excellent material for character studies.

Loki is probably the most versatile of the characters in the MCU, selfless and selfish by turns with a bottomless capacity for both good and evil and the power, the charisma and the imagination to make and break worlds with it, whether an antihero, a villain or a hero. I’ve been meaning to draw him for awhile now and I’ve finally tried my hand at it.

I happen to like the longer, curlier hair from Dark World and playing with both his “skywalker” abilities as well as the vulnerability left from falling into the void.
