July 28 - Follow up to this post. Stickers / Nikki, a trans teen and organizer, has been released by the NYPD. This is another view of her abduction by the police. Sheâs skateboarding by the white van in the bottom when they grab her. This is abduction. Video link.
NYPD abducted her because she allegedly damaged cop cameras at the city hall occupation literally over a month ago. this means that NYPD has been keeping track of visible activists and people at the occupation and at the protests in general, and are now identifying them and taking them on the street without even asking for formal identification. be careful, cover your face, dont let your identity be connected to any actions you take. btw this is her gofundme
And if we can teach a guy like Jeff to do it weâll never be unloved so⌠we keep running the same scenario over and over and over hoping for a different result.

licherally nobody is doing it like him
if i may:
friendly reminder that u can be like âlin manuel miranda created a work of art that was meant to highlight performers of color and made broadway mainstream again and was full of amazing themes and motifsâ and still be like âbut hamilton is inherently problematic because it glorifies the founding fathers when they should not be treated as people to look up toâ like u can and should do that

We have romanticized the idea of romance, and it is cancerous. And when you raise children in that world, where everything points towards love, and everything is perfect on the outside, when we become an adult for the first time in our late teens and our early 20s, weâre so terrified. Weâre so trying to be an adult, that some of us will take the wrong person, the wrong jigsaw piece, and just fucking jam them into our jigsaws anyway, denying that they clearly donât fit.
Iâm gonna fucking force this fucking person into our lives, because weâd much rather have something than nothing. People are more in love with the idea of love than the person they are with. 55% of marriages end in divorce. 90%. Nine Zero. Percent of relationships that started before they are 30 end. If those were the stats for surgery, none of us would fucking risk it. But because itâs love and weâre stupid, we just lie on the operating table like, âMaybe this time I wonât die inside.â
Thereâs nothing wrong with being alone. Thereâs nothing wrong with taking time for yourself to work out who you are, because how can you offer who you are if you donât know who you are?

ICE has been ordered to release children but they're the ones who get to decide if they release their parents as well or if they're just throwing these kids out, so please at the very least sign this petition
PS. this isn't a change.org petition either, so it is worth signing!

in case you didnât know, The Dixie Chicks, an extremely successful country singer trio in America, recently changed their name to The Chicks, as âDixieâ is apparently a nostalgic name for the Civil War-era South.
They have also released a new song and video, which is what I really wanted to bring up - I would never have known about it, because I am in no way involved or subscribed to country music, but my mum learned about it and passed it on to me and Iâm so glad she did - itâs called âMarch Marchâ and is absolutely worth listening to but 100% MORE worth watching. It REALLY doesnât matter what music genres you love or hate I really think you, like me, if you believe in activism and progressive change, will at least feel a little moved by this music video. Itâs very well done and quite powerfully edited. Hereâs the youtube link.
awesome other stuff to know about them, thank you @littleredrunsâ and @dancingatbraebentâ
No, seriously, you need to watch this.
Give it a watch.
This isnât what most of us think of country these days- the nationalist pop songs where the twang supposedly makes it country. This is some proper old school Johnny Cash sort of music and itâs got something to say.
in 2019, Ken Burns and PBS just did a really fascinating retrospective on Country Music. And one of the things that resonated with me was that if you were interested in the folk tradition, or female singer-songwriters in the 90â˛s, chances are you listened to country. Because thatâs where the women who were forced out by the pop machine ended up. Â
9/11 changed that in one fell swoop. Almost overnight, I went from listening to, and buying, a LOT of country music, to feeling alienated and frightened by it. The aggressive, jingoistic, and very, very masculine wave of post 9/11 country music swept away a lot of excellent artists, and left us with the âbro countryâ that weâre still dealing with today.
BRB, off to dust off a few cds.

i fucking hate to make an ace discourse post in 20 fucking 20 but it really needs to be said and i KNOW this is gonna come off as a smarmy âi told you so postâ
but iâve been on twitter recently and there is a fucking DELUGE of people promoting the idea of âbisexual lesbiansâ (never bisexual gay men but like⌠thatâs a tangential dialogue for another time). this idea that you can be bisexual and a lesbian at the same time is a direct product of the split attraction model.
this is the EXACT shit i was talking about when I said rhetoric from ace community is not compatible, at all, with the LGBT community.
sexualizing the -sexual suffix so âbisexualâ SOLELY means âSEXUALLY attracted to the opposite genderâ so someone can be bisexual and âhomoromanticâ is ACTIVELY harmful to lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals. it sexualizes bisexuals without consent and COMPLETELY redefines what gayness is so it can include attraction to the âoppositeâ gender.
and this is just one example of how ace inclusionânot just the inclusion of cisgender, straight aces but also the prioritization of ace idealsâhurts the LGBT community. the rhetoric that you can have sex with people you arenât attracted to to âmake it workâ romantically is conversion therapy rhetoric. Ace inclusion makes it seem like the LGBT community is about our relationships to sex when that just isnât true. Ace inclusion means âdesexualizingâ LGBT spaces so as not to upset asexuals. All this shit AND MORE is happening in real time and Iâve watched it get worse and worse, hand in hand with the commercialization of LGBT pride and the liberalization of LGBT activism.
ace rhetoric is eroding LGBT identities. the idea of the âbisexual lesbianâ and other mogai microidentities where you parse every single aspect of your identity into a different label is actively harming vulnerable LGBT people.
and, no, this isnât me saying âeven LGBT aces have to go,â but this is me saying that putting ace identities at the forefront of ANY LGBT discussions leaves a lot of space for harm for LGBT people. and that any fucking ace rhetoric besides âitâs okay to not feel sexual attraction or want to have sexâ comes at the expense of LGBT identity.
genuinely, the concept of âbisexual lesbianâ is a direct product of the ace community and it has caused lesbians and bisexual women irreparable harm. and aces should be ashamed of this because this is what they have been defending for years.
this is the EXACT shit we said would come out of the split attraction model and now we have TEENAGERS telling strangers and adults âiâm sexually attracted to [x genders] but only romantically into [y]â and yâall think this is okay. even if it werenât fucking INSANE to say lesbians can be attracted to men or that bisexuals can be half gay or half straight, youâd STILL be out of fuckng line having KIDS center identities around SOLELY sexual attraction.
iâm ripshit pissed
i am saying this with everything i haveâthere is NOTHING positive to come out of the ace community that couldnât have been identically accomplished by simply saying âyou donât ever have to want sex, you donât owe anyone sex, itâs okay to not sexually desire anyoneâ which is shit feminism has already been doing.
