#I know not everyone celebrates it and a lot of Tumblr is probably sick of how excited many of us get about it each year but#HALLOWEEN#part of the excitement is that my partner and I got a couple new decorations early that we'll be able to put up#but another part of it is that this might be our last Halloween in this house#the possibility we might move into a bigger house is exciting too#but the location we're looking at doesn't get much traffic on Beggar's Night#so this very well might be the last Halloween we spend in our current neighborhood#(we've gotten a lot of trick-or-treaters every year bc we live in a neighborhood right behind an elementary school)#so it's a sort of bittersweet excitement#BUT THAT'S ALL THE MORE REASON TO MAKE THIS YEAR A BLAST#plus the neighbors in the house on the opposite side of the street from us moved away#and they were the house that went all out with the biggest set-up every year#so while that's sad for everyone that gives me even more drive to make our set-up bigger this year#maybe it seems a little silly to be excited about#but I remember trick-or-treating and seeing some really incredible houses that made each experience special#and I want to do that for the neighborhood kids#I know a lot of my peers and people near my age who experienced Halloween in the 80s/90s/'00s say it's not the same anymore#and they're not wrong... but also if you want it to be memorable and amazing#the key is to really decorate and create a Halloween experience YOU would have loved as a kid#and then make sure that the trick-or-treaters you get you treat with kindness joy and a fun spirit#that's how I intend to spend Halloween and I'm excited to prep in advance this year
