Cancer's in remission, official as of today. Still gonna be getting monthly checks (and spinal infusions, I responded really well to those) for a year bc the type of lymphoma I had has a very high recurrence rate - almost 70%. Haha. So, cautious optimism. Maybe one day I'll have hair again too, we'll see.
Well, the good news is that the lymphoma isn't back. And some of my hair is; I have a crew-cut looking thing going on.
However, after a series of events including a gnarly ear infection, a different cancer has been discovered in my ear.
A redaction and a correction:
What we thought was squamous cell carcinoma in my ear was not. Under further inspection, it turned out to be the lymphoma again.
We're taking a different approach to it this time - using a car-T treatment instead of the standard chemotherapy, which is supposed to eliminate the cancerous cells. I'm participating in a trial for a variation on this that is meant to be more effective; we will see how it goes. The paperwork describing everything scared the hell outta me bc they're required to list everything that can go wrong, and a lot can... but a lot can also go right. And even if it's not the miracle I hope for, it'll still be data to help others.
I came back from stage 4 lymphoma the first time. This one is not as advanced. My team and I have got this.
