There’s something tragic yet good about how Rocky will remember the sound of Grace’s voice and will never have it fade. He will go centuries without Grace but Rocky will never forget anything about him. Eridian memories keep their clarity, so Rocky will always have Grace as he was.
i don't know if anyone has posted about this or not. But in the phm book, rocky doesn't make it back to his bubble at all. Grace wakes up and used straps to carry the nearly 400 pound unconscious Rocky through the ship back to the bubble. And does his best to close him back in.
And then he accidentally almost kills rocky cuz he uses an air pressure thingy to clear black sludge from Rocky's "airways" cuz he thinks its clogged and hurting him. He gives himself severe chemical burns on his arm, rigging up a little remote control thing to put inside the bubble, from the ammonia and the heat from Rocky's atmosphere.
And THEN he doesn't take care of the taumeba samples right away. AND does bad tired sleepy unsafe science which could have fucked everything up. But all he cared about was Rocky. He was so upset he just... didn't care.
And then when Rocky wakes up he immediately is like "no you could have killed me! Sludge was healing me! Lucky i was already healed enough!"
And then "you did BAD BAD BAD science. You need sleep! You're very stupid!" Because Grace tells him everything he did while Rocky was alseep. And Rocky is upset that Grace didn't take better care of the science and also himself.
I really just wanted to tell you guys about Grace climbing through the ship, that had gravity, carrying 400 pound Rocky back to safety. But it got away from me. They love and care for each other so much. I adore them.
