everyone write more mech horror right now, I want to hear about how your pilot is surgically fused to the inside of the mech, with tubes moving blood from its body to the strange biomechanical heart of the machine as it twitches in pain - we need more fun stuff like that
S-OLD is a medically unrecognized disorder (MUD) characterized by a sudden obsessive love for a person. this obsession happens suddenly and this sudden obsession may or may not have an identifiable cause. In some cases the individual may suddenly develop an obsession for multiple people instead of one. This can be considered a subtype of OLD (obsessive love disorder) or its own separate, but very similar, disorder.
there are two subtypes: chronic sudden obsessive love disorder (S-OLD that doesn't go away) and acute sudden obsessive love disorder (S-OLD that eventually goes away). for CS-OLD one may develop other disorders over time due to it.
Symptoms include:
- intense preoccupation with an individual(s)
- intense and irrational jealousy
- anxiety
- low self-esteem
- rapidly developing romantic or sexual feelings for an individual(s)
- possessiveness and/or controlling behavior
the only required symptom of S-OLD is sudden romantic and/or sexual attraction to a person that is obsessive or intense.
1. always try to think of yourself as the best until it becomes the default; find ways and reasons to mentally belittle others, but don't overdo it or do.
regularly affirm your symptoms and your superiority.
make people dependent on your opinion.
be sensitive to criticism (fragile self-esteem); be jealous and competitive when encountering people who are better than you at your hobbies; use whatever opportunity you can to raise your ego while also knowing your limits so as not to be hit with an unwanted crash.
find any excuse to talk about yourself and lose interest when the conversation doesn't revolve around you. you can educate yourself on various things to get supply from being the smartest person in the room.
don't set high goals for the transition right away, divide it into milestones and reward yourself for each one you achieve.
remember: you're your own first priority. spend some time writing down your best qualities, what you like about yourself, etc. to read when you need supply and to help with narc crashes. or have others do it for you.
2. create your own inner hierarchy. here's a simplified version of mine: inferior (don't care about them unless they give me supply) -> neutral (anyone i'm tolerating though our relationship will be less important than with anyone up the rank) -> EP (equal person)/CHP (chosen person) -> superior, someone who's above me (can be either negative or positive).
it's a common thing among pwNPD, but is not limited to only one personality disorder.
3. learn about narc highs & narc crashes, and try creating situations that will help you fake it till you make it.
it's also worth mentioning narc supply n other things as they're definitely gonna play a role in your transition. what can be classified as a narc supply depends on a narc. usually it's attention, be it hate or love mail; achieving new highs and completing goals; praise for something one has done; even treating them as a divine being. you can either stick strictly to one person who will regularly provide you with it or seek supply from multiple people (your followers, for example).
4. one word: perfectionism. you must be perfect in everything you do. always look for ways to become a better version of yourself (however you define it).
5. "i'm never in the wrong; others are" sounds good but may not work every time and you have to know how to get out of unpleasant situations so as not to ruin your reputation.
6. research various NPD types.
7. browsing NPD-related tags on tumblr and other socials may be great for more specific tips. beware of ableists. apps like tiktok, insta, and sometimes youtube can be sources of negative supply.
8. educate others on NPD if you can.

1. "obviously, i can't be a narcissist; i'm better than them" and "i'm the worst and simultaneously the best person on the earth" - two interesting perspectives i assumed was universally shared up until i began to accept myself as a narcissist. so if you regularly had thoughts like this, then congratulations, you already have NPD /hj.
2. whenever someone i know becomes interested in smth i've been into for a while and claims to be its #1 fan or the first founder™, i get unironically angry and my first thought is always to ghost them or make a scene, but recently i came up with an alternative - i try to make it about me instead. saying stuff like, "oh you've finally gotten into it too? took you long enough" like subtly "praising" myself for this because if it wasn't for me, they probably wouldn't have discovered [insert thing].
so yeah, when this happens, i have mixed/contradictory feelings and am ready to jump to extremes, yet in the end i still acknowledge my influence on other person, which ofc automatically makes me better at that interest and gives me supply.
Peak tips btw, love all these, tysm for tagging me mootie!! I find it quite funny how many of them I already do, a little of an ego boost right, cause clearly I am doing well in my npd journey so far.

getting picked up and thrown into a wall might help, cowering in fear at the sound of their voice might help, freezing up in terror when they raise their hand might help!

No, I'm not going to hurt you for spending time with someone else. I'm just going to show them that if they want your attention then they're going to have to have mine too, and they might not like how I express it
