you dont even need to be an audiophile. its ok if you can't tell the difference between an mp3 and a flac. its actually probably better for you if you can't because you can have way more music if you don't care about the compression. but you can own your music. you can listen to it without wifi or cell service, anywhere you want. you can put a bunch of cute stickers or art on your player. you can listen to music without being distracted by the internet. you can use a computer to copy files from a cute girl's mp3 player onto yours and then you can think of her every time you hear it. you can sit in a laundromat and share a pair of earbuds while you listen to that Russkaja song she likes and you don't know any of the words to. there is a better world out there for you and all you have to do is say yes

"it would be so good if it was good" will haunt you but "it's extremely good, except for the one or two parts which are so bad it's genuinely kind of insulting" will straight up drive you insane

god I really miss when I could scroll through my dash and not unfollow and/or block someone literally. every single time.

Made this post and then the new property manager (who started on Monday and only finally emailed us today because I sent a vaguely professionally hostile email to her boss because I hadn't heard anything and was not convinced she existed) asked for a list of open action items which her predecessor should have had but apparently wasn't keeping track of, which I learned when I met her boss and provided her with the list of open action items, which I guess tragically died in a fire in the last 2 weeks since she was sitting at my kitchen table, being menaced by the skull. How many people's jobs am I doing now

I know "money can't buy happiness" is a bullshit lie meant to keep the underclass from demanding better things, but at the same time looking at people like Elon Musk and Mr. Beast who seem to have never enjoyed a single minute of their lives...I do think that while money can make you happy, being ultra-wealthy makes you uniquely miserable in some profoundly fucked up way. It's like AI psychosis, having all the people around you never tell you no and always talk you up but also being the kind of people who don't actually like you and instead just want something from you just breaks your brain.
