Male doll collectors are mad at me on my doll instagram bc I pointed out how female collectors get little to no attention (flown out to PR events, publications being written, etc) to the same degree that their male counterparts do—and got attacked by several gay male doll collectors who simply saw what I said and picked out what they wanted to hear. “Men not allowed in women spaces” not what I said. “So men can’t market dolls?” Not what I fucking said. I see the reading comprehension amongst my peers is suffering, regardless, multiple of my male doll collectors friends reached out to me, AGREEING with my original point, and expressing how they wanted to see a change.
And this is my point: anyone who is straight, or white, a man, or cis, the SECOND they perceive even a whiff of someone hinting at the fact they force themselves into every space and end up dominating it, they freak out. We just saw this with lesbians on here asking for their own spaces, rightfully so. And I’m not even saying dolls are only for women, I’m saying it was originally aimed at women and girls, it was a space for girls. Boys loved them too, so we welcomed them with open arms. Now, the male counterparts in the community get more highlight, success, etc than the original people who welcomed them into the space in the first place.
But no, people who are used to being accepted everywhere, or even the ones who hit some categories (I.e: being male but being gay) are accustomed to exclusion, but because they have now found a place that welcomes them, any hint at not being accepted scares them into a reactive state, instead of just having a fucking conversation.
My original comment^^ yes it’s harsh. But in no way am I fucking say men aren’t allowed? Where did I say that? This is so frustrating. We can’t even speak up on the trends we see (mind you, men in the community have AGREED WITH ME) without being fucking insulted, baited and yelled at.
Then my mutual says THIS?! That’s what you got from my comment? You cannot fucking read!

it is so crazy that we all liked overwatch
its like the dancing plague that happened in alsace in 1518. throngs of people danced uncontrollably for weeks on end and after it was over everyone was like “well that was stupid. why did we even do that”
daddy long dick is very scared right now

>Predominately Black led piece of media becomes popular.
>Among the characters there are one or two White characters with minor and/or distinctly antagonistic roles.
>White tumblr users focus entirely on said White characters.
>Tag of Black led piece of media is filled with posts about White character(s)
>Rinse. Repeat.
I think the most charitable interpretation of this is that people connect to characters that are like them, and that the experiences of Blackness is so alien to them that the White characters are the only ones that White people connect with. Combine that with the fact that Tumblr is so White as a platform, and you get this issue.
It’s still bad and racist, but it is understandable. People should still do better though. (I’m not trying to justify, I’m trying to come up with an explanation)
Please don’t make me say it.
We don't need you coming up with an charitable interpretation.
Prev tags too good to leave in the tags
Or maybe the reason people like the queer character over the two related het characters is because of the queerness.
If Smoke and Stack weren't related and Mary and Annie were in a relationship then things would be so much different.
But there are so little black queer fantasy movies or shows that no one blinks an eye.
Where are the black gay vampire hunters? The enemies to lover black lesbian werewolf story?
Sinners 's problem isn't a racism one. It is a queer one.
This is such a bad addition. You don't get to call a movie bad, "having a problem", or "generic het slop" because it wasn't about what you wanted it to be about. That's not how creation works. "Generic het slop" please go be racist on someone else's posts 😭 And Remmick isn't queer. He's just a white man doing what white men- especially straight white men- have historically done.
if i was in an alien movie i'd be luring the xenomorph into a hot wok and adding chili, garlic, ginger, shaoxin wine, scallions, white pepper and sesame oil
