it's about being an instrument of truth by your own will. the guy who ingested helicobacter pylori to establish a clear causal link between it and the formation of gastric ulcers understood this too
some sources about Barry Marshall (the doctor in question, who was a resident in internal medicine when he did this). he credits Dr. J. Robin Warren with the initial discovery of heliobacter pylori, and he and Warren won a joint Nobel Prize for this in 2005.

all movies are for children because the moving image is inherently juvenile. to be entertained by it even moreso
Random tumblr blog roleplays as a philosopher. Shocks the masses by using big words just to say they think theyre better than you because you watch movies. WHHAAAAT?
thats right
the biggest word in this post is âentertainedâ
ââGod does not work through the is.â God works through what Lao Tzu calls the weak, the empty; this is the same God.â
â Philip K. Dick, The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick
what does he mean by âthe isâ??

The biggest bullshit with Adultism is basically that the people will defend it with: "Well, if we did not force X on kids, kids would not do it, because they hate X."
And then you actually look onto the research.
Kids do not generally hate learning or school. Quite the opposite. Children tend to enjoy learning and are naturally curious. It is exactly the fact that they are forced into school and into the rigid structure of it that often punishes curiosity but also is hostile towards the differences inherent in people, that kids hate it.
Kids do not naturally hate medical care. While medical care is scary at times, the fear usually comes from medical care scenarios being defined by adults overriding a child's agency, not explaining things to him, and otherwise being abusive, that makes children afraid of medical procedures. Additionally the way a lot of medical procedures go hand in hand with denying a child's reality ("Look, it is not that bad") tends to be traumatizing to children.
There have been studies done in this. If you explain a child - even a toddler - what you do and why, children will generally be a lot more okay with stuff like needles and simple procedures, and will even agree to necessary surgical interventions.
If you create a learning environment that allows more for self-directed learning, and involves less specific testing, most kids actually will enjoy learning.
The way kids hate school, and are afraid of doctors is the result of those interactions being associated with violence and coercion. The hatred is because of the coercion, rather than the hatred making the coercion necessary.
The wounded body is sacred in some deep level of its existence; it is a body specialized and formed by experience; in its new way of being present to the world, the wounded body gains something not possessed before. The wound is a gift; it may be a witness to a god or a goddess working in the wound.
Dennis Patrick Slattery, The Wounded Body: Remembering the Markings of Flesh
There's an excerpt you posted a while back about image transfer during lesbian sex-- I've finally met a partner who I feel the possibility of an incredible connection with-- he's delightful and smart and tough and knows when to not take me seriously-- a few weeks ago during sex I had a song intensely stuck in my head-- this buzzy saxophone chord progression-- I had never brought up that song before, nor did I know that he knew it-- we were talking yesterday and that song came up and he told me it was looping under his thoughts that same night!
There's no point to this ask other than to say: Wild!
that is transcendentally beautiful to me! one of my favorite saxophone albums is the afterlife by the comet is coming.
one if my favorite gifs right now the blankest eyes ive ever seen the lights are on but no ones home. and the other thing like grooming its snout but i don't think its even aware of what its doing. i dont think either of them know anything or know that theyre alive

i think its funny that the average american has no clue how hormones work so now we have fully grown men convinced that testosterone is like an attack stat in dota 2
Keeping an alive tumblr in 2026 is proof of one's sincerity and authenticity - a type of person who enjoys posting for the sake of it with absolutely nothing to be gained....just the enjoyment of curation and self expression untainted by opportunity and relevance
After 1989, the idea of breaking with the context of capitalism as it is was all but erased from the conceptual map. With the conclusive defeat of actually existing socialism, an âoverwhelming heavinessâ paralyzed the imagination, according to Enzo Traverso; the present order took on the guise of an immutable nature that is as hard to shake off as it would be to abolish the law of gravityâand âonce capitalism is naturalized, to think of a different future becomes impossible.â Neoliberalism, according to Perry Anderson, ârules undivided across the globe: the most successful ideology in history.â This conjuncture is the indispensable setting for geoengineering. Indeed, it is hard to conceive of any other historical soil from which such a far-out prioritization could grow. Morton, for one, is aware of this: he knows of Fredric Jamesonâs dictum âit has become easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism,â and he elects to embrace that condition. Subjectively and objectively, geoengineering is an extreme expression of aâperhaps theâparadox of capitalist modernity. The structures set up by people are perceived as immune to tinkering, but there is hardly any limit to how natural systems can be manipulated. The natural becomes plastic and contingent; the social becomes set in stone.
Andreas Malm, Planning the Planet: Geoengineering Our Way Out of and Back into a Planned Economy

Itâs just a joke dude. It doesnât mean anything. Information has no coherent structure . Ideas donât touch reality
tl;dr: all "algorithmically" pushed stuff on a newsfeed is mostly ads. nothing that's really surprising form this vulture article, but it is dismal and makes me grateful for one website where you only see things from people you follow WITHOUT horrible short-form video content
What if every viral song, movie, meme, influencer, and celebrity drama in recent memory was the result of a stealth marketing campaign?
