While writing a fanfiction about Finarfin recently, I realized how truly despairing his situation was. When FĂŤanor swore his oath, Finarfin had tried to stop him, but ultimately, he failed. Later, his own brothers even went to his father-in-lawâs port, slaughtered people, and seized the ships. One could say that staying in Valinor did not make things any easier for him. Rather, it was the beginning of another kind of suffering. (By the way, since FĂŤanor's oath is incredibly long, I could only include a few lines. But letâs just assume he recited the whole thing.)

Not about the torture or the agony they went through, more like gossiping on how much of a peacock he was, strutting around and bragging about how beautiful he is.
If you came across them in the street youâd think theyâre talking about one of those overdressed Tirion nobles, but then you hear âI preferred his torture to his speeches because dear Eru those were a whole new level of pain-â
âHeard all of two before being mauled. Definitely preferred the werewolf.â
Celebrimbor sometimes joins these sessions but heâs got the additional years of having known Annatar and itâs therapeutic to talk about how self absorbed he was to people who really understand. Safe to say Maedhros and Finrod sombrely commiserate the kid on dealing with that for centuries.
