Six men stood around a doorway, spaced oddly. They didn’t seem to want to get too close to each other at the moment. One of them had turned to look at you, brown eyes sharp and attentive. He was clean-shaven, hair kept tidy, dressed in a decent suit. Something in his eyes sent a chill down your spine, made you pause. His lips twitched in what might have been a smile or a smirk.

So far, his possessiveness toward you was sweet and did not seem to extend beyond wanting to hold you and be close, that you were his moonbeam. Your eyes widened, and you lean toward your mam with a hurried whisper.

“I mean it,” he said tentatively. “I… used to think about it sometimes, back when we first moved in. I worried that Champagne would find us. That he’d try to hurt you. I… I realized I’d kill him before I’d let him get near you. And I would’ve done the same thing to whatever was outside earlier if it got in. Would'a ripped it apart with my bare hands before it even touched you.”

Anyway, now that I’m 3k words into this thing, how we feeling about a MinoWhiskey horror AU?

Just barely, you could feel the breeze from his breath at the side of your neck where your flight suit exposed it under your helm.

I’d say I’m over halfway done with the next chapter of All That Glitters so I’m just waiting for my next burst of writing inspiration to finish it out.

She just keeps walking. And, deep down inside, Mando feels the first thread of admiration unfurl at the sheer, stubborn tenacity of the girl, in the face of all odds. 

He tries once more. Because for that alone, she deserves a chance, at least.

Rick was framed by the aperture of the doorway, hair rumpled, chocolate-brown eyes soft and sleepy. The hem of his t-shirt was askew, riding up to reveal his lower belly, lightly furred with dark gold hair.

Your mouth went dry.

“Mornin’,” he half-muttered, half-grunted, running a hand through his hair. His gaze found you, zeroed in. “You okay?”

Morning faded into afternoon without a word. Flora had been grateful for the distraction of her own work. It gave her something to lose herself in.

Loki scoffed and rolled her eyes as she pulled more blue yarn into her lap, causing the ball of it floating beside her to spin gently on its invisible axis. “You would think they had never seen anyone knit before.”

“Come, we’ll be more comfortable on the sofa then back here.”

Like, on the one hand, if the display settings in his email program get changed slightly, he dumps his computer in Hardison’s lap stating his email is “broken” and demands Hardison fix it, without attempting even the most basic troubleshooting. Software updates that change the interface layout result in months of grumbling and asking Hardison where they hid the ___ option this time. On the other hand, when one of Hardison’s magical hacker flash drives encounters a minor hurdle Hardison didn’t expect, Eliot just opens a command line interface and starts tapping away hunt-and-peck style. Whoever they’re working with nervously asks if he’s sure he knows what he’s doing and maybe they should wait for Hardison, and Eliot just says “What? I’ve been dating a hacker for 8 years! This is what Hardison does!” And sure enough, it is. He’s not fast, but he actually does know his way around a command line and knows enough of Hardison’s basic hacking techniques to fix minor hiccups on the fly.

I’d like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldn’t have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how “great” they were.

People need to see this. Not just quickly glance at the photos and keep on scrolling. They need to see this.

I went to a “Cancel Canada Day” event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.

This is my country’s legacy - and it’s not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.

I have a family friend who worked at our local Salvation Army headquarters as a a secretary. This particular office took all the Christmas donations for children in need, put them in a warehouse, and on a designated day the staff and their friends picked through them all, taking whatever they wanted. She saw people hauling away bikes donated for specific families. Some local children had hundreds of dollars of gifts donated in their name, and on Christmas they received three cheap things, items likely not even from the person who sponsored them.

My friend quit, and I’ve not given them a dime of my money since then.

I’m a wildfire and disaster logistics specialist.

I deal with a lot of agencies who provide disaster relief.

I used to say the Salvation Army’s disaster services were the one (literally the ONE) good thing they did.

They would come in, set up a canteen trailer, make and pass out hot coffee and donated food in a disaster, usually being one of the first agencies to get there and the last to leave.

Then I found out.

Every time they did this, regardless of if they were actually invited or deployed by the agency in charge (usually FEMA, sometimes others) they would SELF-DEPLOY. Meanjng they would just show up. Ok. That’s not TOO bad, sometimes agencies have to take initiative and get there before the red tape is sorted out. BUT. They, after they left at the end of the incident, they would send FEMA or the host agency a BILL. They used one or two paid employees (usually the driver of the truck and a supervisor); and many VOLUNTEERS, but they would bill for EVERYONE’s Labor at standard federal rates. They would bill for the food they distributed even though it was all donated by another agency or private parties. They would bill for the coffee they made and the supplies. Except they would use electricity from the shelter location, water from donations or from the shelter, and in many cases, they would get the coffee and industrial filters DONATED, but bill for them at retail prices.

A sparkly silver bat!

87 year old grandmother from India brings joy into the hearts of transgender people all over the world

Kali published the following Instagram post on the role of her grandmother in her life in this Instagram post:

The necklace I’m wearing in this photo was the first gift my grandmother gave to me after I came out to show her support for my transition. My grandmother was and is still my biggest support in my life. 

When I came out to her, I was scared she may not understand it and our relationship getting ruined. She was extremely worried at first about how society would treat me and had some health issues because of the stress, but she never let me know that she was worried. 

Slowly with time, she started getting better and now Fully loves me as the woman I am. She was the one who helped me make my mom and other relatives understand and accept me. 

I asked her if she wanted to be part of a reel for @officialhumansofbombay and she was so excited to do it with me and she said she wants to give a strong message to society to help every Transgender person out there to gain acceptance and love from their family.

The 87-year-old says that she no longer cares about “log kya kahenge” – a Hindi phrase meaning, “what will people think.”

I havent seen anyone do the selfie thing in a minute so... Drop a selfie. I think it'll be nice to see people smile. Even if you just wanna show off that nifty mask.
