I'm at a convention for the game of Go with a friend who is almost 84 years old, and he is constantly being accosted by elementary schoolers who want to play him because every year there is a prize for whoever plays a game with the biggest age difference between players.

There were a lot of kids at this year's go congress (many of them extremely strong players) and it's very funny to watch them roving in packs looking for old people to challenge. At one point when my friends and I were sitting in one of the side rooms, a trio of elementary schoolers marched in and shouted "IS ANYONE HERE OVER FIFTY?"

I view reading fantasy/sci-fi stuff as "this work of fiction is being translated into english so that I can understand it, meaning some phrases should not be taken literally" lord of the rings style, and then I meet people who nitpick every word or phrase that "shouldn't exist in this story" and I'm like wow you guys are truly miserable and unimaginative. and also you tend to assume that english words all popped up in the 19th century and you never bother to check the etymology of the words you're claiming "shouldn't exist in this universe"

Imagine getting expelled from school for being an atheist and years later that school builds a monument to you but of your dead drowned corpse with your dick out.

My dad is Deaf and has been since before he met my mother. He had multiple different devices to monitor my sisters and I growing up- including a noise detector that would vibrate the bed or the couch and say exactly which room the loud noise was being made in. As a child I remember understanding that he could not "hear" me if we weren't looking at each other, and that I had to speak clearly in order for him to understand. He tells me as a toddler I used to ask him to get on my level, put my hands on his face, and ask him if he could understand me- and only once he verified would I say or ask anything. He used to leave me a signed note every day before school when I was in high school, giving me a different blessing and a couple bucks to buy a snack.

So a creche in ecology is a group of animals that take care of their offspring as a group. Grouping together like this can help with protection against predators, finding food, enduring the weather, and gives the parents time to "rest", as sometimes the parents will alternate who's being the primary watchers while others get to hunt by themselves for a bit, like a baby animal daycare.
