Sorry my posts haven't been as frequent or funny as usual. It's because I'm eating well, sleeping regularly, and exercising

These are $30 for one but stitches at the hospital are more expensive so this is pretty damn great
So what you’re saying is that someone in the free market has responded to high costs by developing a new product that is far less expensive, and can be applied by the injured person themselves not just a doctor or nurse.
This is neat AF
Its an advanced butterfly bandaid.
@keyhollow
This isn’t ‘Neat’ this is horrifying. America is in shambles.
‘Oh drat! I’ve been stabbed and I can’t afford to go to hospital. Good thing I’ve brought my emergency DIY stitches.’
America… your health care system is fucked up. You know that, right?
Yes we know thank you
never gonna get over the cycle of
product invented -> problem with capitalist hellscape mildly circumvented -> americans celebrate because its incredibly good that this product exists -> non-americans telling us we’re dumbasses for? being happy theres a tiny little workaround for our shitty system? acting like we’re stupid for looking forward to a product that fixes an 800 dollar problem for a fraction of the cost?
extremely cool and sexy of you all to uhh *spins wheel* mock the citizens of a dystopian nightmare for *throws dart* being excited about the prospect of having one less thing to suffer for.
Okay like I know y'all are like “fuck capitalism” and I’m right there with ya, but this is amazing for emergency aid in extreme environments as well.
crucial also that this method does not involve making additional punctures in the epidermis which is just one more way for bacteria to get in. and on that subject, the wound can be washed and disinfected and monitored for any infection very easily this way because the tissue is simply being pushed together instead of bound together. if you notice inflammation, there’s nothing stopping you from popping this zip-tie bandage off, thoroughly cleaning the wound, and slapping a brand new one on. try doing that with stitches, buddy. this is a huge improvement over prior technology and that’s all without even mentioning how much it could help someone who is bleeding from a head wound and lives just a bit too far from a hospital. or what if you’re in a car accident and the pileup makes it hard for an ambulance to get to your location? you can buy yourself a little time this way. this would be an incredible invention with or without single payer healthcare
Are you into tarot? I like tarot enough that I will get a reading if there is a cool tarot card reader at a party, and I think I have a couple tarot decks i have received as gifts, but I have never really gotten into using them on myself but MAYBE THIS CUTE TAROT CARD TABLE ONLINE HAS CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR TAROT AND ME??!!! Wow do i love tarot cards now??? I think i do! I am really enjoying this little tarot platform called Moonlight that launched recently. The lady who started it has run some neat online community projects in the past so I have been rooting for them from afar, and it's so good.
Anyway If you click on "Try a Free Tarot Room" start a room, it has a little built in card deck with all the spreads and a guide thingy and you can just do a reading for yourself! or invite one of your friends on and hang out and do readings with each other for free! or book with a professional tarot card reader if you want a whole experience! Get Tarot Lessons even! Looks like they will be expanding to be selling more artist decks in the future too. We love a virtual goods art marketplace!
Anyway, the UI is delightful, intuitive and really helpful for just getting in there and reflecting with the cards. I just gave myself a few readings like I know what I am doing and I honestly feel better than I did before i started playing with the cards. How refreshing! Check them out at Moonlight.world it's free and cute.
I do have to say, this moonlight thing is pretty cool!
i love that the chapter/episode that always hooks people on Dungeon Meshi is the living armor chapter. the reveal that they're actually mollusk colonies acting as a unit really opens up the reader/watcher's mind to how cool theorizing dungeon biology can be, it rocks
its like reeling in a fish. you lure them in with a cute walking mushroom and a mandrake and they're like oh this is cute but the second laios starts getting autistic about shellfish armor its like GOTCHA BITCH you're stuck on ryoko kui's wild ride now
It’s not difficult to come up with examples of literary wizard-school dramas which pre-date Harry Potter – Jill Murphy’s The Worst Witch (1974), Ursula K Le Guin’s A Wizard of Earthsea (1968), etc. – but if you really want to cause problems on purpose the next time the topic comes up, here’s what you do. Look them straight in the eye and say:
“The X-Men.”
David I’m going to need more data
There are several dimensions to the problem.
First, does The X-Men take place in a boarding school milieu? It feels like a simple yes/no question, but it doesn’t have a straightforward answer; in a lot of X-Men media, the school premise is background for conventional superhero-team shenanigans, and even when the focus is on the school, the plots tends to concern the personal lives of the faculty and staff more than the academic careers of the students. However, there’s at least some X-Men media where you can make a strong case that the boarding school milieu is a central device.
Secondly, are the X-Men, in any sense, wizards? The word “wizard” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, and most of the obvious objections turn up a lot of weird edge cases; e.g., “they’re not wizards because their powers have a science-fictional justification” (so do those of many characters who are explicitly identified as wizards, particularly in older media where the lines between fantasy and sci-fi aren’t quite so bright) or “they’re not wizards because they’re born that way” (being a wizard is often depicted as being at least partly hereditary, sometimes to the extent that “wizard” is effectively a distinct species).
Thirdly and most critically, however, we have to ask: does X-Men media participate in the wizard-school drama as a genre? Remember, genres aren’t just checklists of tropes – they’re authors in dialogue, borrowing from and responding to and criticising each other. To what meaningful extent does X-Men media engage with that dialogue? This is the really fun part, because we have to drill down to the level of what individual storylines are doing to answer it; some X-Men stories clearly wouldn’t know fantasy literature from a hole in the ground, while others have richer creative influences.
Basically, “in terms of literary genre, is The X-Men a wizard-school drama?” is the literary equivalent of asking “is X a sandwich?”. There’s no obviously correct answer, there’s loads of abstruse cultural context muddying the waters, and the question invokes the particular class of demarcation issues in which nerds are primed to develop strong emotional investment – in other words, it’s the perfect sort of question if your actual goal is to start a big stupid argument.
#the answer to ‘are the x-men a sandwich’ depends on what sort of fanfic you’re reading
If I was Orpheus I wouldn't have looked back at Eurydice. I would have looked down at the ground to maximize the framerate, and then repeatedly run into Cerberus' second head to perform the Cerberus Skip and warp up to the entrance of Hades. I've done this five times and last time I did manage to shave three and a half seconds off my personal best thanks to favorable Cerberus cycle RNG. I honestly don't get why that dweeb Orpheus could not do this, or even a simple Sisyphus Glide
