Wee drabble inspired by this prompt from @the-mini-muse 😊
“I’m not dating anyone and certainly not Penelope Featherington! Not in your wildest dreams!” When Griffindor Quiddith Chaser Colin Bridgert
Ravenclaw fourth year, Eloise Bridgerton slammed past Colin with an indignant and red cheeked Penelope Featherington trailing behind her. With an inelegant twist, and courage she never thought she possessed, Penelope turned to face Colin Bridgerton. Bright eyed and foot firmly planted on the floor, she began to speak, “I never asked you to date me, Bridgerton.” Each word emphasized with a jab against his shoulder.
“I- Pen! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean-,” Colin stammered trying to form a cheap reply, deeply ashamed that she heard him and mentally berating himself for acting like someone he wasn’t proud of, albeit unintentional.
“I know what you meant,” Penelope snapped at him eyes blazing but tone calm, effectively shutting him up. “You need not hurt yourself trying to explain to me what you meant. I have a very firm grasp of the english language too, thanks.” With that, she turned away and started walking towards the opposite direction, no destination in mind, she just wanted to get away. After passing Eloise, she took and lead Eloise by the arm as well.
Her face might still be red, ego still bruised, heart even more so. People might still be staring at her. Colin’s friends might still be laughing… but at least she spoke her mind and hadn’t let Colin Bridgerton get away with being an asshole.
“She won’t want to date you anyway!” Shouted Eloise back at her idiot brother and flipping him the bird for good measure, all while allowing herself to be dragged by Penelope away from the carnage.
Colin all but mumbled in confusion after hearing what his sister had just said with a very unsettling realization creeping in, “No… Wait! What do you mean she won’t? Why not?”
It was at that moment the moving staircase decided to move and change directions before he could run after the two women, as if conspiring against him.
