many women are excited to get old and weird, but i have great news that it's fully possible to become weird now, before you get old. just imagine the heights of weirdness you will be able to reach in fifty years if you get started now. that's what I think
not all your fave blorbos can be masochists some of those fuckers gotta enjoy beating the shit out of someone during sex
😟😳😳😳
#idk what this means or if i do this but ig i'll just hold my phone with my pinky stuck out from now on??
Good question, also no that won’t help.
shitty MS Paint 3 minutes doodle, nto entirely accurate: When you have your pinky hooked on the “bottom” edge of the phone for the extra security so it doesn’t slide out of your hand that easily, you’re wreaking damage on your hand, since the pinky is extremely askew from it’s resting position. You might have noticed that when you hold your phone like that for long time it begins to hurt, like when you are gripping a pen too tightly for example.
Green lines - the fingers are going their natural way. Red line - the pinky is way off, that’s bad.
Me: Oh, good thing I never-
Me, looking down at hand: By talos this can't be happening
oh thats why my hadns have started to always be in pain ok

God our neighbors have been gone almost a month and it feels so insanely weird and is ABSOLUTELY DIVINE
they had two dogs ill-suited to a suburban house and garden, and from the moment the humans left for work. After the moved, we did the math. the dogs barked for for multiple years, and we figured out they were barking anywhere between 8 and 11 hours in a day.
They barked at the top of their lungs ALL DAY. EVERY DAY. they barked at every siren (we live within earshot of an arterial route), any noise and every noise triggered them. We were having worsened panic attacks, meltdowns much worsened ptsd. We would check on them, try and comfrot them, but. We couldn't do anything much to help them ourselves.
Well their family moved out to a rural area to raise their kids and dogs somewhere quieter, they took them with, and its so odd and quiet again! We can hear beautiful birdsong every day, so pretty and so loud! We were having worsened mental health issues, and its been a month but im just now managing eith how fucked up and wild that was
I read etiquette and homemaking guides from the 1800s mostly because they're a FASCINATING insight into cultural norms that we often don't think about. I honestly really recommend people crack one of these open at least once--it goes way beyond, like, "what to wear to a ball!!!"
The best ones have advice on decor, how to select high-quality furniture, childrearing, fashion, etc--from a contemporary perspective, and the things the authors feel the need to clarify vs the wild shit that will just casually mention like it's something everyone knows and agrees on is REALLY revealing of the culture and how it's shifted.
And while a lot of the advice is WILDLY bigoted or just outright funny, you'd be surprised how much of it is...just genuinely timeless, and shockingly compassionate.
They ALSO, as a writer, have INVALUABLE resources--because, again, they're talking about things that are so MUNDANE that a lot of the time nobody really sat down to formally document what normal, everyday people thought or cared about--because that's boring! But a book written to provide advice and information to, say, a young woman who's never run her own home before? You can fully expect an entire chapter dedicated to The Types Of Oven, and which features are useful and worth spending money on, and which features are a huge hassle to clean and a waste of space, and what to spend that money on instead.
And like. As a writer who frequently works in the 1800s? Fuck inflation calculators, this is the kind of thing I need. This is absolutely priceless.
Now that being said.
My current favorite 'etiquette guide' in the world is actually like....70% purely practical advice, written by a gentleman the groupchat has affectionately dubbed History's Most Autistic Man In The World, and thank god they didn't have Aderall back then
Because the AuDHD is strong in this one and as a result, in addition to the deeply practical and useful everyday reference points, we also have:
friend who went to bed is a type of dead wife
they should breed dogs that bark at 1/5th volume and with a deep and soothing resonance that calms the nervous system
not to sponconpost but holy shit the new bishoujo furby figure

people take "drug seeking is a nonsense framework" to mean that like, no one ever lies to get drugs in medical contexts which is just categorically untrue but the question they don't bother to ask themselves is "why do people feel the need to lie to get drugs?" which leads into the further question of "why would someone abuse stimulants/opioids/etc" which is like. i feel like kinda the major question one should ask no. why do people do drugs. what reasons might someone have to lie. why do we exist in a system in which people feel the only way to make decisions with their own body is to lie to medical professionals.
drug seeking is a nonsense framework not because people don't ever lie to get drugs for recreational use or whatever but because people shouldn't have to go through medical hoops to get drugs period. regardless of if for recreational use or otherwise.
A magical item that was cursed by an ancient wizard to bring suffering and death to its victims, but its stuff that was a death sentence to its original time period, but is just annoying nowdays.
You find a weird tablet covered in ancient occult sympboms and come home and put it on your coffee table. Suddenly you cant keep a houseplant alive for the life of you. You start noticing your gums bleeding, so you eat an orange. You catch the plague, in and out of hospital in a week with antibiotics. You can hear someone whispering threats in ancient sumerian, but you dont speak ancient sumerian so you just assume your hearing aids are picking up someone's weird public access radio station again. Your next children are all girls, no boys. You love being a girl parent, its so fulfilling! It storms for a week, You live in the desert, the farmers are dancing with joy.
