How to spot AI Hallucinations like a Reference Librarian (originally on Substack)

There was a big push to eliminate "degrading jobs" but the strategy was to eliminate the position, then create a new position outside of the bargaining unit to do the work. So like, we wouldn't have dishwashers, but we'd have people who washed dishes that weren't eligible to be in the union.

I was like A) what the actual fuck? Dish washing isn't "degrading", it's fucking vital. B) What the actual fuck? You want to create a union just to exploit different people?

The first time someone told me that busing tables was "degrading", I was like "Oh, uhh, yeah, like it's very necessary work but under compensated for how vital it is?" and they responded "No, touching plates that other people have eaten off of is disgusting."

We all deserve respect, fair pay, and better working conditions for our labor. As long as you’re not a cop or a boss, you need and deserve a union!

AND, in case that wasn’t sus enough, when you went to deltarune.com on October 31st 2018, it looked like THIS.

You were then directed to download a suspiciously large file called SURVEY_PROGRAM, which then gave you the ‘YOU ACCEPT EVERYTHING THAT WILL HAPPEN FROM NOW ON’ prompt before opening. At this point there had been not a whisper, not an inkling that this might be an actual new game, apart from the oddly large file size for a ‘survey.’

But. I mean, if you look at the history, as some redditors did.

The site itself goes back to july 2016, and at that point, all that was on it was. “Him.png”

The original version of Him.png itself is from 2015, and is just “this next experiment seems very very interesting” in wingdings.

Then in December 2016 it got updated so him.png said “"THREE HEROES APPEARED TO BANISH THE ANGELS HEAVEN” still in wingdings.

But the images are so dark (darker than dark) that they just look like black pngs until you fuck with the contrast and brightness and stuff.

(I can see some of the wingdings on the first one if I turn the brightness on my phone all the way up)

Ironically, Hawks reaffirming Twice’s belief about his unluckiness in an attempt to suppress his will to fight helped Twice overcome his learned helplessness. Twice largely followed whatever his friend group wanted because he didn’t trust his own judgment. His few attempts to act on his own tended to backfire despite his potential. Hawks, by making the implicit message from society that he internalized explicit - that Twice was just unlucky and what happened to him couldn’t be helped - gave Twice the determination to push against that notion.

It’s also important that Twice shared his final moments with Toga. While Twice couldn’t envision himself as anything other than a villain, like Toga he was one of the few members of the League who believed in some concept of a future. He wanted a future supporting his friends at the very least, though unlike Toga he wasn’t the type to think of things systematically.

Toga until this point didn’t care for the rigid roles of hero and villain. She thanked Twice for saving her in his final moments when hero society rejects the concept of a villain’s ability to save anyone. Against expectations, Toga also acted selflessly in this scene by calmly keeping it together to support Twice at the end of his life rather than immediately acting on impulse.
