The Lost World is not a fantastic book nor movie because far too much of it is people talking in circles whereas the first Jurassic Park had a lot more quiet moments that built up a beautiful tension

This is also a nitpick I never noticed before (at least in the film - I haven't read the book since high school) but even though both movies only have one adult woman character the Lost World feels oddly more misogynistic in the way it treats Sarah and the fact her entire character is focused on changing the narrative of dinosaurs as "nurturing" and Hammond being the only person who really takes her seriously as a scientist. In the first one, everyone respects Ellie as a professional and an expert in her field and she's never treated as less than Alan she's his peer.
