so i was just rewatching the zadash job and i noticed that the very last we see of essek is that one shot of him looking like a waifish victorian child as trent knocks off his helmet and he's unconscious and restrained. And i've been kinda wondering what essek's plot is gonna be in s2 since it's not gonna be with the nein. so i think my new prediction is he's gonna spend most of the season trying to escape whatever personal jail trent has him in and maybe the season ends with him linking up the nein in some way, kinda like yasha at the end of this season? but also who knows, i should probably wait for a trailer before i start making these kinds of predictions so i could be way off lol

If you want to write in the classic high fantasy mould, you don't have to be hung up on food specifically, but there must be some very mundane thing you're prepared to cultivate a sincere interest in and describe in excruciating detail every single time it comes up. Clothing. Furniture. Architecture. It doesn't work without it.

(The trick is, it needs to be something you can touch or hold. If you're infodumping about trade routes, you've crossed the line into the venerable "worldbuilding bible with a fantasy story stapled to the side of it" genre, which often overlaps with classic high fantasy but is not identical with it!)
