so today at work one of my coworkers hands me a box
I have no context for this. He’s a 50? 60? Year old plumber who tends to walk into the office, tell a dad joke, and leave. I’ve just arrived at work and am still putting my purse away. So he hands me this box and says it comes with instructions. I open it and unfold this
He says his great grandma probably made it
This pansy is the tiniest pocket in the world
It could use some blocking after who knows how many years in the box but look at these sweet little pansies!
The pattern was clearly typed on a typewriter, several pages of it. I guess this was an apron specifically for having your friends over for tea.
I just happened to be wearing a skirt that kind of goes with it, so I did wear it all day (it’s a @mayakern skirt!) and another friend said I look like I should be living in a shoe. Perhaps as some sort of mouse girl making pastries for the other woodland creatures. But uhhhhh what an incredible heirloom piece to just be handed. It’s probably twice as old as I am. I’m definitely going to bring it to stitch circle this week
Okay y’all have really gone crazy for this lmao I have never received this many notes on a post
I’ve been trying to find where this pattern came from so I can upload it to the database on ravelry since I don’t want to make a new account anywhere to upload a pdf or whatever. I hate making new accounts. But ravelry very much doesn’t allow unknown authors for patterns so I’ve spent the past week hoping someone would know where the pattern came from while I was camping beyond cell service or just. At work doing work things. Alas nobody has found it yet so I’m going to do the much less convenient thing for everyone who isn’t me and just paste it under the cut
please let me know if you make this! It’s very beautiful and I absolutely bought some thread to make the pansies at least, but I haven’t had time to do that yet so I have no shiny new photos for you haha
enjoy the pattern! I left in a couple of the typos from the original transcriber, but nothing that takes away from readability.
Pansies for Remembrance

"On a personal level, I just can't wait to find peace, and what peace looks like in this new life. I'm excited to craft, and I'm excited to write poems, and hang out with my friends, and watch movies - there's so many movies I can't wait to watch! Books! Literally things that are like, soul fueling. Just fill you up. I'm excited to fill my cup with calm, joyous things."
Continuing my little game 'stick stone circles in unexpected places', resin, wood and stone acorn with a portal. I think a galvanized oak leaf and a couple of rustic beads would be good for a necklace.
I met Chu So-so when I was 17. I still remember when I first saw her. It was during a sun shower on campus. I asked her why she didn't carry an umbrella, and she said that she hadn't listened to the weather report. I was struck by her vivaciousness and openness. It felt intimate, and made me want to look at her again. But she had already disappeared, like the sun shower.
