I would like to make a few posts in the coming days, about the lovely people I met at DST. I tell you, I cannot recall a single person I met, who was not pleasant to speak with. Not since Spring Harvest, have I been in a place full of such good natured people.
Anyway, about this photograph in particular; It may well be one of my favourites that were taken that weekend. I am afraid that I do not know the name of the Odo cosplayer pictured here, nor do I know if they have any sort of presence on this website. (If anybody knows anything about them, please do let me know. I should like to credit them for their image and their cosplay).
This Odo cosplayer was a contestant in the DST Masquerade. They had come onstage with an ostrich puppet, which I believe was a reference to the DS9 episode ‘‘If Wishes Were Horses’. Whilst the winners of the masquerade were being decided, a lot of people jumped at the chance to take pictures of the contestants, I was no exception (I shall later post pictures that I took of other contestants, too). The Odo’s face prosthetic was very good! It smoothed out their ears and nose, and it had a bit of a sparkle to it.
I approached them for a picture and they let me take one, before leading me to a corner to have one taken with me. They said that they had been looking for a Weyoun all day, it would seem that they did not find @yourthyla! As I followed them to the corner, they said; ““You obey me, I’m your god!” I could see that they were very passionate about playing Odo, they had a very strong, firm voice and an intense stare. I won’t lie, I had several pictures taken with them and that stare did make me sweat a bit (mind you, that might just have been the wig and the ears!). After I had a few pictures with them, they told me that all I needed for my costume now, was contact lenses. They said they had several pairs, including some for a Data cosplay. I would guess that they may have cosplayed Odo for the full three days, as I saw them on the Sunday, wearing Odo’s tuxedo.
I complain about my phone’s camera being of poor quality, but I have to say, I love what it did to the lighting, here. Odo’s head looks as though it is glowing, as if he bares a halo! The light also made my skin look as if it has a bit of a violet tinge to it. It looks as though my Founder’s light has lit up my face! This is also one of the few pictures, were you cannot see how odd my Weyoun’s hair looks. You see, I deliberately made the ears, so that the tips would be detached from my head. Unfortunately, they stick out too far, so the hair that lays over them does not lay as close to my head as it ought to. You cannot see that flaw, here. I am also just really pleased that I managed to get a picture of my Weyoun and an Odo cosplayer in this pose!
