Hey simblr! I'm trying to archive as many fics from Sims_anon (smutty simsfic community from Livejournal) as possible! Livejournal is headed down the toilet, and I would deeply appreciate some assistance. I currently have a few fics backed up on my mobile phone as PDFs - which I will be uploading on either Simfileshare (they're Sims fanfiction, after all) or Mega.NZ (which has an open adult content policy). Because of the nature of this community (being an anonymous kink meme), I hope that if you're the author of any of these fanfics and you still have copies on your old hard drives, that you can mirror them to AO3. I've tried to contact the Open Doors project several times to get Sims_anon saved, but because most of the moderators or owners are no longer very active here, I've had no luck getting anything archived.
If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
Some D&D party is out there playing the coolest campaign ever.
I saw this when it was posted! Some highlights from the comments:
one of my favorite story elements is "character way past their prime can still absolutely wreck you, leaving you to wonder just how powerful they used to be"

Can't sleep.
Reblog earlier had me thinking the phrase 'My English Teacher is a Superhero'
Which then made me think that sounds like some 90's pulp fiction kid's story turned early-mid 2000's tv show about a group of kids who earnestly believe their English teacher is a superhero because of various odd occurrences that keep happening to and around him. So keep doing these "investigations" into the odd occurrences, obviously using knowledge and skills gained from their reading assignments, to try to prove it.
The running gag is that, yes, Danny is a superhero, however the specific things the kids investigate to prove it all have perfectly innocuous if not mundane explanations. Meanwhile the stuff that would actually prove their theory is always happening just outside the kids' purview and/or while they are distracted by their own investigation.
Weird injury? Boyfriend is trying to teach me gymnastics. It is not going well. Boyfriend's menace of a little brother recorded the latest mishap and posted it. *Takes a long sip from an opaque thermos, which perks him up. Everyone assumes it's coffee. Later revealed to the audience as glowing green goo.*
I’m all for another batkid but how about...
A grandbatkid
Dani getting taken in jason and he accidentally adopts her while teaching her the ropes of how to survive when they run into each other and before they know it they get a message telling jason he and his daughter are invited to dinner at the manor and she runs into her uncle danny there.

By popular demand (I saw two people asking) I thought I would throw together a quick guide to using the road editor tool in the newest version of SimPE! You'll see that this is a very easy tool to use, and best of all, goof-proof. If you do mess up (you probably will) it's very, very easy to correct.
Very, very, very important to make a backup of your hood before you ever do any tinkering in SimPE! I also recommend practicing on a test hood you don't actively play in to get a feel for it before you do anything to your main hoods.
We're starting with a vanilla Strangetown. I would recommend going in your game and taking a nice overhead screenshot of the hood like this first to look at for reference of where everything is situated the way that you're used to looking at it.
2. Open SimPE, go to Tools> Neighbourhood> Neighbourhood Browser and open the hood you're wanting to work on. If you're not so familiar with SimPE, opening your hood can take some time. Touch nothing until it's loaded!
3. Once it's all loaded, from the Resource Tree list pick Neighbourhood Terrain Geometry (NHTG). Then you'll see one file populate the Resource List - click that. Make sure on the bottom that you have Plugin View tab selected.
4. Now you should see this map of your hood pop up! There are different things you can toggle, I like to check the Show Lots box when I'm editing the roads. Then click the Road Editor button on the right.
5. To be able to see better, I've pulled this Plugin View window up a bit - it may rearrange the Resource List and Resource Tree windows a bit to accommodate. You can also press the Zoom 2x button to see closer, and then you'll have to use the scroll bars to move around the map and the road editor tool.
6. The road editing tools here will be placed down in the same orientation as the map. So the two parallel roads running through Strangetown from this perspective are the vertical straight road pieces (top row, second from left).
When you select a road tool, above it will indicate which tool you have selected.
Also - I recommend having Handle Stop Signs ticked.
7. Once you have the correct type of road selected for the spot you're working on, simply click on the map - it lays it down one tile at a time. If you miss a spot like shown here, just fill it in.
8. If you want to create an intersection, first delete the section of road where the intersection will go.
9. Then choose the type of junction for the intersection you're making, and add that piece in. You'll see a red circle appear (unsure if this is because it's an intersection or because you have handle stop signs selected, but I recommend you do have that selected either way).
10. Once you're done making all your changes, click Close Editor.
11. This is the part where you save your changes! First click Commit in the top right of the editor. Then, File> Save!
12. Load your game to check! Looks pretty good with all those new roads!
13. However, we have indeed made some mistakes! Which were absolutely for illustrative purposes and not truly an accident.
14. Never fear! Simply reload the hood in SimPE - I've deleted the spot where the T-junction should go and added one in, and deleted where the road just ended abruptly and added a proper end piece.
I have not experimented with what happens if you try to build a road through hood deco - if you have, please let us know in the comments how that went!
I also have barely touched the terrain editing tools, so that's outside the scope of this tutorial.
I hope this helped!
This tutorial is very well put together, thank you for sharing @kayleigh-83 !

hello the queers two fandom i made this
sorry for the inactivity hhe7ejeo
I love how Danny Phantom villains really are just:
The actual ghost of Nikola Tesla
Blob in a mech suit
Teenage singer that tragically died in a house fire
Literally just a fucking genie
Some rich old guy who REALLY needs therapy
The Box Ghost
Bullied kid from the 50s who’s heavily implied to have taken his own life
14 year old with a hoverboard and a gun
Government funded Ghost Cops
Actual Ghost Cops
A decades year old shadow demon that assumes the form of a human and feeds off the misery they create
His own parents
Himself
Everytime I doodle Plastic Box Vidcund he gets ever so slightly more depressed... welp.
Might make an actual illustration if people want it
love him
I like the idea in fantasy that humans are better at maintaining things long term because they set up societies or professions to do it whereas dwarves and elves and stuff are like “just get bob to do it he’s got a good few hundred years left” and then bob doesn’t teach anyone else how to do it
Elf: How have you kept this castle maintained for a thousand years if your lives are so short?
Human: We just train new people how to do it?
Elf: *gears visibly turning in their head*
Human: Are you alright?
Elf: I just realized that we didn’t have to let that whole city fall to ruin just because my grandfather died.
Human: What?
Human: Wait that’s why there’s ruins of elven cities even though you live for so long? You just keep not asking people how to do things? How do you learn anything?
Elf: There’s a lot of “you’ve got time to figure it out on your own” attitudes floating around in our society that I’m starting to question somewhat.
Elf: That sword, where did you get it?
Human: My cousin made it.
Elf: Impossible! Those metalworking techniques were lost a hundred years ago!
Human: What do you mean lost? My great-grandmother learned to make these swords from an elven smith, then taught it to her kids.
Elf: That's ridiculous. No elf would give such secrets to a human.
Human: They didn't. Meemaw delivered the metal to the forge, and no one kicked her out when she stayed and watched. She always said they barely acknowledged her even when doing business with her, like she wasn't worth noticing.
Elf: Come to think of it, my great-uncle always was rather single-minded when he started working.
Human: So he wasn't ignoring her, he just forgot she was there?
Elf: Oh, he was definitely ignoring her, too. He was super racist.
elves, apparently:
Incredibly fucking slow at it 🤧
i fixed it

Salt of the Earth (1954), dir. Herbert J. Biberman
Damn, son.
EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH SALT OF THE EARTH
Salt of the Earth actually has a crazy interesting history- OP already said it was made in 1954, but that was in the middle of the Red Scare (communism scary cold war hysteria)
Congress’s anti-communism target fell hard on Hollywood, and those in the industry who were suspected of communism at all were blacklisted from all jobs, because studio’s didn’t want to face backlash from Congress
Salt of the Earth was made nearly 100% with blacklisted crew members from Hollywood, and had such difficulty finding actors that they hired local citizens and miners from the actual strike the plot is based on. There were only 5 trained actors involved, and one of them (Rosaura Revueltas, the woman in the gif) was deported to Mexico before they finished filming on accusations of communism, with no proof and no substance. The filming was plagued with police harassment and threats (according to my professor they were shot at more than once), and the local union hall was burned down.
The movie itself not only covers a real 1950′s labor strike demanding safer and more equal labor conditions for Mexican-American employees, but after the miners were facing arrest, their wives and children took up the strike in their place. The movie’s combination of blacklisted crew, civil rights and feminist message, and pro-union plot (during the red scare) got the movie blacklisted and only 12 theaters in the entire United States would show the movie- it was successful in Europe, but didn’t actually achieve viewership in the US until the 60′s
