Shout out to the times I've wondered why a ship between two canon strangers is so popular, only to find out that they had an entire plot where they danced in the moonlight and grew old together, but only in the Spongebob SquarePants crossover comics available in Subway sandwich kids meals back in 2004.
Also, shout out to run-on sentences.
Yet another shout out to the opposite: I find out that the reason my favorite ship has a grand total of four fans scattered through time and space is that apparently nobody watched the unpopular-at-the-time, forty-year-old scenes, of which there are four, where the two had extreme chemistry.
In addition, shout out to commas.

Have you ever seen a horse in prison?

This should have been..
Have you ever seen a horse in PERSON?

I've gotta say. Learning more about Transformers has been hilarious. Like, my pop culture awareness of it was mostly just "car robots who fight," but upon looking into it, it turns out they're all gay space christians.

Guys, it got so much freaking worse. KOSA is bad, but SCREEN is even worse, somehow.
Text for S.737 - 119th Congress (2025-2026): SCREEN Act
"Sen. Mike Lee has introduced the SCREEN ACT, a bill that applies the "harmful to minors" standard used to ban LGBTQ+ books and resources in schools and libraries and apply it nationally to the internet.
Any site that has any amount of material "harmful to minors" would be forced to employ surveillance tech (biometric scans, ID uploads, background checks) to prevent minors from accessing "pornography."
You will not be surprised to learn that this is backed by the Heritage Foundation.
Unlike some of the state age-verification laws, many of which are being challenged in court, SC will be enforced by the FTC, which has the ability to levy fines, raid business and freeze bank accounts. Yes, meaning that even non-for-profits like Ao3 will suffer.
This is something for all US users to keep on their radar. Call your reps, call your senators, and spread the word to protect our archive!"
- When talking with Republicans play up the fact that this would force Elon to implement age verification systems on X (yes do call it X during the call). Elon's been threatening to primary Republicans who stand in his way so there's fear of him. Also play up concerns about "Liberals" doxxing people or Chinese hackers.
- When talking with Democrats, play up the connections to Project 2025 and suggest voters will not be happy to see Democrats siding with it.

Hi, my name is [], and I am one of Senator []’s constituents. I live in [city, zip code - leave your full address if leaving a voicemail].
I am calling in regards to a bill that was recently introduced in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transport: the SCREEN act.
I am asking Senator [] to either take no action or vote against this bill because of its implications for freedom of speech. [insert one of the other concerns listed above]. Thank you for your time and for listening to my concerns.
Hey guys something fucking bad happened
KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.
Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.
Please sign/share the petition and contact your representatives.
Download your "adult material" now. Porn, yes. Also anything related to queerness, sex ed, reproductive health. Media with even remotely queer characters. Things like oral history projects are very vulnerable. News articles vanish, sites vanish. Podcasts, both fiction and nonfiction. Save them. If the most horrifically conservative person you can imagine would dislike it, if Tumblr purity police would dislike it, back it up.
(Edit: back up your own writing. Back up your favorite fic. Back up everything you have in the cloud including cat pics. All your gaming stuff -- I lived thru the satanic panic. Have your most "respectable" friends hang on to copies of your personal stuff.
Know that they will find a way to use this to come after religion and race and history and science and anything else they hate as well, if they are allowed to implement it.
External hard drives are way, way less expensive than they used to be. Go.
I have begun buying hard copies of media that might get suppressed.
This isn't a false alarm. It is a warning.
We CAN win, do not give up and stop fighting, even if they win this fight. The point is to preserve shit so when this gets better, even if it takes a long time, these things will still be there for the people rebuilding knowledge.
Also you will find some cool shit.

I’ll reblog it for the important message but you guys are making this really fucking difficult

I do feel that the photos influenced the results somewhat.
I now offer a rebuttal.

really afraid to post anything because what if the spanish doppelganger of me appears and starts speaking a little espanol tonight
tengo mucho miedo de mandar algo porque y si el doppelganger español de mi aparece y empieza a hablar un poco de español esta noche
WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE
eternal agonies and endless torment
YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME
NOT YOU TOO
i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.
so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.
hey this is apparently helping a lot of people! adding that on top of this you can also go to settings > personalization > colors and turn off transparency to also boost performance. this wasn't the Big Fix for me but might as well do that too if you're trying to optimize.
past a certain note threshold on tumblr posts you unlock a bloodborne-esque insight and the strange lives of this site's users become visible to you
(x)
we fucking found them?
Ok I know we joke about this but I just went to the settings and first clicked "adjust for best performance" and then re-checked only 1 box:
"Smooth edges of screen fonts"
My computer was running hot before I turned everything off; the office I'm in is very warm, I could feel the heat of my CPU through the keyboard. The fans were going, not as loud as they usually get, but they were still blasting.
Y'all.
I can barely feel the warmth through the keyboard now. It's been like 2 minutes. The fan is nearly silent.
Click the Windows key and start typing "System settings", and "View Advanced system settings" will pop up. Then click "Settings" under Performance:
Then you'll see this:
TURN IT ALL OFF.
I turned "Show window contents while dragging" and then turned that off again. It's up to you.
My computer is so quiet and reasonably-temperatured now and I barely notice a difference in utility, why is windows like this
maybe I can even play computer games again
The second best thing you can do for a Win10 computer is turn off whatever unnecessary services it's decided it needs to run in the background always. Some services it does need, but others are useless. Here's an article that goes into step by steps.
10AppsManager lets you uninstall bloatware. Winaero Tweaker lets you disable crap like Cortana/Copilot, ads, telemetry, internet search results when you search from the taskbar, and all kinds of other stuff, plus it gives you lots of other little options that are just nice to have (like, it can restore the old MS Paint program in place of Paint 3D). Both are totally free.
Oh, and check your startup programs in the Task Manager tab to make sure your computer isn't automatically starting eight million programs every time it boots. But I think people mostly know about that. (Unless this is me going "they only know one or two feldspars... and quartz of course.")
The first best thing you can do for a Windows computer is install Linux Mint. But some of us do need a few pesky Windows-specific programs. Bleh. Still, if you're up for a project, you can have both (and it's awesome). Here's an article about setting up a dual boot Windows/Mint system.
I think I'll put art and strange fandom things into a peculiar sort of containment unit. Then, on some trips back here, I will mention a vaguely niche sci-fi plotline to all four slightly befuddled acquaintances who don't know what, pray tell, I might mean.
The defeated and bloodied king was chained to kneel in front of his enemy and he says weakly: "Is my wife still alive?" His enemy nodded. "You fools," he said smirking, and the king starts laughing as the sounds of explosions getting closer shake the room.
HOLY SHIT
“average person eats 3 spiders a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
#tapping the reblog button with utmost care because i’m handling a historical artifact (via @malarkiness)
holy shit OP is not only still active but is still making absolutely banger posts in this exact style 11 years later

I go to the grocery store, heading straight for the dairy section. Positioning myself in the middle of the milk shelf, I let out one single long, wailing, cheese-curdling scream. Every single carton of fresh dairy product within hearing distance has now been rendered undrinkable. The poor worker whose only task this shift was to keep me out of the store and most importantly away from the dairy at all costs is fired on the spot. I do not linger to bear witness to the grief and destruction I have caused. Knowing that I caused it is enough.
These petty, pointless acts of meaningless evil are the reason that I will not see the kingdom of heaven.
This is a wheel with 250 fandoms, people, topics, specific words, etc. Spin it once.
Whatever you landed on has completely disappeared from Tumblr. Any posts including or referencing it have vanished, and none will ever be made again. No one else notices its absence, and no one else will ever ask about it.
How long would it take you to notice this?
I'd notice immediately
Within an hour or two
Within a week
Within a month, probably?
I might notice within a year. Maybe.
I would probably never notice this absence
