Black Library is going away
Just a reminder to all my Warhammer followers: the Black Library website is going away by the end of August. To keep your old purchases, you have to download them to a separate device right now and/or link your Black Library account to your MyWarhammer account.
Unfortunately, Games Workshop has made that process kind of confusing; you need to go to this link and log in to both accounts to make them actually merge:
(If you don't trust this link, it is also accessible on the Warhammer website FAQ, but it is hidden quite a way down in the Black Library section)
I swear I saw a method posted a few months back that showed how you could purchase the ebooks but then access them outside of the app. The impression I got was that the method would be useable even after August. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? I want to keep buying the ebooks so that I can support the authors, but I don’t want to use the stupid app.
That was probably me when I talked about this here:
A Black Library ebook reader in the browser. Contribute to tepec/just-a-dark-craftworld development by creating an account on GitHub.
As for whether or not it will be usable after August: I'd think so, unless GW blocks it somehow. It's not an official method after all, it's basically just intercepting the Warhammer authorization and pretending to be the official app.
I'll try to find the post I made, because I did a more in depth manual about it if I remember correctly? Otherwise, you can hit up me if you run into any snags and if something is not working at all, u/tepec is a chill dude.
Otherwise... Well, Calibre and Obok works for Kobo to get a de-drm'ed epub. Kindle also has its methods but no idea what kind of hoops you have to jump through.
Here is the post I made back then:
