🐚i like to think that maglor first finds a certain familiarity and comfort in mairon's presence because he sees this ginger guy who's charming and reminds him of his gingers.
then he steps away from that idea, the further he gets to know him and realises that this complex being is capable of understanding certain situations and emotions that nobody else ever understood, so he separates this ginger from the others and now, he might even have a first friend whom he is not related to.
because mairon might just perfectly understand being in the shadow, being so devoted that you no longer have a self, sacrificing so much of your past and future, self and existence for a greater cause that turned out to be a disappointment and a tool of destruction to yourself and others.
and sometimes they both reminisce about the same tall ginger guy who they once both considered a pillar of stability for a short while.

Oooooh! Speaking of sports for the Eldar, I wonder what kind of holidays they have? Maybe something to celebrate the two lamps? I don't know if they'd even bother to keep track with how long their lives are. Also do you think Aredhel and Galadriel would get along?
this is alsooo something to consider!! I don’t have as much for holidays I don’t think, but I imagine the elves would have celebrations for their arrival into aman, and dates for each clan would probably vary. also something for begetting days, where for particularly the noldor, the births, and dates of birth, of the royal family would be honored, though most of the celebration would happen within the family
I can picture as well that the eldar have festivals for different events. @outofangband made a post talking about the teleri having yearly festivals for sea turtle hatchings, which is so so good.
and to parallel the holiday for the original arrival into aman, the eldar in the fourth age and so on also celebrate the return of the exiled elves, and the arrival of the elves born in middle earth. there could also be days of mourning/memorial, particularly for the events of the late years of the trees and the first age
and about aredhel and galadriel!! i do think that they did. it was probably natural for them considering that they were the only granddaughters of finwe lmfao. plus they were likely grouped/paired up together more often than not as such, and they were as well apparently born in the same year? so there’s that. they were at the kids’ table together etc etc
