While writing a fanfiction about Finarfin recently, I realized how truly despairing his situation was. When FĂ«anor swore his oath, Finarfin had tried to stop him, but ultimately, he failed. Later, his own brothers even went to his father-in-lawâs port, slaughtered people, and seized the ships. One could say that staying in Valinor did not make things any easier for him. Rather, it was the beginning of another kind of suffering. (By the way, since FĂ«anor's oath is incredibly long, I could only include a few lines. But letâs just assume he recited the whole thing.)
