listen it's not that I think epic the musical is a perfect adaption of the odyssey but it was an impressive passion project that knew what it wanted to be and knew what people gravitated to in the original work and it put significant effort into conveying this through its unique medium and tone to the point that hundreds of other people felt compelled to put effort into their own artistic interpretations of that version of the story. and that's really cool! and yes I would be more critical if it was a 100 million dollar project made by a professional because what the fuck do you mean you're a world-famous director and you cut the my name is nobody scene are you goddamn serious
The strongest guy in the Magnus Archives is that one guy who was so obsessed with his dog that he just walked right out of the Spiral because it was her dinnertime
This is one of my favorite episodes. Fears can't hurt you if you're chill enough. The guy who walked in a spiral for four hours and then just left because he remembered he had somewhere to be is, to me, the avatar of the entities' fear
strongest people in the magnus archives:
guy who kept the coffin of the buried in his living room and used it as a coffee table
walked out of the spiral because his dog needed dinner
the plumber who was so inattentive that the stranger put on a whole spectacle for him and he straight-up missed it all
the guy whose primary concern with the evil taxidermists was whether or not they were money laundering (they weren't)
AND he didnât even realize evil taxidermy was at play for the longest time because he came in like âI love and respect autistic people, of course Iâm not judging eye contactâ
we CANNOT forget the woman that was actively being swallowed by the buried and when there was nothing she could possibly do she lied down on the ground and accepted her fate so thoroughly and with such calm that it had to barf her back up.
And if my memory is correct she KEPT TAKING THE UNDERGROUND TO WORK
The lady who survived an encounter by going along with it and for at LEAST 24 hours just...joined in carrying armfuls of meat to the giant meat hole and dumping it in.
But yeah, dog walk guy is the strongest. So oblivious he barely realized anything had happened. I love him.
still, nobody is perfectâŚ

at some point in your life you will be boiling fruit, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot to make a syrup or jam. the instructions will tell you to simmer for a certain amt of time. your timer will go off and you will look at the pot and go, "hm, this doesn't look thick enough. maybe i'll let it go for another 10 minutes." this is the devil speaking. it's only so liquid right now because it is at boiling point. it will thicken when it cools down. learn from the follies of my youth and do not let this happen to you
at some point in your life you will be making a sauce or a stew in which you need to add cornstarch to thicken it. and you will prepare a slurry of starch in cold water and think "this looks like way too little starch to thicken this amount of liquid." this is the devil speaking. cornstarch instantly polymerizes at 95°C and if you add too much it will turn into an impossibly thick goop.
at some point in your life you will be making some sort of cream based dessert that requires gelatin to thicken it. and you will soak some gelatin sheets in water and think "this is too few gelatin sheets for this amount of cream." this is the devil speaking. it will thicken in the fridge and if you add too much you will end up with milk jelly
at some point in your life you will be baking cookies. you will take the sheet out after twelve minutes as the recipe instructs and the cookies will still be glistening and soft. "these don't seem cooked enough," you will think to yourself, "i should place them back into the oven until their edges are nice and golden." this is the devil talking. this is how you get dry, overdone cookies. the cookies will continue to bake on the warm sheet for several more minutes and then harden up after sitting on a rack for a while. trust the process. trust the process.
at some point in your life you will be adding a small pasta to a soup and you will think "that is not enough small pasta." this is the devil talking. the pasta will absorb the stock and expand. this is how you end up with a soup that is a solid mass of soggy ditalini.
At some point in your life you will be adding garlic to a dish and you will think "that is not enough garlic." These are angels speaking. They are correct. Add more garlic.

Having seen some births now i can say that dog birth is amazing cos they just slip n slide out one after the other like a little conveyor belt. And theyre so little and unformed. And then UNGULATE BIRTHS ... are amazing for the opposite reason which is that 10mins after being born they are filing their taxes. Unless they are goats, in which case they are committing tax fraud instead
Goats are what is called a precocial species, which means that shortly after birth they are able to do many thimgs on their own, such as standing, walking, eating, and embezzlement

one of the hardest things to learn as a depressed former Gifted Kid⢠is that half-assed is better than nothing. take the 50%, 40%, even 20% job. scrubbing your face is better than not taking a shower at all. picking up your clothes is better than never cleaning. nibbling on some bread is better than starving.
DO THINGS HALFWAY. NOW YOUâRE 100% BETTER OFF THAN YOU WERE BEFORE.
One of my college professors used to say âanything worth doing is worth doing poorly.â I didnât understand that for years because I didnât do anything poorly, I couldnât do anything poorly, I had to Do Everything Perfectly.
But brushing your teeth for 30 seconds is better than not brushing them at all when that 2 minutes seems exhausting. Doing ten minutes of yoga is better than 10 minutes of sitting when 30 minutes of cardio sounds impossible. Changing my clothes is good when a whole shower is impossible. Standing on the porch for a few minutes is worth it after being in the house for three straight days because I donât have the energy to go anywhere.
Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly⌠because doing it poorly is better than not doing it.
someone please hit me over the head with this post every day for like the next week thanks. a mention, a reblog with text, a message, something.
You must understand that perfectionism isnât striving for excellence, itâs a crippling fear of being flawed and therefore worth abandonment or punishment. Itâs a kind of psychological avoidance. Youâre avoiding fear and failure , not embracing the thing you want to do bc if it was about the thing you want to do youâd be fine with partial victory.

Seven inadvisable genies for your Dungeons & Dragons campaign:
A genie who will grant a given wish only if they can be presented with a sound argument that it would be ethical to do so. They categorically reject arguments founded in utilitarianism, but are willing to entertain most other ethical frameworks, provided theyâre internally consistent.
A genie who exclusively speaks a long-dead language, the surviving corpus of which is very small. They donât deliberately try to warp the wisherâs intent, but theyâre a bit unimaginative, and make no allowances whatsoever for the limits of a given speakerâs fluency or vocabulary
A genie who can grant an unlimited number of wishes, but will only grant any particular wish once. Theyâve been around for a very long time, and all of the obvious wishes have long since been used up; lateral thinking may be required to get any useful results.
A genie who has a strange preoccupation with horses, and attempts to incorporate them into the granting of any wish in some fashion if it can even remotely be justified. Trying to explicitly specify that a wish should not involve horses leads to arguments and sulking.
A genie who possesses boundless endurance, total invulnerability and comprehensive mastery of every mortal skill, but no magical powers as such. Any wishes they grant must be carried out the long way around. They do not feel the need to advise prospective wishers of this.
A genie whoâs aware of their kindâs reputation for maliciously twisting wishes, and is determined to overcome this stereotype by granting what the wisher meant, not what they said. Their insight into mortal psychology is unfortunately not quite as profound as they think it is.
A genie who can only grant wishes if the outcome would be funny. Exactly whose sense of humour this is measured against is not entirely clear, though the criteria seem to include a strong predilection for sight gags and slapstick and a notably limited appreciation of irony.

Rocky, once again, being baffled and STRESSED about human biology and the things his human does to keep healthy i dont think mr "my whole crew died of radiation sickness" likes the fact that his alien and most things on his planet needs it for survival very much xD previous
Population of nyc is 9 million population of the whole state of north Carolina 10 million one city shouldnât account for a whole state electoral college must stay
Thatâs a really easy way to out yourself as someone who disagrees with treating people equally.
Thanks for the heads up.
If the election was decided by votes alone then literally a handful of cities would decide the next president how is that fair?
First, If that is your belief, would you be comforted if I told you that, doing the actual math, thatâs not true? I get why someone could think that, as itâs a narrative pumped out frequently. But itâs not true.
To get 50%+1 of the population from cities alone, you would need about 70% of every city in the U.S. to vote for the candidate to counteract the rural vote. Â Even NYC doesnât barely had this in 2016, and its arguably the most liberal city in the country, which is solely because of the discrepancy in Manhattan.
Not just LA and NYC. Tulsa. Santa Fe. Tallahassee. Albany. Omaha. Scottsdale. Knoxville.  Every city in the country would have to vote in the same way that Manhattan (not even NYC as a whole, just the farthest-left section of it) to counteract a unified âruralâ vote. The math just doesnât work the way that would be necessary for that to be a legitimate concern.
Secondly, yes. It would be fair.
It would mean that the President would be picked by the majority of votes. The Senate would still be picked on a state-by-state level. The courts would still function as they do now. The Constitution would still exist, and still be just as hard to change. There would still be significant protections for smaller-population states, including the Senate (which would still wildly disproportionately lend power to smaller states.)
But, there would be one significant, fair, just change.
Relevant again.
