Sometimes I think of the day when Hesina and Lirin sat down at the breakfast table with their two sons, and had no idea that by the time dinner came around, they would be alone.

Things to tell yourself to combat stress.
1) I am going to school, not running a bridge on a plateau assault where the parshendi arrived first.
2) I am going on a date, not getting betrayed by my childhood friend in the middle of a battle against TWO parshendi armies.
3) I am going to a job interview, not staying out during a highstorm completely unaided (yes, that includes Syl)
4) I have received an email, not a shardblade while being a darkeyes in Amarams army
5) I am stressed and anxious, but I am NOT Kaladin Stormblessed that one night at the chasm.
You can do this! I believe in you! And if nothing works, carrying your bridge sideways does!
me and my bridgecrew saw you across the shattered plains and we really like your vibe
Reading The Way of Kings is really funny so far because you go from reading about Kaladin and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day(s) to Shallan and her sailor buddy Yalb's wacky book-buying adventure back to Kaladin about to fucking kill himself.
i want to introduce you all to a project that is very close to my heart... or lack of one. anyway. for anyone who has ever wanted to play a poem. i'd like you to meet aromanticism

pink moon.
I feel like this is the kind of thing you only reblog if you have an aesthetic blog, which I do not, but goddammit I just love it when the moon lines up with stuff
dandelion sun~
does anyone wanna hold hands until we feel a little braver
the reblog map is all of us holding hands btw

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
do it.
I checked this blog to see what other suggestions there were and there were none.
Now that I look closer, the url does say ‘suggestion’ singular, so I don’t know what I expected.
step 1: get sexy
step 2: let no one hit
step 3: be disgustingly well-educated
Can't get over how The Boy and the Heron is haunted by napalm. Of course in the way that it haunts Mahito's trauma and dreams, but also in the fantastical imagery. The vision of his mother melting into a pool of liquid, the story of the fiery rock that dried up an entire lake upon contact, Himi entirely. The fact that the fantastical world, far from the touch of war, has an abundance of water.
References to graphic violence ahead. Firebombing wrecked Tokyo. The firebombing attacks, iirc, actually killed more civilians than the atomic bombs did. There are anecdotes from survivors about crowds of people running and trampling each other to try to escape the napalm. About people running to local swimming pools just to try to douse out the fires or escape only to find that the water of the pools completely dried up because of the heat. Of people bursting into flames in the middle of running. Of people's organs/bodies, quite frankly, melting into liquid. An account of a survivor's mother, for years after the war, pouring cups of water over her deceased daughter's grave and saying "little one, you must have been so hot."
It's subtle and I am not even sure that it was intentional, or if this was on Miyazaki's mind as he directed the art, but I can't shake off the echoes of history when I watched it.

what doesn't kill you makes you stay on tumblr for 13 years and counting
female protagonists will literally go through 30 life altering traumas at the age of 16 and you ppl still have the audacity to call them annoying bc they cry about it and act like teenage girls
‘bread is bad for you’ ‘rice is bad for you’ sorry im not subscribing to the idea that staple grains that have been integral to cultures for centuries are evil. i love you carbs
the answer you're looking for is probably a warm bowl of soup btw

"He who recites TO ALLAH WE BELONG AND TO HIM WE SHALL RETURN at the time when he is struck by grief has no barrier between him and the heaven." Huzoor Saww.
I read this Hadith and thought that what immense grief my Imam Hussain (as) had felt when he saw the pierced throat of Ali Asghar (as) and what big a catastrophe presenting this pierced throat to the mother of the infant had been that he recited inna Lillah 07 times while pacing to and fro in front of the tent of Bibi Umm e Rabab (sa).
Salutation of the day and night on the heart of Imam Hussain (as). ❤️
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, to listen to doctors and get my flu vaccine and any shots i could because they remembered Before.
then they started fighting Covid precautions.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that the ozone was disappearing and the earth was dying and we needed to recycle and save the planet.
now my parents think climate change is a myth.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that racism was a plague, that we had to love and accept everyone, that we should never judge before walking a mile in their shoes.
then they told me that protesting for my Black siblings was wrong.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that we needed to give to the poor. working at soup kitchens. making quilts. collecting food and money and supplies. building houses. because it was the christian and just plain right thing to do.
now they look at me, on food stamps with their grandchildren, and lament the "welfare state".
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that any rich man, especially an immoral one, should never run our country.
you can guess who they voted for.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, so very much.
when did they forget?
Time to bring this back. Again.
Apparently this is evergreen. Dammit.
I remember adults telling me, as a kid that girls can be equal to boys in all fields including athletics. Now, they consider girls to be delicate flowers who could never hope to compete against boys.
